Chapter 70 - chapter 70: The First Sunrise After Eternity

For a long time, none of us spoke.

We simply stood there beneath the endless silver light, watching the abyss breathe peacefully around us while fragments of ancient memories floated upward through eternity like stars returning to the sky.

And honestly…

After everything we survived, silence felt enough.

The black ocean no longer looked terrifying now. The waves moved slowly beneath the silver radiance, calm and endless, carrying no screams, no whispers, no despair.

Only peace.

It still felt strange.

Part of me kept expecting the prison to fight back again.

Another monster.

Another voice inside my head.

Another reminder that happiness never lasts.

But nothing came.

For the first time since this journey began…

The darkness was quiet.

Faye slowly rested her head against my shoulder again, and instinctively I closed my eyes for a second.

Warmth.

Such a small thing.

Yet it grounded me more than all the power inside eternity ever could.

The synchronization inside me pulsed softly in response to her presence, no longer violent, no longer unstable. The silver light beneath the fractures across my skin moved calmly now like flowing starlight beneath glass.

I finally understood what the Deep Origin meant.

Balance.

Not rejecting darkness.

Not surrendering to it.

Living beside it without losing yourself.

The First One stood near the edge of the silver ocean, silently watching the countless lights drifting upward from the abyss. Without the prison feeding upon him anymore, he looked almost unreal.

Not because he appeared powerful.

Because he looked peaceful.

And honestly…

That felt far more important.

After carrying eternity alone for centuries, seeing him stand there without pain in his eyes anymore felt almost impossible.

He slowly looked toward me.

"…What will you do now?"

The question caught me off guard.

Because the truth was…

I had no idea.

For so long, survival was the only thing pushing me forward. Every step after crossing the Door felt like fighting against becoming something inhuman.

But now the prison had changed.

The whispers were gone.

The abyss was healing.

And somehow…

I was still myself.

Faye lifted her head slightly before smiling softly.

"We go home."

Home.

That word hit me harder than I expected.

Because deep down…

I thought I had already lost it forever.

The silver ocean rippled gently beneath us.

Then suddenly—

The Deep Origin's enormous eye slowly began closing beneath the abyss.

The silver symbols rotating within it dimmed softly as its ancient voice echoed one final time across eternity.

THE BALANCE HAS BEEN RESTORED.

The black ocean glowed brighter.

THE DOOR SHALL REMAIN CLOSED.

Silver light spread endlessly through the abyss afterward, calm and warm, flowing across eternity like dawn stretching through an endless night.

Then the Deep Origin spoke once more.

KEEPER OF THE NEW ERA…

Its enormous eye focused on me one last time.

DO NOT FORGET WHAT SAVED YOU.

My chest tightened softly.

Because I already knew the answer.

Not strength.

Not power.

Not synchronization.

Her.

The Deep Origin's eye finally closed completely afterward.

And slowly—

Its presence faded into the silver abyss.

Not gone.

Resting.

The endless darkness became still once more.

The First One lowered his gaze quietly.

"…So this is the end."

But honestly…

It didn't feel like an ending.

Not really.

It felt like waking up after surviving the longest nightmare imaginable.

The silver lights continued rising endlessly from the abyss around us, illuminating eternity softly while the Door beyond reality remained silent behind the healing prison.

Faye squeezed my hand lightly.

"You're thinking too much again."

I let out a quiet laugh under my breath.

"Can you blame me?"

"Yep."

That answer made me smile for the first time in what felt like forever.

A real smile.

Not forced.

Not hollow.

Human.

The synchronization inside me reacted instantly.

The silver light beneath my fractures pulsed warmly instead of violently.

The prison accepted emotion now instead of consuming it.

And honestly…

That still felt unreal.

The First One slowly walked toward us afterward.

For a second, none of us spoke.

Then quietly—

"Thank you."

Simple words.

But the emotion behind them nearly broke me.

Because deep down…

I realized he had probably wanted to say those words for centuries.

Not as a keeper.

Not as some ancient being beyond reality.

Just as a person finally freed from suffering.

Faye smiled softly toward him.

"You can rest now."

The First One looked toward the endless silver horizon again.

And for the first time—

There was no loneliness in his eyes.

Only peace.

"…I think I finally can."

The silver wind drifting across eternity moved softly around us afterward while countless lights continued floating upward through the healing abyss.

And somewhere beyond the Door…

The first sunrise after eternity was finally beginning.
