Chapter Seventeen
**Winky's Journal**

**Day 1.**
Winky is starting a Journal like Mistress does because Mistress says writing things down helps you remember the important things and also helps you think clearer and Winky wants to be as clever as Mistress someday even if Mistress says Winky is already very clever which is very kind of Mistress to say even if Winky is not sure it is entirely true.
Winky is very happy today.
Mistress gave Winky a REAL job. A proper one, Not a pretend one where Mistress tries very hard to make it sound like an order but then apologizes three times and asks if Winky minds which is very sweet of Mistress but also very confusing because Winky is a House Elf and House Elves need proper orders or the magic gets all wobbly inside and that is not a nice feeling.
This is a REAL order, Winky can feel it settled proper in her chest like a warm coal.
Winky is to find Mistresses new little sisters nephew Jon Snow and make sure he does not die before Mistress can get to him, because apparently the little dragon needs him and also the Pretty Dragon Princess needs him even if she does not know it yet which is very sad but Winky will fix it.
Winky is good at fixing things.
The ship is very big and smells like salt and old fish but Winky has already cleaned most of it and lit the nice candles Mistress packed and put the good quilts on the big bed in the captain's cabin because Winky is the captain now.
Winky is a very good captain.
The little niffler that Mistress calls Fred is sleeping in the corner on top of a pile of shiny things he has collected from somewhere Winky has not figured out yet but Winky is watching him.
Winky is watching him very carefully.

**Day 2.**
Winky made a boo boo today and has ironed her hands once each as punishment even though Winky knows Mistress would be very unhappy if she knew because Mistress says Winky must stop hurting herself when she makes mistakes and that mistakes are how you learn which is very wise but Winky still felt she deserved it a little.
The boo boo is this.
When Winky was getting the ship ready and making sure Mistress would have everything she needed for the long journey Winky forgot, and may also have taken the large comfy tent.
And the garden.
And all the money.
And three of the four Founders Items because Winky was not going to leave those sitting around for just anyone to find and Winky has read enough of Mistresses books to know those are VERY IMPORTANT.
And the good cooking pots.
And the extra quilts.
And the emergency book box.
And the Fantasia brooms.
Winky may have also taken Mistresses new book by accident which Winky started reading on the first night because Winky could not sleep and now Winky has very complicated feelings and thinks perhaps Mistress should not read it because it will confuse her greatly.
Winky put the book somewhere very safe.
The iron was only once each hand. Winky felt this was proportionate.

**Day 3.**
Mistress has not called Winky back.
Winky waited all day. Winky was very sure the order would come because Mistress would notice the tent was gone and the garden and definitely the money.
But no order came.
Mistress is too good to Winky.
Winky does not deserve Mistress sometimes Winky thinks.
The stars here are very different from home. Winky looked at them for a long time tonight and thought about Mistresses other home and wondered if Mistress was sad and then decided Winky would work extra hard so Mistress did not have to be sad for long.
Fred the Niffler sneezed on Winky today... This was unpleasant.

**Day 4.**
Winky is CERTAIN there is a thief on this boat.
Winky's favorite pan is missing. The good copper pan with the slightly bent handle that Winky has had since her old family and it makes the scrambled eggs come out perfect and nothing else does and Winky has looked EVERYWHERE.
Winky has searched the whole ship three times.
Winky has asked Fred the Niffler if he has seen it and Fred the Niffler looked Winky directly in the eyes and sneezed again which Winky did not appreciate as an answer.
Winky set a trap with three cookies on a plate in the middle of the galley floor and watched from behind the door for four hours.
No thief came but the cookies are gone somehow.
Winky is beginning to suspect Fred the Niffler very strongly.

**Day 5.**
Winky found that evil rat Fred eating all Mistresses licorice wands and found all the missing things, Winkys pan is back. Winky is now happy.
Fred the Niffler was sitting inside Winky's favorite copper pan in the very bottom of the storage hold eating the licorice wands one at a time very happily and looking very pleased with himself.
Winky had a very serious talk with Fred the Niffler about personal property.
Fred the Niffler offered Winky a licorice wand when Winky was finished talking which was very sweet even if it was Mistresses licorice wand. Winky accepted it because it seemed rude not to.
The sea today was very blue and Winky saw a large fish jump out of the water three times which was wonderful. Winky thinks Mistress would have liked to see it and wrote down what it looked like so she can tell Mistress. It was very big. Silver, Jumped three times, Very pretty.

**Day 6.**
Winky is teaching Fred to stay on Winkys shoulder until Winky commands otherwise, or Fred gets the ladle.
It is going better than expected, Fred is very clever for an evil rat. Winky thinks maybe Fred is not entirely evil just very committed to shiny things which Winky can almost understand, but he still gets the ladle when he is a bad boy.
Winky was told before she left that she could read Mistresses books so Winky found Mistresses book on training that she gave to Pretty Dragon Princess sister and is reading it very carefully because if Winky is going to be a good captain Winky should know as much as possible.
The book is very interesting, mistress has written little notes in the margins in her very small neat writing. Winky likes reading the notes almost more than the book itself. It is like Mistress is talking to Winky from very far away.

**Day 7.**
Bad naughty boys on other boats tried to attack Winkys boat today.
Winky used the magic cannon Mistress left and blew up 2 of those boats and tied up the boys from the other 3 boats with conjured rope because Winky did not want to blow up everyone just the ones that really deserved it and Winky is not entirely sure these ones deserved it yet.
Winky is tired.
Fred sat on Winkys shoulder the whole time and did not steal anything which Winky is choosing to count as a victory.

**Day 8.**
Winky was busy interrogating the bad boys all day.
They are not such bad boys really.... They are just poor and tired and hungry and nobody ever taught them to be good boys properly. Winky knows what it is like to have nobody teach you right.
Winky gave them all soup, and only needed to use the ladle 6 times.

**Day 9.**
Winky started teaching naughty boys all about being good boys today, *NOTE* (ladle needs to be made stronger naughty boys have potty mouths).
Winky had to pull out the ladle to boop the bad boys on the head and the bottom when bad boys forget to be good boys, but only a gentle boop not a hard one because Winky is firm but fair.
Winky made the bad boys clean up Winkys new boats and showed the bad boys how to fix things properly because if you are going to sail a boat you, should know how to take care of it.
Some of the boys are actually very good at fixing things. One of them fixed the stuck door on the galley that has been bothering Winky since Day 1 and Winky was very pleased and gave him an extra biscuit.

**Day 10.**
Bad boys all seem happy with Winky now.
Winky thinks boys just need good food and a good ladle wack sometimes and mostly the good food part. The ladle wack is just to get their attention.
Fred stole one of the boys hats today. Winky made him give it back. The boy thought it was very funny. Fred did not think it was funny but gave the hat back anyway.
Winky is happy with Freds progress.

**Day 11.**
More bad boys attacked Winky today but this time my getting better boys asked to help Winky and fought alongside Winky which made Winky very proud of her getting better boys.
The new bad boys were bigger but Winky has a magic cannon and getting better boys who are starting to become good boys and so it was fine.
The good boys even called Winky Captain which Winky liked very much.
Winky made a captains hat, It is a very good hat.
Fred tried to steal one of the buttons off Winkys new Captains hat, and Winky booped him with the ladle and he gave it back.
Winky is very pleased with the hat.

**Day 12.**
Winky forgot to write that Winky now has 22 new boats and a lot more bad boys and some bad girls to teach as well which is wonderful because girls deserve to be good too and nobody should leave them behind, they needed a lot of the ladle today.
Winky is a little worried she is slowing down and not going fast enough to find Dragon Prince Jon but Winky keeps thinking about what Mistress would do and Winky is pretty sure Mistress would not leave all these poor bad boys and girls without teaching them to be good again.
Mistress never leaves anyone behind if she can help it.
So Winky will not either.
Winky has reinforced her Ladle and is ready.

**Day 13.**
Winky now has lots of boats and when Winky let the boys and girls have a good day off as a reward Winky gave them a big barrel of the mead Mistress got for that giant oaf Hagrid as a Gift for his wedding another oaf giant.
Those giants could drink enough of this sweet mead in one day to drown all of Winkys getting better boys, and girls and this barrel had enough for a year for giants, with the expansion charm inside.
Winky thought one small barrel would be plenty for a celebration.
Winky was wrong, it was to much, much to much.

**Day 14.**
Winky made a big boo boo.
Now all of the getting better boys and girls are calling Winky Admiral Winky the Dread Pirate.
Winky is not sure how this happened entirely but Winky thinks it has something to do with the giant mead and the magic cannon demonstration and the ladle. Maybe its the Portrait of Mistress Winky had commissioned for her New Mistress as only proper for a super strong witch like Mistress, Winky knows mistress is to shy to show off so Winky kept it hidden for Mistress but now she has it present for all to see in the main cabin. The portrait not yet charmed to move but still shows just how pretty mistress is, all of the good boys and some of the good girls really like Mistress portrait and look at it a lot.
Winky is not entirely displeased with Admiral but would like to note for the record that Winky is doing this for Mistress and is NOT a pirate.
Winky is a House Elf on a very important mission.
With a very good hat.

**Day 15.**
Winky has figured it out.
Winky will make a big bunch of boats all look for Dragon Prince Jon Targaryen who is pretending to be Jon Snow because Winky now has enough boats and good people to split up the looking and cover more ground and this is very logical which Winky learned from reading Mistresses books.
Winky is very proud of this plan.
Fred also seemed impressed but that might have been because Winky was holding a licorice wand when she explained it.

**Day 16.**
Winky made rules today.
Winky shudders as she writes this. Imagine a House Elf making rules for muggles. Mistress would be very proud of Winky or so Winky hopes.
The rules are mostly about not stealing from people who have not been properly assessed as bad people yet, and also about cleaning up after yourself and treating the girls and boys the same which some of the boys needed the ladle reminder about but they are learning.

**Day 17.**
Winky had to make the boat bigger.
Winky did not expect Fred to be so very good at fetch.
Winky now has too much gold and silver and other shiny things and also some weapons like the one the bear knight Ser Jorah got from Mistress. Winky is keeping all the new treasure very safe and also a great many other things that came from bad people who needed to not have them anymore.
Winky also helped free good boys and girls from evil boys today and Winkys now good boys helped which made Winky very proud because they did not even need the ladle reminder they just helped because it was right.
Winky now has lots and lots of help. *NOTE* (ladle still not strong enough to smash the bad out of the bad girls and boys Winky will make it stronger)

**Day 18.**
Winky has helped free the Basilisk Isles today.
Winky is very happy about this and also it makes Winky giggle because Winky now has another thing in common with Mistress. Both Winky and Mistress have helped beat up a Basilisk.
Mistress would find this very funny Winky thinks.
Fred was also there and did not help at all and just went to steal every bad bad and girl and could almost not crawl again Winky will have to give Fred the ladle... Winky stopped lots of bad boys and got lots of more shiny to help.

**Day 21.**
Winky is sorry for missing some days. Winky was talked into having some of that evil giant brew at a celebration by the getting better boys who have now become quite good boys really and Winky woke up three days later to find she is now being called Great Pirate Lord Winky the Dread which is a lot of words for one small elf.
Winky has found out she cannot have any more of that evil drink ever again.
This is a firm rule.
The hat somehow got bigger, Winky does not know how... Winky is keeping it.

**Day 22.**
Winky has finished the NEW BOAT.
Winky found a book in Mistresses muggle studies books about a history of magical ships and Winky saw a very big one that worked and looked like it could fit everyone and carry everything and also impress people which sometimes is important.
Winky changed the name of course, Who wants a name like U.S.S. Constitution, No. That name is not good enough.
The new name is THE MISTRESS GRANGER.
All the new good boys and girls were very happy with this name and cheered which was very nice. Winky had to clear up most of the harbor using all the broken boats to make the new boat. Winky could only make normal cannons Winky does not know how to and is not allowed to learn to make magic weapons.
Winky hopes Mistress likes it. Winky made sure to pick a boat with the most cannons 55 in total so when Mistress enchants them Mistress will show these evil witch's and wizards how pretty and powerful Mistress is, at least only on the sea....for now :D

**Day 23.**
Winky is not good enough in magics to make spaces bigger on the inside like Mistress can, so Winky made her trusty Ladle stronger.
Winky is a little sad about this but is trying not to be because Winky is very good at many other things, Winky makes the best stews and makes sure Mistresses cute underclothes are always properly folded.
So Winky will just have to hope Mistress likes what Winky has set up for her in the Super VIP room which Winky made only for Mistress with the best quilts and the nicest candles and the good pillow that Winky has been saving and a little shelf for Mistresses books and a hook for Mistresses wand so she does not lose it again like that one time, Winky is thinking of destroying that naughty book of Mistresses.
It is the best room Winky could make.
It will have to be enough.

**Day 24.**
Winky is back to going to look for the Dragon Princesses Jon and will not fail Mistress.
Rat Fred is on Winkys shoulder and seems very focused today as well, This makes Winky feel better, but Winky has her new trusty ladle ready.
---
**Day 25.**
Winky sent most of the other boats to go free more people from bad people and make them good people and also help look for Dragon Prince Jon Targaryen who pretends to be Jon Snow and keep him safe for Mistress.
Winky told them to be kind but firm and to remember the ladle is for attention not for hurting and also to feed people properly because hungry people make bad decisions and this is something Winky has learned.
---
**Day 26.**
Winky is happy to be on the mission but wishes it was easier to find this Dragon prince Jon or even Wolf King Rob.
Everyone just attacks Winky at first until Winky beats them good and then Winky tells them all about Mistress and just how pretty and powerful and good she is and how she is a good Witch who even fell from the sky to help people and they should be ashamed of themselves for fighting Winkys ship.
Most of them agree after the cannon.

**Day 27.**
Winky still cannot teach that naughty Rat Fred not to steal Winkys favorite pan, Winky WILL HAVE TO MAKE A STRONGER LADLE.
This is an ongoing problem, Winky has not accepted it, may never, Winky is at peace with this Winky will battle Rat Fred for the Pan.

**Day 28.**
Winky has defeated Rat Fred for the right for the pan.
Winky met a new crew member today, A poor man who was very badly hurt, Winky helped him as good as Winky could but Winky is not Mistress and sometimes Winky feels that very keenly.
He is resting now, Winky is keeping watch.

**Day 29.**
Winky has finally found a clue.
The poor hurt man, one of the poor former slaves that Winky helped free used to teach the Wolf King Rob Stark's little sister how to swing a sword before some very bad men came and cut his hand off and sold him to slavers which is one of the most terrible things Winky has heard and Winky has heard some very terrible things.
But he said the little sister got away.
Winky thinks this is important, Winky wrote it down very carefully three times so she would not forget. Winky will have to look up what a first sword of bravos means but Winky will write it down.

**Day 30.**
Winky made lots of notes today but it was her newest captains helper a nice boy named Patrick Sand that helped Winky figure out where to go look next.
He is very clever for a muggle. Mistress would like him Winky thinks.

**Day 31.**
Winky thanked the wounded man today and gave him a tiny piece of Winkys dress as a token which is a very great honor for a House Elf and the man seemed to understand this even if he did not know exactly why.
Winky hopes very much that Mistress will be able to help the nice man have his arm back. He seemed very sad about it in a quiet way that he was trying very hard not to show. But he should be heading to Mistress he knows a lot and Mistress always wants to know things.
Winky noticed.
Winky always notices.

**Day 37.**
Winky had nothing new to write for several days which felt very wrong because this adventure is supposed to have lots for Winky to write so Winky can show Mistress all about it when Winky gets back. So far Winkys Adventure is slow and has not found Dragon prince Jon or Wolf King Rob
The sea has been very grey.
Fred stole the pan again.
Winky got it back.
Fred got the Ladle.

**Day 41.**
Winky met the old pirate man today. The one that sold Mistress the first boat and wanted to marry Mistress which Winky was NOT happy about and still is not.
Winky was going to boop him very firmly with the ladle for that.
Winkys good boys almost had to fight all of his bad boys but then the old pirate man looked at the Mistress Granger and at Winkys fleet and he offered to join our number and help look for Dragon Prince Jon for Mistress as long as they work under Winky, and they get a share of treasure from all the bad boys they find.
Winky considered this for a very long time which was about four seconds.
Winky said yes.
The old pirate man also had to drop off his old friend at a castle along the way since they were heading there anyway which was fine.
He keeps calling Winky Little Admiral which is not quite right but Winky allows it.

**Day 50.**
Winky is tired in a good way.
Winky now has over one hundred boats full of now good boys and girls all helping Winky for Mistress and it is the most wonderful and also terrifying thing Winky has ever seen.
Winky is only one day away from going on shore.
Winky is ready.
---
**Day 51.**
Winky told the crew she would be popping in every day to check on them, Winky showed them the ladle again just to make sure they remember.
Then Winky is on the way to a place called Dragonstone to look for clues about Dragon prince Jon.
---
**Day 52.**
Winky found a cute little princess stuck in a tower like one of Mistresses muggle story books. The poor little princess had an old case of dragon pox which is very bad and made her look all terrible which was not her fault at all.
Winky helped her up with Mistresses extra potion and now little princess is all pretty again and was so grateful she became a good friend to Winky very quickly.
Winky will check in on her from time to time.

**Day 53.**
Winky was helped today by the pretty little princess who is sad because her friend is in jail for being bad even though she says he is actually a good person which Winky found very confusing but also familiar because Winky has known people like that.
Pretty princess is also sad because her father has not been a good man since an evil red witch got her hooks in him which made Winky very angry on little princesses behalf.
Winky told pretty princess all about Mistress. About how Mistress is a good star witch not like that bad witch and how she fell from the sky to help and how she is very clever and kind and has very impressive hair.
Pretty princess listened with very big eyes and asked if she could meet Mistress someday.
Winky said she would do her very best.
Winky also left pretty princess an emergency portkey that Winky made herself, it is a small teddy bear. If the evil red witch tries to hurt pretty princess all she has to do is hug the bear and say pretty princess and she will go straight to Mistress and Dany.
Winky feels good about this.

**Day 54.**
Pretty princess warned Winky, her dad Grumpy King knows someone healed pretty Princess
With help of pretty princess Winky thinks she has found at least Rob Stark. He is near a place called Riverrun
Winky said goodbye to pretty princess for now and is heading to find the Wolf King.
---
**Day 56.**
Winky has found Riverrun but the slippery Wolf King is heading to a place called the Twins for a wedding or something like that, which is a happy thing and Winky is glad people still celebrate even in sad times.
Winky wishes he would stay put.
Fred stole a fish off the dock somehow.
---
**Day 58.**
Winky may be in big trouble this time.
Winky will write it all down so Mistress understands what happened.
It all started when Winky found the Wolf King Robs army and the big fuzzy wolf told Winky in the way wolves talk that he could smell bad people coming to hurt his friend. So Winky said that Winky would help keep Wolf King Rob safe if Wolf King Rob would help Winky find Dragon Prince Jon who is pretending to be Jon Snow.
Then Winky found Wolf King Rob getting attacked while eating supper, bad men came and there were a lot of them and Winky needed help very badly.
So Winky called for Mistress.
Winky knew Mistress was angry when half of the castle blew up even though Winky is pretty sure that was not entirely Mistresses fault or maybe it was a little but Mistress was very fast and very impressive.
Then Mistress called for Winky to grab the two hurt people and take them straight to the Pretty Dragon Princess camp and wait in the tent.
Winky is writing this in the tent now.
Winky did the right thing Winky is sure of it.
But Winky is also a little scared.
Winky just hopes Mistress is not so angry that she frees Winky because Winky could not bear that and also because this was all for Mistress and the mission and Winky did not mean for the castle to get blown up even a little.
Fred is sitting on Winkys lap right now and for once did not steal the pan.
Winky thinks even Fred knows this was a very big day.
