Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Flaw

The Old Kai and Whis also kept their eyes fixed on Gran. By this point, even Shin had realized that Gran had brought back a truly extraordinary little fellow. The atmosphere in the Sacred World of the Kai became incredibly heavy.

Under the weight of their collective gaze, Gran didn't bother keeping them in suspense any longer. He nodded and said, "That's right. His constitution is identical to that of my ancestor."

"Saiyans like Broly are what we refer to as the Legendary Super Saiyan."

Broly—that was clearly the name of the child lying on the grass. Despite being seasoned deities who had seen it all, the gods couldn't hide the shock written all over their faces. They never expected to see this legendary physique manifest in the flesh. For a long time, a deathly silence hung over the realm. Eventually, the initial shock began to fade from their expressions.

Gran smirked. "Well, Lord Beerus? What do you think now? Do you still think I was just out fooling around?"

If Gran had brought back some random person, Beerus wouldn't have given them a second glance. Even if it were a genius, he likely wouldn't have cared; Beerus had lived for eons and had seen every kind of prodigy the universe had to offer. But Broly was different. His type of power had been validated by the sheer might of Otis in the primordial era. Under these circumstances, Gran knew his God of Destruction wouldn't be able to resist the intrigue.

Beerus remained silent for a moment. Looking at Gran's smug expression, he finally muttered, "Fine. Good job."

His voice sounded calm, but those who knew Beerus could tell he was suppressing a surge of excitement.

"And here I thought you said I was just out playing," Gran teased, winking playfully.

"I'm in a decent enough mood right now, but don't push me, or I'll smack you!" Beerus's "calm" facade instantly crumbled into a scowl.

Gran shut his mouth immediately. If he kept poking the cat, he knew Beerus actually would follow through on the threat. The banter between the two brought a smile to Whis and the others, and the heavy atmosphere finally began to lift.

Suddenly, the excited voices of Shin and the Old Kai rang out:

"Hahaha!"

"Great Ancestor, this is Otis's constitution! If he grows up properly, we'll have another world-class powerhouse on our hands!"

"Hmph! They say Universe 11 has a mortal who can rival a God of Destruction? Well, Universe 7 will have one too!"

The two Kais—one old, one young—got so caught up in their excitement that they actually hugged each other. It was a sight that made everyone else look away in secondhand embarrassment.

Beerus averted his eyes. "How did you find this kid?"

Gran stood beside Beerus, looking up at the sky. "Actually, it's a long story..."

He recounted the tale of how Broly was born with a power level exceeding 10,000, only to be exiled by King Vegeta out of fear. After hearing the story, Beerus scoffed. "To have such a genius born into his race and yet exile him because he feared for his own throne... King Vegeta really was a short-sighted fool!"

Gran couldn't help but add another jab. "Not just short-sighted—he also secretly hoarded the universe's best pillows for himself."

Beerus: "..."

This guy is so irritating... maybe I should just hit him once for good measure?

"Cough... ahem!"

Noticing the cat's darkening expression, Gran cleared his throat and changed the subject. "Lord Beerus, what's the plan for my kinsman? Are you going to train him?"

Whis looked at Beerus as well. He was curious to see what the God of Destruction would choose. After all, this was Otis's bloodline!

"If I'm not mistaken, he lost control recently, didn't he?" Beerus asked, answering with a question of his own.

"Yeah. His base power was around 800,000, but once he snapped, it skyrocketed to 200 million."

Hearing this, both Beerus and Whis nodded. It made sense why the child's aura was so terrifyingly feral earlier.

"However..." Beerus frowned slightly. "According to the Grand Minister, shouldn't his power increase without limit once he loses his mind? Why was it only at that level?"

Whis interrupted before he could go further. "It isn't truly 'limitless' in the literal sense. There are flaws."

If there truly were a way to increase power without any ceiling, Otis would have long since toppled the Omni-King.

"That was just his standard form," Gran explained. "His hair hadn't even turned that grassy green color yet. He can only tap into that Otis-level power growth once he enters that specific state."

I see. Beerus and Whis both nodded. From what they could see, the child hadn't yet triggered that green-haired transformation, likely due to his age.

"So, Lord Beerus? Will you train him?" Gran asked again.

Beerus went quiet for a moment before saying something entirely unexpected: "I can't train him."

"Huh?" Gran was stunned. Something felt off. When they encountered little Goku, hadn't Beerus wanted to kidnap and train him immediately? Why was he reacting like this to Broly?

"Even the Grand Minister speaks highly of this constitution; how could I not be interested?" Beerus sighed. "But this physique isn't suited for the Tower of Dimensions. In the end, he is destined to remain a mortal."

Gran understood what Beerus meant. The Tower of Dimensions was a place that refined the mind, body, will, and soul on every level. Broly was already prone to losing his sanity; if he entered the tower, there was no way he could endure up to the 100th floor. He would never be able to ascend to godhood.

"Without sanity and without a divine lifespan, no matter how strong his power becomes, he will be nothing but a pile of dust in a century," Beerus said, shaking his head. "His transformation isn't like yours, Gran. That form is fundamentally flawed."

"No..."

At that moment, the Old Kai stopped acting crazy with Shin and walked over. Whis narrowed his eyes. Did this old man find a solution? Surely he isn't that much of a genius?

"Great Ancestor, do you have a way?" Gran asked excitedly. If Broly's weakness could be fixed, Universe 7 would truly become unstoppable!

"Old man, if you have something to say, spit it out!" Beerus's tone grew frantic. He obviously wanted to train Broly, but he just didn't see a path forward.

"I don't," the Old Kai said, shaking his head. "I haven't thought of a way to 'solve' the Otis constitution yet."

The air went still. Both Beerus and Gran clenched their fists. Are you kidding us right now? They were about to pounce on him.

"Don't be so hasty. Let's hear the Great Ancestor out first," Whis said, stepping in to restrain the two of them. This old man's research into various races was staggering; in some aspects, even the Angels found themselves outmatched. For example, the Old Kai had understood the essence of Gran's Super Saiyan transformation back then, whereas Whis had only seen its flaws.

"Hmph! You two are such brutes. At least Mr. Whis has some manners," the Old Kai grumbled, shooting a glare at Beerus and Gran.

"Let's hear what he has to say. If it doesn't make sense, then you can hit him," Whis added nonchalantly.

Old Kai: "..."

Deciding to drop the act, the Old Kai crouched down beside little Broly. He focused intensely on the boy, poking and prodding him, even going so far as to pull at the kid's waistband to take a look. Everyone else stood there in awkward silence.

Time ticked by. Half an hour passed, and the Old Kai was still staring. Gran was starting to get anxious. He had already claimed Broly as his protégé; if the Old Kai couldn't solve the rage issue, Broly's ceiling would be capped. Surpassing a God of Destruction and challenging the Omni-King like Otis did would be impossible. After all, times had changed.

"Old man, are you done looking yet?" Beerus asked impatiently.

"I'm done." The Old Kai stood up, his old bones popping and cracking loudly from crouching so long.

"Well? What's the verdict?" Gran went over to steady him, worried the old man might throw out his back.

"Not bad. Even though you irritate me, Gran, you're better at respecting your elders than Shin is." He shot another glare at the dazed Shin.

Shin: "..."

Gran: "..."

I'm a Candidate God of Destruction who can wipe out star systems with a flick of my wrist, and you're talking to me about "respecting elders"?

"Stop stalling! Why did you say his transformation isn't a 'mistake'?" Beerus demanded.

Unfazed by Beerus's prodding, the Old Kai slowly stretched his limbs before finally speaking. "When I first saw Gran's transformation, I initially thought that golden-haired state was a mistake too. But later, you all mentioned that the Saiyan history books recorded an 'ultimate state' beyond the golden form. That's when I realized I had fallen into a logical trap."

The Old Kai folded his hands behind his back, his expression grave. He went quiet again, and the others didn't dare disturb his train of thought. After a long moment, he finally spoke.

"If Gran's transformation isn't a mistake, then why would this child's berserk state be one? After all... if it exists, there must be a reason for it, right?"

Upon hearing this, the eyes of the gathered gods suddenly cleared. Whis took a deep breath. Although the Old Kai hadn't explicitly explained how the berserk state was "correct," the logic was sound.

Whis recalled a conversation with his father, the Grand Minister, who had once said: Everything in existence has its own meaning. If someone had solved the flaws in Otis, would his fate have changed?

I see! Whis realized his father must have anticipated that he would one day encounter a Saiyan with the same constitution. Was that a hint?

Whis looked back at the Old Kai with newfound respect. Gran felt the same way. He knew Super Saiyan wasn't a mistake, but he had genuinely believed the "Legendary" form was a defect. To hear it explained this way was a revelation.

"Since you put it that way, have you thought of a way to help him keep his sanity?" Beerus asked, now fully on board with the explanation. Gran leaned in, ears perked. Broly's future depended on this.

"Currently, I only have one idea, but I don't think it's very reliable," the Old Kai admitted.

"Great Ancestor, forget about whether it's reliable or not—just tell us!" Gran urged.

"Gran is right. Please, share it with us," Whis added.

"Fine." The Old Kai squinted at Broly. "Even though he hasn't triggered that 'ultimate berserk' state yet, I can tell from my observation that his power is fueled by rage. That is to say, the more he loses his mind, the faster his power grows.

But unlike Gran's transformation, this child is pure, unadulterated fury. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call him the incarnation of rage itself. Therefore..."

The Old Kai paused. "To allow him to retain his sanity, I can only think of one way: we must find the legendary Super Dragon Balls!"

"The Super Dragon Balls?!" Everyone's eyes widened. Of course! Why didn't they think of that?

Shin asked tentatively, "Great Ancestor, do you mean using Super Shenron to strip away the 'rage factor' from Broly's body?"

Shin hadn't known about the Super Dragon Balls until years ago, when he traveled with Gran to Namek and learned that beyond the ordinary spheres, there were dragon balls the size of planets.

"Shin, have you lost your mind?" Gran looked at him like he was an idiot. "Our power as Saiyans comes from that rage factor. If you strip that away, how are we supposed to transform?"

Gran turned sharply to the Old Kai, frowning. "Great Ancestor, you didn't mean that, did you?"

The air went silent as the Old Kai looked away awkwardly. "Ahem... cough! Like I said, it isn't very reliable!"

Gran: "..."

Whis and Beerus exchanged a look, both equally speechless. Removing the rage factor would certainly keep Broly sane, but it would also render him useless.

"Let me think on it some more. There has to be another way," the Old Kai muttered. He then looked at Gran. "I'll handle Broly's issue. You shouldn't be idling around here; it's time for you to start practicing the rules of Destruction."
