Chapter 236 - Chapter 41: You didn’t seal your divine power?

Anyone with even a little knowledge knew that Hera was a goddess.

Now Loki was accusing him of being a disguise used by a goddess.

Rowan genuinely did not know whether to laugh or get angry.

This woman…

She was messing with him.

However, Loki had her own theory.

"Precisely because you're a male god, you could be Hera in disguise. That way, you could fool every god in Orario. Unfortunately, you can't fool me—ow!"

"Fool you, my ass."

Rowan irritably knocked Loki on the head.

The pain made Loki cry out loudly.

Ais and Riveria, standing behind her, exchanged glances and saw the same helplessness in each other's eyes.

If an ordinary adventurer dared offend Loki like this, they would have stepped forward without hesitation and taught them a lesson.

But the person hitting Loki was another god.

They had no right to interfere in a quarrel between deities.

More importantly, Loki had clearly started this whole thing.

Letting her suffer a little was probably good for her.

Thus, the two remained completely still.

"With that amount of force… I believe you're not Hera now."

Loki rubbed her head.

Rowan froze for a moment before retorting,

"You recognize people by how hard they hit you?"

Loki shook her head.

"Of course not. It's just…"

"Just what?"

"Back in Heaven, I pulled way too many pranks and got beaten up plenty of times because of it."

"Especially Hera. She beat me up more times than I can count."

Loki spoke proudly.

"My body has long since memorized how much force she uses."

"The strength you used just now was completely different from Hera's, so I can say with certainty that you're definitely not her."

Rowan was speechless.

"That doesn't sound like something you should be proud of. Why do you look so smug?"

Even Ais and Riveria quietly took a step backward, looking as though they were saying—

How embarrassing. We don't know this woman.

Fortunately, Loki did not notice.

Instead, she continued staring at Rowan curiously.

"So who exactly are you?"

"The force you used doesn't match any god I remember."

"You're neither Hera nor Zeus."

"Don't tell me you really are some god from Evilus using a disguise?"

Rowan rolled his eyes.

"You're thinking too much. I have absolutely nothing to do with Evilus."

"You sure?"

Loki refused to let it go.

"But your aura feels extremely similar to those gods."

"You're some kind of death god, aren't you?"

Rowan did not deny that.

Because he genuinely was a God of Death.

The moment they heard that, Ais and Riveria immediately became more vigilant behind Loki.

After all, gods of death were hardly considered benevolent deities.

At least in the Labyrinth City of Orario, very few people would willingly join the Familia of a death god.

Gods like that almost seemed naturally suited to Evilus.

Seeing them stare at him as though he were a criminal, Rowan nearly laughed from anger.

"What's wrong with being a God of Death?"

"Did a God of Death steal your rice or something?"

"Why can't a God of Death be a good person?"

"I'm a kind and benevolent God of Death."

Loki burst out laughing.

"Do you even hear yourself?"

"A kind God of Death?"

"Are there even kind Gods of Death?"

"Why wouldn't there be?"

Rowan argued confidently.

"At the very least, death is completely fair."

"Whether you're a king, a noble, an ordinary person, or an adventurer—when your time comes, you die."

Loki noticed that Ais and Riveria seemed slightly persuaded by Rowan's words and hurriedly interrupted.

"Hey, hey, hey! Don't switch the concept on us."

"Death is fair, not the God of Death."

"Death treats everyone equally."

"A God of Death, on the other hand… that's another matter entirely."

Seeing Loki's meaningful expression, Rowan sighed.

He could not be bothered arguing with her any further.

Instead, he asked,

"Just tell me what you actually want."

"You didn't stop me purely because you wanted to pick a fight, did you?"

"Not exactly."

"I'm just curious about who you really are."

Loki counted on her fingers.

"Hades? Anubis? Or maybe Yama?"

Incidentally, the Yama Loki referred to was not King Yama from East Asian mythology.

She meant Yama, the god of death and judge of the dead from Indian mythology.

Orario did not seem to have gods from East Asian mythology, but it did have deities from Indian mythology.

Rudra, mentioned earlier, was one such example.

"None of them."

Rowan shook his head.

"Really?"

Judging from Loki's expression, she clearly did not believe him.

Rowan merely smiled.

If she did not want to believe him, then so be it.

He had no obligation to answer every question she asked.

Still, judging by Loki's behavior, she had apparently not realized he was an outsider from another world.

She merely assumed he was a disguise or alternate identity used by some god.

That was undoubtedly good news.

At least he had not been exposed yet.

Then again, as long as Rowan never mentioned another world, hardly anyone would think in that direction.

To people native to this world, the very idea was simply too unbelievable.

No normal person would seriously believe in another world unless undeniable proof was slapped directly into their face.

Of course, an exceptionally intelligent person might still suspect something along those lines.

But they would have to be an extraordinarily clever god.

Was Loki that kind of god?

Obviously not.

Loki might have been famous in Heaven for her pranks, but calling her some unparalleled genius would be absurd.

She simply was not that kind of intelligent deity.

Meanwhile, when Loki saw that Rowan stubbornly refused to reveal his true identity, she was not surprised.

In fact, she thought it was only natural.

This guy had sneaked into Orario while hiding his identity.

He was obviously planning something big.

Of course he would not expose himself so easily.

"If you don't want to tell me, then forget it."

Loki clicked her tongue and waved dismissively before leaving with Ais and Riveria.

Rowan watched them walk away, shook his head, and continued wandering around Orario.

However, the moment Loki and the others turned into another street, Loki abruptly stopped.

"Loki?"

Ais softly called out when she noticed.

Riveria sighed.

"What are you planning now?"

Her instincts told her Loki was about to cause trouble again.

"What do you mean, what am I planning?"

Loki shot back.

"Don't you think that God of Death is suspicious?"

Riveria replied,

"And what does that have to do with us?"

"Of course it has something to do with us."

"My intuition tells me that guy's origins are mysterious and that he definitely has bad intentions."

"He might even pose a massive threat to the Labyrinth City of Orario."

"As the goddess of the Loki Familia, naturally I can't allow something like that to happen."

Riveria rolled her eyes.

In her experience, Loki was the kind of goddess who feared nothing more than the world becoming too peaceful.

Otherwise, she would never have become Heaven's infamous God of Mischief.

So when Loki claimed she was doing this for Orario's sake, Riveria did not believe a single word.

"What do you actually want?"

"I already told you."

"I need to protect Orario, which means I need to figure out who that guy really is."

Loki thought for a moment.

"You two follow him and see what he's doing."

"Huh?"

"You want the two of us to spy on a god?"

Riveria desperately resisted the urge to slap Loki across the face.

"Do you even hear what you're saying?"

"Relax. It'll be fine."

"Every god who descends seals away their divine power. You two know that."

"Without divine power, how different is a god from an ordinary person?"

"With your abilities, there's no way he'll notice you."

"And besides, he's a God of Death."

"If we don't keep an eye on him and he starts causing trouble in Orario, what are we supposed to do?"

"You don't want that happening either, right?"

Ais and Riveria exchanged glances before slowly nodding.

If a god truly intended to create trouble in Orario, it could indeed become extremely troublesome.

Especially when that god was associated with death.

Humans possessed an instinctive aversion toward death and therefore naturally had little affection for gods of death.

Even long-lived elves eventually had to face death.

So most people were naturally resistant toward both death and deities connected to it.

Keeping an eye on him to prevent trouble did not seem entirely unreasonable.

Thus, Riveria and Ais ultimately agreed to Loki's request and went to monitor Rowan.

After parting from Loki, the two retraced their path and quickly caught up with him.

However, they did not follow him from close range.

Instead, they hid on the rooftop of a distant building.

They remained roughly one kilometer away from Rowan.

To an ordinary person, that was an enormous distance.

From so far away, someone might not even be able to tell whether their target was male or female.

But to Level 5 Ais and Level 6 Riveria, one kilometer was practically nothing.

They could clearly follow the flight path of a mosquito from that distance.

Monitoring a single person was trivial.

That was how ridiculous high-Level adventurers were.

However, something happened that neither woman could possibly have expected.

While they quietly observed Rowan—

he suddenly vanished directly in front of their eyes.

Whoosh.

Gone.

Both women were instantly startled.

At the same moment, a voice sounded from behind them.

"Were you two looking for me?"

Riveria and Ais were shocked.

They spun around while instinctively drawing their weapons.

The moment they saw Rowan standing behind them, both exclaimed,

"It's you!"

"You didn't seal your divine power?!"

This was bad.

Very, very bad.
