Chapter 244 - Chapter 49: Travel Magic

"High Enchantment Magic?"

Riveria was curious. She did not quite understand why Rowan had recommended this particular magic to her.

At first glance, it sounded rather ordinary, without anything especially outstanding about it.

"Don't underestimate this magic. It's far more powerful than you think."

Seeing Riveria's confusion, Rowan explained,

"This is magic that can enchant virtually anything with another form of magic."

"You can enchant your companions' weapons with your spells, or enchant other objects."

"More importantly, it can be combined with other forms of magic."

Riveria froze.

She seemed to have thought of something, but it was as though a thin sheet of paper stood between her and the answer. She could not quite grasp it.

So she looked up at Rowan, hoping he would explain.

Rowan sighed.

"Did you already forget about the Card Magic you learned earlier? The magic that can seal people and objects inside cards."

He spread his hands.

"I don't recall anyone ever saying that cards can only seal people and objects."

"Who says they can't seal magic?"

That was the strange thing about the world of Fairy Tail.

Magic in that world was rather dependent on the user's mindset.

Two people could learn exactly the same magic, yet produce completely different effects because their thoughts and understanding differed.

Card Magic could be used for divination.

It could also be used to create magical cards.

After Rowan's reminder, Riveria finally understood.

"You mean… I can seal spells inside cards?"

"Exactly."

Rowan snapped his fingers and looked at Riveria approvingly.

"Practice whenever you have spare time and seal spells into cards."

"Store a few hundred, or even a few thousand of them."

"Then when you actually need them, you can drown your enemies in magical cards alone."

Riveria had to admit that the sheer brilliance of the idea stunned her.

So High Enchantment Magic could be used like that?

Then she absolutely had to learn it.

As a Level 6 adventurer, Riveria possessed enormous reserves of Mind and could cast several spells in succession.

But casting hundreds of spells in one sitting?

Impossible.

Even first-class adventurers had limits.

Her magical reserves might be vast, but they were nowhere near large enough to let her squander magic so extravagantly.

But if she could convert her unused magical power during ordinary days into spells and store them away, that would be completely different.

Just as Rowan had said, she could prepare hundreds or even thousands of magical cards in advance.

Whether she was fighting an ordinary duel or participating in a large-scale expedition, they would be immensely useful.

So Riveria had made up her mind.

She was learning High Enchantment Magic.

Seeing that she had decided, Rowan activated Archive Magic and forcibly transmitted the knowledge of all three spells directly into Riveria's mind.

In the shortest possible time, Riveria learned all three forms of magic.

This made her even more curious.

She could not help asking,

"What magic was that just now?"

Learning even a single spell was normally an extremely difficult undertaking.

Yet Rowan could directly pour the knowledge of these powerful spells into her mind, allowing her to master them within moments.

It completely overturned Riveria's understanding of magic.

If she could learn this magic too, wouldn't she be able to mass-produce large numbers of mages using the same method?

"This is another type of magic called Archive Magic."

Rowan calmly explained,

"It can connect my thoughts—and even my understanding of magic—to another person's mind and transmit that knowledge directly into their brain."

Loki's eyes immediately lit up.

"That's good!"

"We definitely need that one too!"

"Why don't you teach Riveria this magic as well?"

Riveria also looked at Rowan.

She genuinely wanted to learn it.

"Of course."

Rowan did not refuse.

He simply began bargaining with Loki again and squeezed another batch of valuable treasures out of her before teaching Archive Magic to Riveria.

After learning it, Riveria gave Rowan a slight bow.

"Thank you."

"No need to thank me."

Rowan waved his hand.

"Remember, Loki paid for everything you learned."

Loki clutched her chest with an expression of genuine pain.

"That's right! There's no need to thank this bastard. Teaching you is exactly what he should be doing!"

The price she had paid for Riveria to learn Archive Magic had been anything but small.

Even thinking about it now made her heart bleed.

This bastard really knew how to extort people.

Seeing Loki's miserable expression, Rowan burst into laughter.

After obtaining everything she wanted, Loki left with Ais and Riveria.

However, before departing, she glanced at Rowan and said with obvious schadenfreude,

"Your identity is going to be exposed sooner or later."

"If I were you, I'd start thinking carefully about how you're going to deal with all those troublesome gods in Orario."

Rowan did not take Loki's warning particularly seriously.

He had already prepared the perfect method for dealing with Orario's troublesome gods.

What method?

Run away, of course!

He was not from this world.

He could leave whenever he wanted.

If the gods really pushed him too hard, he could simply leave the world for a while and return after the commotion died down.

Besides, Rowan also possessed Transformation Magic.

He could completely change his appearance and openly walk through Orario as someone else.

And in Rowan's opinion, the most distinctive feature of the Labyrinth City of Orario was its Dungeon.

The problem was—

he could barely enter the thing.

Well, it was not that he literally could not enter.

The main issue was that the moment Rowan stepped inside, the Dungeon became hostile toward him and caused a massive disturbance.

So Rowan could not be bothered with it.

Without the Dungeon, this world's appeal to Rowan dropped dramatically.

Even the various beautiful beastkin girls could no longer hold his attention.

If he left this world right now, Rowan would not feel particularly regretful.

After all—

the next world would probably be even better.

Of course, until the gods began pressing him too aggressively, Rowan continued pretending not to know anything and leisurely wandered around Orario.

Occasionally, he brought Esdeath and the others to dine at expensive restaurants.

Each restaurant had its own specialties and signature dishes.

But after trying them all, Rowan concluded that none of them were as good as the Hostess of Fertility.

So he still visited the Hostess of Fertility from time to time.

One day, when Rowan had nothing better to do, he opened one of the grimoires Loki had given him.

Grimoires had an extremely unusual property.

They did not teach everyone the same predetermined spell.

Instead, they awakened a person's deepest desire and created a unique spell based on that desire.

For example, the protagonist Bell had used a grimoire to learn Firebolt.

But if the exact same grimoire had been given to a different adventurer, that person might not have learned Firebolt at all.

They could have awakened an entirely different spell.

That was what made grimoires so miraculous.

After opening the grimoire, Rowan naturally came face-to-face with the desire hidden deepest within his heart.

And from that desire—

he learned a spell.

Travel Magic.

Whenever Rowan activated this magic, it would take him somewhere he had never visited before.

Uh…

Rowan scratched his head.

That sounded rather ordinary.

Travel somewhere he had never been before?

His Door-Door Fruit could already accomplish something similar.

So could the Warp-Warp Fruit.

If he simply closed his eyes and teleported randomly a few times, wouldn't he eventually arrive somewhere he had never visited?

Travel Magic…

Could this be a completely useless spell?

Still, out of curiosity, Rowan activated it to see exactly where it would take him.

The next instant, the space around him suddenly began to distort.

The distortion did not last very long.

Only a few seconds passed before everything returned to normal.

Then Rowan realized that his surroundings had completely changed.

Before casting the spell, he had been inside an inn.

Afterward—

he was standing on a bustling street.

And this was clearly another fantasy world.

The pedestrians walking along the road included humans as well as several demi-human races.

Where was this?

Rowan looked around curiously.

Had he been transported to some country outside Orario?

That was certainly possible.

Rowan walked over to a fruit stall, took out a piece of gold about the size of a fingernail, and bought some fruit.

While he was there, he casually asked,

"Boss, I just arrived and don't really know the area. Where exactly is this place?"

The fruit seller looked baffled.

You're already here, and you don't even know where you are?

Then how the hell did you get here?

He suspiciously examined Rowan for a few moments.

But considering the gold he had just received, he ultimately answered.

"This is the capital of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica."

"The Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica?"

The instant Rowan heard those words, a sentence appeared in his mind.

If true love has a color, it must be blue.

What the hell—

he had actually arrived in the world of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World!

Travel Magic was incredible!

At first, Rowan had assumed Travel Magic could merely transport him somewhere he had never visited.

He had never imagined that it could directly send him into an entirely different world.

Admittedly, Rowan truly had never visited this world before.

So technically—

it did count as somewhere he had never been.

But still!

Travel Magic could actually cross between worlds?

That was absurd.

This spell was far more powerful than Rowan had imagined.

Previously, whenever Rowan wanted to enter a new world, he had been completely dependent on the Golden Gate inside his mind.

Now, even without the Golden Gate, he could travel into another world.

That was undoubtedly an enormous breakthrough.

Magic really was an unbelievably miraculous thing.
