Synopsis
In a modern world that has forgotten how to listen, sixty-six ordinary people are chosen by God — each one bound to a book of the Bible, each one given a mission they never asked for. They are called Inheritors. They are not saints. They are not heroes. They are broken, doubting, and completely unprepared. But the missions are real, the stakes are higher than any of them understand, and God does not call the qualified — He qualifies the called. Across sixty-six volumes, sixty-six lives unfold. Each story is different. Each burden is unique. But the thread binding every Inheritor together remains the same. The world is broken. Someone has been chosen to face it. And they are never ready.

Chapter 1 - Foster

Author's note: Hey guys! I'm a Christian myself. This story came to my mind after reading the book of John in the new testament. I'm actually amazed on how the bible tells the story of Jesus just by using verses and since I almost gave up on writing novels I decided to make one. I completely respect the bible. Maybe this is God's sign for me to proceed on writing!

1. The coffee was cold; it was resting cold on the desk beside him. Foster Smith an ordinary man who works as a Journalist in a company named as RT-Captures sat on his chair with dark circles under his eyes.

2. A saying came to mind—Working hard or hardly working? A pen between his index and middle finger; left hand acting as a support of his head carrying all the weight of his job and life.

3. He thought his job would be fun after graduating from college with a genuine smile that would disappear after getting hired in his dream job. He stopped going to church to pray and ask god for help—even the shoes that he's wearing couldn't touch the church's floor no more.

4. "…One more line," he muttered, voice sounded tired. "I-It's almost done."

His social battery ran dry and so had the ink of his pen—

5. Yes, Foster was exhausted. With the last sip from his coffee before placing the mug down with a faint-thud, his eyes instinctively closes with a sigh. Losing faith, he'd come to realize, felt less like a decision and more like going hungry — you don't notice it at first, until suddenly you feel it in everything.

6. He used the last bit of his strength to open his eyes and to gaze at the clock which says 11:39PM. I don't want to go to work anymore; I don't want to stand up and do this over and over again.

7. He finally closed his eyes and began to sleep, the sound of his breath fills the silence of his room.

8. He suddenly woke up in the middle of a grassland, not cinematic nor metaphorically—simply a place filled with green grasses. He stood there for a bit before asking himself "What is this place? Am I dead?" He started walking, trying to find a way out.

9. He saw nothing but a crowd of people gathered together like mannequins standing still without even blinking, speaking, and twitching, they're completely still like statues.

He felt uneasy; the place felt unfamiliar yet vivid.

10. The crowd began moving alternatively and a little girl wearing a white dress appeared in the middle of the crowd. She was holding a teddy bear and sobbing.

11. Foster walked closer; the crowd didn't even bother looking at him, "…Are you okay? Why are you crying?" he asked, voice sounded gentle.

12. The little child keeps on crying, it gets louder and louder—until the crowd began to wail, their screams and cries felt like they're in pain. Some are holding their shoulders as if it was dislocated; some are clutching their stomach as if they're hungry.

13. Their screams felt like hundreds of centipede crawling inside Foster's ears. He pressed his hands against his ears, teeth gritted, and eyes were completely shut.

14. The screaming goes for 30 minutes until it suddenly stopped, as if someone pressed the power button. Foster moved his hands away from his ears before opening his eyes only to see the crowds had vanished like bubble.

15. "You saw them; you heard them."

A manly voice echoed beside him; he turned to his right side and saw no one.

"Their screams; their pain."

The voice echoed behind him; he turned around and saw nothing again. He desperately scanned the place in fear to find the source of the voice.

16. "You shall believe in me and bring them closer to me."

Foster replied, "W-Who are you?" he asked, stuttering.

17. "You asked me for who I am, and yet I know who you are, Foster."

Foster stood there and pondering; his heart began to frantically pound.

18."Do not be afraid for I am with you."

By saying those lines, he finally figured out who he is. He stood tall and gaze at the sky with squinted eyes; even if the bright sky was burning his eyes, he remained staring at it.

19. "I am the truth, Foster. I'll ask you to free those people from a mere human who claims himself as my son."

Foster was deeply confused, being asked by God to do his missions felt overwhelming like being an intern to a job without a senior.

"B-But, H-How? I'm just an ordinary person… Also a mere human who lost its faith in you," he said in a low distinct tone, his voice sounded disappointed—to himself.

20. "I know, but I'm still choosing you."

"But I'm scared…"

"I am with you, my child."

21. "I can't give those people freedom."

"Believe."

22. "I-I'm imperfect!"

"You are my beloved."

23. "What about the things I've done?!"

"I still love you."

24. All of the pain and the things he went through came out with a single droplet of tear from his right-eye. He felt his faith was lighten up by the fire of determination.

25. "Think of this as being an intern of your new mission, I'll be and will always be your guide," God said, firm. "Wake up, Foster."

26. "Your left hand will act as the staff to perform miracles created by me; your right hand will write the truth."

27. "Remember this very moment, Foster. I am your everything, your Lord and God, your savior, and your friend. Don't be late, I'm just joking. Your will is in your hands, I'll be right beside you in times of need my child.

28. Foster closed his eyes, and whispered "Yes, Lord." before he even knew it, he was already in his room. He gazed at the clock and it says 5:00AM."

29. Suddenly a book fell from the bookshel and landed perfectly on the fan's oscillation knob; the wind from the fan blew a paper on the table and flew straight in front of him.

It shows a luxurious looking church titled as The Church of the Living World.

30. He stared blankly at the wall in front of him; he knew something was off—he read this once in the book of exodus, "My left hand is the staff," he muttered.

31. And there he knew it, "Moses."

He inherits the book of exodus.
