Chapter 88 - Chapter 87: Ghost Leviathan

A few seconds later, everything around her fell silent once more. It was as if the Firework had never come to this planet, as if it had never been destroyed. The world had always been peaceful.

[The cannon tower went back to normal.]

[The aliens' weapons are truly high-tech.]

[If that is the case, then maybe the Aurora and the Firework were both shot down by this alien cannon tower from the very beginning!]

[Exactly. This is the developer's planted foreshadowing. The spaceships crashing here one after another was not an accident. It was by design!]

[Those damn aliens!]

Everyone discussed while once again sizing up the straight skyscraper. Tsk tsk. This thing was hiding the devs full malice.

Jenny naturally thought of the same possibility.

Human spaceships had crashed one after another, all shot down by the alien cannon tower!

But there seemed to be no solution! The entrance to the cannon tower was covered by a force field. It needed a key to open, and she had no idea where the key was. She could only watch helplessly. So frustrating!

Lucien's plot design was really heart-wrenching!

Jenny took a deep breath. 'Forget it. No point thinking about it.'

It seemed there were only two choices right now. Either go to the Aurora or go to the sanctuary.

Of course, she could also just give up and continue playing the farming game on the island, but that did not really fit Jenny's personality.

So where to go first?

Jenny hesitated. The sanctuary was eight hundred meters deep in the ocean. Just thinking about that depth made her scalp tingle.

Since that was the case, she would go back to the Aurora to take a look.

Although CaseOh had encountered a Ghost Leviathan there, that had happened before the Aurora exploded. Now that the Aurora had exploded with such massive force, it should have also killed that thing, right?

She felt her guess was completely correct.

Compared to going into the deep sea, exploring the Aurora was definitely better!

After thinking it over, Jenny made her decision. "Chats, I am heading to the Aurora right now to check it out!"

[Wow, okay! Jenny is actually this brave!]

[I remember there is a Ghost Leviathan there. Jenny is not even scared!]

[Jenny probably thinks the Ghost Leviathan should have been blown up. Maybe she can scavenge some loot!]

Her thoughts had been guessed correctly. Thick-skinned Jenny simply admitted it. "Yeah, that is exactly what I am thinking. The Ghost Leviathan was most likely blown up. It should be safe to go now!"

No sooner said than done!

"Ding. The Aurora area may be filled with dangerous radiation. To prevent radiation exposure, please craft a radiation suit first, beautiful girl." Gaia prompt sounded at that moment, while also telling Jenny the required materials.

Because the Aurora was powered by nuclear energy, and now its core engine had exploded, radiation was unavoidable.

"Aight. I will collect the materials first then!" Jenny nodded to show she understood.

More than ten minutes later, Jenny entered the Seamoth and headed for the Aurora!

The Aurora's location was not far from the escape pod number five where Jenny had originally been. It was only about eighty kilometers from this small island. No problem at all.

The Seamoth sped across the ocean surface at full throttle. Dozens of minutes later, the shadow of the Aurora appeared ahead.

By now the flames on the Aurora's surface had become much smaller. It looked like it should be safe to approach.

"Small amounts of radiation detected in the surrounding area." At that moment, Gaia's voice came through. "Please make sure you have put on your radiation suit."

"Understood." Jenny answered. Because the raw materials needed for the radiation suit were not complicated, she had quickly gathered them and crafted it.

Now Jenny had already put on the radiation suit and was also wearing the radiation helmet.

At this point she was only a few hundred meters from the Aurora. Jenny noticed that the surrounding marine life had become sparse. Eventually there was no sign of life at all.

Not only that, the originally blue seawater had become extremely murky, turning a yellowish color mixed with large amounts of dust and mud.

This greatly affected Jenny's visibility. The surrounding area was filled with thick, soup-like yellow water. Even in daylight, even with her lights on, she could only see a few meters ahead.

This was not over yet. As Jenny got closer to the Aurora, she suddenly felt the surrounding area begin to shake, as if a magnitude four or five earthquake was happening continuously. The Seamoth she was riding also kept bobbing up and down.

At the same time, the surrounding temperature was steadily rising. Jenny could clearly feel the heat.

"What the hell is going on here?" Jenny was a bit frightened by the series of inexplicable conditions around her. "Gaia, say something!"

"According to analysis, the ambient temperature has reached thirty-five degrees. The seabed is showing obvious tremors. The water contains harmful gases such as HCl, NH4Cl, and NH3. Radiation levels exceed safe limits. However, you are currently wearing a radiation suit, and the Seamoth is also equipped with an oxygen filtration system, so you are in a safe state." Gaia analyzed.

[From the looks of it, all of this is the impact caused by the Aurora's crash. Life signals in this area are extremely weak. The residual radiation from the Aurora is causing irreversible damage to the local ecosystem."

[Tsk tsk. Nuclear radiation, huh.]

[Exactly. Just looking at the environment around here makes my scalp tingle.]

"Holy shit, you guys are making me a little scared too." Jenny said with a pounding heart. The commotion around her was really too intense. Highly polluted seawater, high temperatures, and earthquakes. It felt like the end of the world. She was not even sure she wanted to explore the Aurora anymore.

[But then again, with such severe nuclear pollution, that terrifying Ghost Leviathan that attacked CaseOh earlier should no longer be here!]

[That is true. With radiation this bad, the Ghost Leviathan could not possibly have survived! Jenny, this is an opportunity for you!]

Suddenly another bullet comment reminded Jenny. Those words were indeed correct. Although the environment here was extremely terrible, it was still just bad environment. It was still better than encountering a Ghost Leviathan attack.

"Then I will keep going!" Jenny made her decision. She grabbed the controls and continued heading toward the Aurora.

Because the seawater was so murky, Jenny had no choice but to sail the Seamoth on the surface like a boat so she could see the path ahead.

As Jenny approached, the full image of the Aurora finally appeared before everyone's eyes.

It was an exaggerated behemoth. The Aurora, crashed on the seabed, looked like an island standing right in front of Jenny's Seamoth. In terms of size, it was even larger than the actual island Jenny had seen before.

Under the sunlight, the Aurora cast a massive shadow that blocked out the sky and sun. For a moment Jenny had the illusion that it had gone dark.

Looking up at this giant mothership, Jenny felt utterly shocked. "Chats, do you see the Aurora? It is ridiculously huge!"

[The Aurora. I did not expect our future technology to reach this level!]

[It looks so majestic from here! The developers designed the Aurora to be truly breathtaking!]

The viewers all exclaimed in awe. After all, the largest vehicle in the world right now, the king of the seas, an aircraft carrier, was only about three hundred meters long at most. Yet this Aurora looked like it was the size of two aircraft carriers!

In Subnautica, the devs had truly given players a huge sense of satisfaction regarding humanity's future technology.

"A future aircraft carrier. I never thought I would have the chance to see one with my own eyes one day." Jenny muttered to herself, deeply shocked on the inside.

At this moment she was moving along the left edge of the Aurora's hull. Because the crash had been so severe, the hull surface had already disintegrated, leaving only the most basic metal framework. Some sections were still burning with raging flames.

"Is this really a place humans can enter?" Looking at such a catastrophic scene, Jenny felt a bit worried. Fortunately she soon found a huge hole smashed into the left side of the hull and immediately drove inside.

The view suddenly opened up. Jenny saw the Aurora's deck. Half of the deck had already collapsed, while the other half was still in the distance.

"Chats, looks like we can board the ship!" Jenny shouted excitedly. She quickly steered the Seamoth toward the deck. But the next moment, a terrifying roar sounded behind her!

"Roar!!!"

The sound was extremely sharp. Jenny immediately recognized it. It was the roar of a Ghost Leviathan!

[Holy shit, that sounds like the Ghost Leviathan CaseOh encountered last time!]

[No way. It is still alive in this level of nuclear pollution?]

[Jenny, get to shore! A terrifying Ghost Leviathan is coming!]

"How is this thing still here!" Jenny cried out. She had watched CaseOh's stream, so she knew exactly how terrifying a Ghost Leviathan was. She slammed the throttle to the max and charged madly toward the deck.

Clang!

However, the next moment, a violent collision sound rang out. Jenny felt something slam into the Seamoth. No, not slam. Something had grabbed the Seamoth, making the entire submarine unable to move!

Then the Seamoth began shaking violently. Jenny, sitting in the cockpit, instantly tumbled left and right. The feeling was too intense. It was exactly the same as what had happened to CaseOh back then!

[It's over, it's over. It grabbed you!]

[She's done for. I remember CaseOh got thrown to death exactly like this!]

[Yeah, it is terrifying!]

Amid the viewers' panicked cries, the Seamoth suddenly turned on its own without control. Then Jenny and everyone in the chat suddenly saw a ferocious, massive monster head pressed tightly against the Seamoth's window!

The monster had a head like a shark's, filling Jenny's entire forward view!

It had a pair of compound eyes, rows upon rows of half-meter-long fangs, and two pairs of giant mandibles on each side, like a claw machine, firmly gripping Jenny's Seamoth!

At this moment, everyone who saw this scene, without exception, had their souls scared out of their bodies!!!

[Oh my god, what the hell is this thing!]

[Fuck! It suddenly just pressed its face right up against us!]

[Damn it, that scared the shit out of me!]

[Bloody hell, i'd rather get pegged than play this game.]

In an instant, the chat was flooded with profanity.

"Aaaah!"

Jenny could not help but let out a blood-curdling scream!!!

"Severe warning. Seamoth hull has been damaged!"

Gaia's serious voice rang out. Jenny gripped the controls tightly, trying to maneuver the Seamoth to break free from the monster's mandibles.

But it had no effect at all. The monster's strength was simply too great!

"Warning. The Seamoth is about to disintegrate. Please eject from the Seamoth immediately!"

Chang'e's voice grew more urgent. Jenny quickly slapped the eject button beside her. Her entire body shot out of the Seamoth!

Bang!

Almost the instant Jenny left the Seamoth, she saw it get crushed into pieces under the monster's mandibles!

Then, without caring about anything else, Jenny turned and swam desperately toward the deck.

Five meters.

Four meters.

Three meters.

Jenny finally reached the deck. She quickly climbed up and ran forward along the deck with all her might!

As she ran, she kept looking back. She should be safe now, right? She had already made it to shore. That monster was just a fish. It should not be able to follow her up here.

Roar!

The next moment, a violent roar suddenly rang out in midair, interrupting Jenny's thoughts. The Ghost Leviathan had actually launched itself out of the water like a person leaping over the border in Mexico and pounced straight at her on the deck!

"Aaaaaaah!"

At this moment Jenny's legs really went soft. She fell straight onto the deck.

But fortunately she had already run some distance. The monster ultimately did not land on her. It dropped heavily a few meters away from her. Its massive body slammed onto the deck, causing the entire deck to shake several times.

[Holy shit, this thing can actually jump out and attack people!]

[That scared the living daylights out of me!]

[Holy shit holy shit holy shit!]

The viewers in the chat let out countless terrified cries. Only now did the monster's full appearance appear before them.

Aside from its ferocious head, its body was streamlined, with abnormally developed muscle tissue, like a giant python that had grown countless times larger, only with fish-like tail fins. Because its lower body was still submerged in water, they did not know exactly how long it was, but a rough estimate put it at least sixty to seventy meters.

Most of its body surface was a blood-red color, extremely glaring and obvious.

While being terrified, Jenny also tremblingly scanned the creature with her wristband.

"Ding. Ghost Leviathan. This species is a naturally cunning hunter with highly developed vision and echolocation abilities. It periodically emits deep roars as an efficient sonar. If you can hear it, it can also hear you."

"It possesses four powerful mandibles that can lock onto prey within reach of its claws. Scan sample measures sixty-five meters in length. It has been observed to habitually attack prey from behind."

[This creature's body was almost entirely muscle. It had no brain, only the most basic primal instincts.]

[Prey: Any living creature it can see.

Natural enemy: Unknown.

Assessment: Extreme threat.]

"Ghost Leviathan." Jenny tremblingly called out the monster's name. Only now did she finally understand just how terrifying and weighty Lucien's casual remark had been when he said he had placed a Ghost Leviathan near the Aurora.

This thing was basically a super boss-level existence!

At this thought, Jenny could not help but take a few steps back.

The terrifying Ghost Leviathan in front of her stared at Jenny for a while with its pitch-black compound eyes. Then it began to continuously swing its body, using its powerful tail fins to push itself back into the ocean and disappear from Jenny's sight.

"Phew~" Only then did Jenny let out a heavy breath. Her entire body collapsed onto the deck. "Holy shit, that really scared me to death."

[Yeah, that was way too fucking scary!]

[Can a Ghost Leviathan even be designed by a human? This is too terrifying!]

[Does developers have a grudge against us players or something? I almost pissed myself just watching the stream!]

[I would rather get killed by the female ghosts in Silent Hill than get grabbed by this thing!]

↳ [Imagine the female ghost is your mom, then she grip you with her juicy tights to death.]

↳ [What the fuck did you just say?]

 ↳ [kys bruv.]

[Way too thrilling. I have decided. When I play Subnautica, I will never come to the Aurora no matter what!]

[This is literally challenging the limits of human psychology!]
