The mountains were closer than they looked.
From Shivgarh Village, the Black Ridge Mountains appeared
like a dark wall at the edge of the world. During sunrise and sunset, their
peaks turned red like burning coal, and at night they became black shadows
against the sky.
No one from the village went there.
Except hunters who accidentally wandered too far — and even
they never stayed long.
But Rudra could not stop looking at them.
After his conversation with Elder Somdev and the strange
dream of the broken sphere, the feeling inside him grew stronger every day.
It was not curiosity anymore.
It felt like something was waiting.
The Decision
Rudra was eight years old when he finally decided to go.
He did not tell Meera.
He did not tell his friends.
He did not even tell Elder Somdev.
Early in the morning, before sunrise, he packed a small
cloth bag with some food, a water bottle, and a small knife Meera used for
cutting vegetables.
He quietly stepped out of the house and looked back once.
Meera was still sleeping.
"I'll come back before evening," he whispered to himself.
Then he started walking toward the mountains.
Entering the Forest
The forest between Shivgarh and the mountains was dense and
quiet. The deeper Rudra walked, the quieter it became. Birds stopped singing,
and even the wind seemed slower.
After several hours of walking, he finally reached the base
of the Black Ridge Mountains.
Up close, the mountains looked even darker. The rocks were
almost black, and very few plants grew there. The air felt colder, even though
the sun was high in the sky.
Rudra began climbing.
The path was steep and full of loose stones, but he
continued climbing slowly and carefully.
After some time, he noticed something strange.
There were broken stone steps carved into the mountain.
Not natural.
Someone had built them long ago.
Rudra followed the steps.
The further he climbed, the more ruins he saw — broken
walls, fallen pillars, and stone blocks covered in moss and cracks.
"This place was not empty," Rudra said quietly to himself.
"It was a city… or something like a city."
The Ruins
By afternoon, Rudra reached a flat area between two mountain
cliffs.
What he saw there made him stop completely.
In front of him were massive ruins.
Broken buildings made of black stone.
Collapsed towers.
Huge stone statues that had fallen and broken into pieces.
Wide stone paths now covered in grass and cracks.
It looked like an ancient city that had been destroyed a
very long time ago.
Rudra walked slowly through the ruins, touching the stone
walls and pillars.
"Who built this place?" he wondered.
He saw strange symbols carved into some walls — symbols he
had never seen before, but they looked similar to the symbols on the black
token Elder Somdev had given him.
Suddenly, the token in his pocket became warm.
Rudra immediately took it out.
The symbols on the token were glowing faintly.
At the same time, somewhere deeper in the ruins, something
else began to glow.
Rudra looked up.
"There's something here," he whispered.
He began walking toward the center of the ruins.
The Underground Hall
At the center of the ruined city, Rudra found a large broken
structure that looked like a temple or hall. Most of the roof had collapsed,
but in the middle of the building, there was a staircase going underground.
Cold air flowed from below.
The token in his hand became warmer.
Rudra hesitated for a moment.
He remembered Elder Somdev's warning.
When you go there, your life will change forever.
Rudra took a deep breath.
Then he walked down the stairs.
The Hall of Symbols
The underground hall was huge and dark. Only a few beams of
light came from cracks in the ceiling above.
The walls were covered in symbols and carvings — pictures of
people flying, fighting monsters, holding glowing weapons, and strange circular
objects floating in the sky.
In the center of the hall was a large circular platform made
of black stone.
And on that platform…
There was a stone pedestal.
Empty.
But not completely empty.
There was a circular mark on the pedestal, as if something
round had once been placed there for a very long time.
Rudra slowly walked toward it.
The moment he stepped onto the circular platform, the black
token in his hand began to glow brightly.
The symbols on the walls began to glow faintly as well.
Dust fell from the ceiling.
The air became heavy.
Then suddenly, a deep voice echoed in the hall.
Not loud.
But powerful.
"Mahakaal bloodline detected."
Rudra froze.
He looked around, but there was no one there.
"Who's there?" he asked.
The voice spoke again.
"Identity confirmed."
"Heir of the Mahakaal Clan."
Rudra's heart started beating faster.
"I don't understand," he said.
The pedestal in front of him suddenly opened, and a small
black stone rose from inside it.
It floated in the air and slowly moved toward Rudra.
"First fragment located."
The stone touched Rudra's chest and disappeared into his
body.
Immediately, Rudra felt a powerful pain spread through his
entire body. He fell to his knees, unable to move.
Images flooded his mind:
A burning fortress.
A man and a woman.
A black sphere breaking into pieces.
A war in the sky.
Clans fighting.
Mountains breaking.
Stars falling.
Rudra screamed.
Energy spread through his body like fire and ice at the same
time.
Then suddenly, everything stopped.
The hall became silent again.
Rudra was lying on the floor, breathing heavily.
A strange black mark appeared on his chest for a few seconds
— a broken circle.
Then it disappeared again.
The deep voice spoke one last time.
"Fragment One merged."
"Heir must locate remaining fragments."
"Enemies are searching."
"Grow stronger."
The lights on the walls disappeared.
The hall became dark again.
Rudra slowly stood up, still shaking.
He did not fully understand what had happened.
But he understood one thing.
His life had just changed forever.
And far away, in a distant city, a man wearing black and
gold robes suddenly opened his eyes.
He looked toward the direction of the Black Ridge Mountains
and smiled slowly.
"So… we found you."
