Chapter 10 - Chapter Eleven: Holding On

The sun spilled warm light into the apartment, and for the first time in weeks, Mina didn't feel the usual tightness in her chest. She sat at the kitchen table, notebook open, her hands tracing the edges of the photos they had carefully labeled together.

Liam hovered nearby, watching her with a soft, protective smile. "…Feeling ready?" he asked gently.

Mina nodded, a tentative smile tugging at her lips. "…I think so. I… I feel like I remember more today. Small things, but… more."

He crossed the room and took her hands in his. "…That's amazing," he said. "Every day is a victory. Every memory you hold… it's ours."

A soft laugh escaped her. "…Even if I forget tomorrow?"

"Even then," Liam replied, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "…Because our love doesn't rely on perfect memory. Your heart remembers. That's what matters."

Mina's chest swelled with warmth. She looked at him, really looked, and in that moment, the weeks of fear, panic, and frustration melted away. "…I'm so glad you didn't give up on me," she whispered, tears brimming. "…Even when I forgot."

"I could never," Liam said, voice thick with emotion. "I love you too much for that. You're my heart, Mina. Even when your mind struggles, your heart… never forgets."

She leaned into him, resting her head against his chest. The steady beat of his heart beneath her ear was a rhythm she could trust, a constant in the chaos of her memory loss. "…I feel it," she said softly. "…I really feel it. And it's enough. It's… more than enough."

They spent the morning together, revisiting the notebook, laughing softly at old photos, reciting silly phrases they had invented to help trigger her memory. Every smile, every touch, every shared glance felt like a victory. Mina began to realize that the anchor they had built together wasn't just about routines—it was about love, patience, and trust. And that anchor could withstand anything.

Later, Liam took her hand and led her to the window. Sunlight danced across the city streets, and Mina felt a flutter of hope she hadn't experienced in weeks. "…We're okay," she said, squeezing his hand. "…Even if tomorrow is hard, even if I forget, we'll be okay."

He smiled, holding her close. "…We'll always be okay," he whispered. "…Because no matter what, we have each other. And that… that is stronger than any forgetting, stronger than any fear."

Mina tilted her head, looking up at him with a smile that was both shy and full of certainty. "…Then let's promise," she said softly. "…That we hold on. Every day, every week, no matter what. We hold on to each other."

"I promise," Liam said, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. "…Forever."

For the first time in weeks, Mina laughed—a soft, genuine sound that filled the room. It was a sound of hope, of love remembered, and of joy found in the simplest moments. And Liam laughed too, the sound echoing in harmony with hers.

Outside, the city continued its endless rhythm. Inside, Mina and Liam created their own rhythm—a rhythm of love, trust, and hope. And in that moment, they knew that even if the world tried to pull them apart, nothing could break the bond they had forged together.

Because memory could fade, moments could be lost, but love… love would always remain.
