The third day began the way the second day had begun, which sounds less like coincidence and more like institutional commitment. The 7AM alarm remained ideologically devoted to volume, the overhead bulb remained devoted to violence-by-illumination, and Proxy was already awake before either performance started.
Roll call happened at 8AM during the guard's two-minute circuit, and the day officially unfolded at 9AM with free period, which Nyx had been mentally preloading since around 6AM.
She knew the shower block opened during free period because she had read the facility map posted near the cell block entrance on the first day and retained it.
Not everyone does that. Most people observe information and allow it the dignity of dying immediately.
Nyx did not.
