Chapter 52 - Ways to Make Money

Anonymous Post — University Road Drama Shoot ScandalLast weekend at 2 a.m., the M Network miniseries shoot was underway right in front of University Road. As a fan of the supporting actor and idol appearing there, I stuck around the entire set and witnessed treatment below basic standards for artists. I'm writing this to expose the facts. This is the absolute truth without a shred of fabrication, and I've attached photos and videos as evidence. The audio in the videos didn't record well. I've added explanations for context.

(Photos and videos attached: Crystal-clear shots from a telephoto lens. Images of Oon Ta slipping on vomit, video of Moo-young and Oon Ta talking to the assistant director, etc.)

I know drama shoots are incredibly tough. But how does an actor just step in someone else's vomit—not even water—and fall? Is this normal preparation? This delayed the shoot and drained the actors' stamina massively.

Also, they compared the extras' looks to the supporting actors and, under the pretext of it being for the supporting cast, pressured the extras not to wear makeup. This is an insult to both extras and supporting actors. I demand an official apology from M Network and all involved.

— NoWayThisIsRealHoly crap. If this is real, it's huge. What era do they think this is to say that outright? Assistant director, resign.— BlurThisMessAt least mosaic it. This is a human rights violation.— KPopFanaticThat's Oon Ta, right? But who's next to him? Similar build, so maybe a model.— TruthHurtsLolThe assistant director was right lol. That guy next to Oon Ta steals the show more?— DramaWatcherKnew I recognized him. The high schooler from Hanbam Pochah. No news, but turns out he's shooting a drama. Wild."Hey! Hey, hey!"

"Ha Moo-young! Get up!"

The sun was high in the sky. But for Moo-young, who'd barely dragged himself in at dawn, it might as well have been midnight.

His roommates climbed up to his bunk bed and shook him.

"Come on, quit sleeping!"

"Ugh, hyungs... please... Isn't the after-party tonight?"

Finals were over, and with everyone graduating, they wouldn't see each other in the dorms anymore. They'd planned a big dinner to celebrate graduation and the end of the semester.

"That's not the point right now. You okay?"

"Why wouldn't I be? I'm just exhausted..."

"They said you got bullied on set!"

"...Huh?"

What was that about? Moo-young lifted his head, opening just one eye. One roommate shoved his phone screen in Moo-young's face.

The photo looked familiar. Wasn't that the street they'd shot on all night?

"They wouldn't let you do makeup and stuff. But fans passing by helped out. That true?"

"Uh, how'd you know?"

"Exposure post went up, and witnesses chimed in below it. Read the comments."

Moo-young sat up abruptly, his head spinning, but he shook it off and focused.

— EyewitnessThis is legit. They banned makeup, so bystanders did it for the actors. Guys even styled their hair lol. Thought it was wild, but now I get why.— FanGirl88Ha Moo-young seemed so nice and great with fans? Why would staff do that? Boycotting the drama. Who'd watch something made with that mindset?— FaceJudgeOon Ta's face isn't one to be compared anywhere;— RealTalkNah, bad matchup. Check that otherworldly face piercing through the quality. I'd say something too lol.— FireHimAssistant director, come on out. You psycho.Holy shit. What the hell was going on? He'd gone to bed and woken up to a lightning bolt out of nowhere.

Moo-young scrolled through the comments in a daze. The anonymous post had already spawned articles.

"Whoa."

This had blown up big time. But he hadn't really lost anything. The shoot wrapped fine, and meeting fans was nice.

Moo-young flopped back down and kept reading articles.

"You sure you're okay?"

"Yeah. It's true, but... I'm fine. Oon Ta's stylist helped too, and we wrapped smoothly. Haha. But what's all this? Wow."

"Shit, you scared us."

"Phew—"

With his playful mutter, his hyungs finally sighed in relief. They'd worried what hell this soft kid had been through. Good thing it wasn't that bad. Really!

"When did this blow up?"

"Dunno. Post went up this morning, but reporters spread it and it exploded. Original's deleted. It's dominating real-time search now—check this."

🔥 Real-Time Search #3: Ha Moo-young 🔥"Whoa!"

His name was plastered there bold as day. Not for good reasons, which sucked, but it was still wild.

"People are wondering about you and Oon Ta beyond the assistant director drama?"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Who's the actor who made even Oon Ta look plain? That's the vibe. No need to worry."

That was kinda sorry for Oon Ta in its own way. Moo-young rubbed his eyes, watching the flood of reactions.

Then his phone rang. Sure enough, Go Kyung-min.

He sat up and answered.

"Yeah, hyung. Saw the articles."

—This is awkward.

"Why? It's not my fault."

—No, it's not that. Interview requests are coming in.

"Int... erview?"

—Maeil Daily. Of all things, our first one's on this. Ugh.

Moo-young scratched his head.

"We should do it, right?"

—Yeah. Can't ignore reporters' influence.

"Then let's. Augh! Lightning out of nowhere."

Lots to do. Like moving to the officetel ASAP.

Moo-young climbed down, grabbing his toiletries.

—We reached out to SN Enter too?

"Oon Ta's agency?"

—They said the network's issuing a formal apology, firing the problem assistant director. Oon Ta'll post on SNS that it's resolved and he's fine. Let's add our spoon.

Spoon to a done meal! Perfect. Nothing tastier or easier.

Firing the assistant director...

"Park Sang-il AD's getting cut?"

—Yeah. I told him he was rude. Guess he had issues before; they pruned him quick. Wild.

Still, he got caught in his own mess. Not pitiful, just unfortunate.

Moo-young grabbed a towel and asked,

"You handle my SNS, right? Can you post for me? I'm slammed today and tomorrow. Packing here and moving in."

End of semester confirmed it. This term was a bust. Just grateful for the credits.

—What about the interview? First one, wanna pick good photos. Studio's hard on short notice. Know a nice spot? Good light, spacious, cool vibe.

Go Kyung-min's words brought it to mind instantly. Gold Vista Office Tel. The place Moo-young was moving into fit perfectly. Duplex, sleek interior straight out of a magazine.

"Come to the officetel? Perfect for photos. One wall's all glass. Han River view."

—That work? Won't you be unpacking?

"Fully furnished. Just clothes."

—Okay. I'll set it with the reporter and call back!

"Sounds good."

Moo-young hung up, leaning at the shower entrance. He watched the feed exploding by dozens per second. All about Oon Ta, the assistant director, and him.

Wild.

So many people in the world. Hope Oon Ta takes no real hit. Big agency'll handle it.

To: Im Jun-hoMove a bit early tomorrow. Might do the interview at the officetel.Tap tap. Moo-young sent that to Jun-ho and headed in for a shower. Last night in the dorm. He'd scrubbed every corner for a great dinner with his hyungs.

Moo-young leaned against the wall, checking trending articles in order. Then a loud horn blared.

Sunglasses on, Jun-ho waved from the driver's seat.

"Yo, Ha Moo-young!"

"Yo, Jun-ho."

"That all your stuff? Could've just cabbed it."

Two big backpacks. Clothes and books combined.

Jun-ho laughed incredulously and loaded them in the trunk.

Slam!

"Told you to cab, but you insisted on me coming."

"Did I? But seriously, even a homeless guy packs more. No unpacking needed. Just shove in one room."

"No way. Reporter's coming."

Around 3 p.m., Moo-young's first interview at the officetel. First one ever, so salon trip too—busy day. It was 8 a.m. now...

"Gotta hustle."

"Photos there?"

"Yeah. Great lighting."

"Yo, Ha Moo-young. Figured out how celebs make bank?"

"...What?"

Jun-ho's cryptic words. Moo-young blinked blankly, and Jun-ho looked flustered instead.

"You didn't call them to flip the place?"

"Flip? What's that?"

"...My bad. Yeah, wouldn't be you."

"Quit mumbling! Spill!"

"Famous celebs show off homes to media to pump the price."

Whether for sale or not, a star living fabulously boosts the "great place to live" image. Premium attaches, prices rise. Sometimes their own homes, often sponsored by builders or owners.

"Package it nice for media, people bite. That's the play. Thought you were doing that."

Landlord's son thinking different. Hyper-sensitive to real estate, money, buildings.

"Not my place. And rumors tanked sales anyway."

"So you sell it."

Fame brings instant credibility.

"No ghosts or whatever, they couldn't even ask that price. I saw it that day, told Dad honestly. Great location and specs, but ghosted? He said don't even look—lifelong curse."

Jun-ho turned the wheel smoothly.

"Hit up that Byung or whatever. Sell the place, snag fat commission."

"Nah, not my level yet. And if it sells, ghosts..."

Ghosts... just keep 'em away? Then smooth sailing. Place itself is fine.

Moo-young tapped his mental calculator.

Screech.

"Huh? Yo!"

"Grab the bags and come up!"

"Hey! Am I your minion?"

"Please!"

Car stopped, Moo-young bolted up. Even in the elevator, fidgeting. Door to 2202, hands shaking!

Screech!

"Hey! Ghost lady!"

Empty officetel. So vast, voice echoed.

Moo-young hands on hips, bellowed again.

"Come out! Let's talk!"

Then slither... from the master bedroom, a long-haired woman crawled out. Cheek smooshed on floor, vomiting red blood.

Moo-young rushed over, squatting in front.

"Get up and sit properly. This is super important."
