Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Furious

"Master, is this the part we run?" Honghong said quietly, yet her voice was still loud enough to echo through the forest.

Bai Xue Yao weakly fluttered her eyes at the wolf which appeared very angry. Its snout wrinkled as it pulled his lips back revealing its fangs.

Tian Lan glanced at Xue Yao and back to the wolf before continuing to gnaw at the bone in her hand, her eyes narrowing slightly as her teeth worked 30 miles per hour.

"Master, aren't you going to say something?" Honghong asked, already hiding behind a tree.

Xue Yao sighed, why couldn't she just enjoy her moment of rest? She slowly rose up, and her eyes locked with the wolf.

She flipped her hair back, gulping down her saliva before pointing at the wolf. Her eyes narrowed, "don't tell me you are so ungrateful, I saved your ass when you were almost killed." She said, taking a step back.

The wolf howled loudly, before taking a step towards her.

"Grateful?" The wolf growled. "You ruined my plan, and not only that, you abducted me, ruining my reputation too." He snarled ferociously as he stepped closer, his fur bristling as rage filled his eyes.

Xue Yao took another step backward. She felt fear spiralling up her spine, and deep down she knew she shouldn't have kidnapped the wolf, but how could she miss the opportunity to get a powerful beast at her side.

She cleared her throat. "Be grateful, else I have ways to make you regret it." She said calmly.

'I have chicken drumsticks, and I can beat the hell out of you and not only that, I have a super amazing weapon that will make you regret the day your mother gave birth to you.' She thought inwardly with confidence.

"And besides you haven't gotten your true form yet. With that size of a rabbit do you think you can win against my master!" Honghong shouted from behind the tree.

One growl from the wolf and Honghong hid behind the tree again.

"What a disgrace to the beast clan, calling a lowly human master." His gaze sharpened as he prowled forward.

Xue Yao tilted her head slightly before frowning. 'I know wolves have a short temper, he should already be attacking, why is he trying to intimidate me and waste time?'

Something was wrong, yet she couldn't pinpoint it.

Just then, the grumble echoed through the air, temporarily silencing the awkward tension… and it was all coming from the wolf's stomach.

Xue Yao chuckled. "So you are hungry, Is that why you are so grumpy like a hundred year old grandpa?"

Honghong's giggling echoed from behind the tree.

For a moment they both seemed to have overlooked the situation.

"I can spare a rock rabbit or two." Xue Yao shrugged her shoulders. She was already being extremely generous.

But that only made the wolf grow angrier. "I will eat you and your lowly bird as an appetiser." And with that, the wolf charged towards Xue Yao.

Her eyes opened wide in horror… he was so fast that her eyes couldn't follow his movements.

Her eyes opened wide in horror… he was so fast that her eyes couldn't follow his movements.

"Master!" Honghong's terrified scream tore through the forest.

A red blur flashed before Xue Yao, then…Bang!

Honghong was sent flying like a cannonball. Her body crashed through a tree trunk before rolling across the ground. Feathers scattered into the air as she finally came to a stop.

The wolf landed gracefully several feet away, his golden eyes cold and merciless.

Xue Yao stared blankly at the scene. For a brief moment, her brain failed to process what had happened.

Then she saw Honghong struggling to get up. The little bird coughed violently. Her feathers were a mess and one of her wings hung awkwardly by her side. 'Damn this master-servant bond… always putting me in jeopardy.' Honghong thought inwardly.

"Master..." Honghong wheezed. "I think... I think this is my end."

The color drained from Xue Yao's face. Although Honghong was annoying most of the time, she was still her beast.

And more importantly… She had taken that attack for her.

'How dare you? Sticky grumpy wolf touched my annoying red bird.' She seethed inwardly.

The wolf prowled forward again, his eyes fixed on Xue Yao.

"You should be grateful to your servant. Had she not interfered, your head would already be separated from your body."

Fear crawled up Xue Yao's spine. Her fingers trembled slightly. For the first time since arriving in this world, she genuinely felt death approaching. Yes, she might have bitten off more than she could chew, but she wasn't going down with a fight.

The wolf took another step. Then another. His killing intent rolled over her like a tidal wave.

"Now," he growled. "I will deal with you personally."

Xue Yao swallowed. Her hand slowly disappeared behind her back. "Let's see if you are capable."

The wolf noticed it immediately, and his eyes narrowed. "What are you doing?"

Honghong's eyes widened the moment she noticed what Xue Yao was about to do. "No!" she screamed. "Master don't!"

Xue Yao ignored her. "If I'm going down..." she muttered under her breath. Her fingers closed around the item.

"...then everyone is going down with me."

The next second she pulled out the Sticky Smelly Socks.

The forest fell silent.

The wolf stared.

Tian Lan stared.

Even Honghong stopped breathing.

A horrified expression appeared on Honghong's face. "YOU CRAZY WOMAN!"

Xue Yao activated the socks. A horrifying smell exploded into the surroundings.

The air distorted and the trees trembled. Even birds fell from the sky, and several beasts hidden nearby let out miserable cries.

"Urghhhh!"

Xue Yao immediately regretted her life choices. Her eyes rolled upward and tears streamed down her cheeks.

Honghong dropped to the ground convulsing. "Master... this is too much..."

Even Tian Lan floated several meters away while pinching her nose before disappearing into thin air.

The wolf froze. His entire body stiffened, and his golden eyes widened. For the first time since waking up, genuine disbelief appeared on his face.

Then disbelief became anger. Pure, Unfiltered, Rage.
