Chapter 91 - Ice Empress: He Really Seems Different from Other Humans

Wang Donger watched their retreating figures and didn't think much of it, heading straight back to her seat to continue cramming knowledge about spirit tools to catch up with the teaching progress.

On the other side, Gu Yue isolated the sound and said calmly to Autumn, "Autumn, you can pay some attention to that Wang Donger for now, but don't have excessive contact with her."

Autumn was puzzled: "Why, Sovereign Sister? Is there something special about her?"

"Her Soul carries a faint trace of Divine Sense. Judging by the aura, it belongs to that Sea God from ten thousand years ago."

Autumn was startled: "Sea God? A Divinity from the God Realm?" Pausing, Autumn's eyes flickered with thought, and a hint of seriousness flashed in her gaze: "Then should we..."

"No need."

Gu Yue softly declined, turning a page in the book in her hand: "She bears the marks of destiny's arrangements. It's very obvious yet very subtle, as if it were a last-minute decision."

"So it might be the handiwork of the plane will, likely some kind of Opportunity or trial actively sent over for that 'Son of Destiny'."

She paused and continued: "You can vaguely perceive the direction of the Son of Destiny but find it hard to pinpoint him accurately. By using this trace of arranged destiny on her, it might be easier to find the target."

Autumn understood and nodded: "I see. I'll find an Opportunity to get a bit familiar with her."

Gu Yue's gaze was calm as she said no more, turning her attention back to the book in her hand, which was made of special material and had "Preliminary Explanation of Spirit Rings" written on the cover.

Compared to the newly arrived Wang Donger, she and Autumn had enrolled long ago. She had personally acted to create perfect disguises for both of them, ensuring their age and displayed cultivation levels were just right.

She had slightly revealed her amazing 'talent' in mental force and spirit tool manufacturing, receiving a slight tilt in resources toward her.

Subsequently, she was recruited by an on-campus club called'Sun Moon'.

She investigated information about this club and learned that it had only been founded within the past year, but it had quickly swallowed up the other excellent clubs in the academy. It was said to have the approval and push of Dean Jing Hongchen.

Most of its members were outstanding students from the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy or students with prominent talents.

Thus, to better fit the identity of 'human students', she and Autumn joined the club together. After signing a strict non-disclosure contract, they obtained the Cultivation materials circulated within the club.

"'Spell Cultivator'." Gu Yue's fingertips lightly brushed over the theories on the pages that subverted the traditional understanding of Spirit Masters, murmuring in a low voice.

Shifting her gaze, she glanced at another book Ancient Autumn was studying beside her, which had "Detailed Explanation of Body Cultivator (Elementary)" written on the cover.

"'Body Cultivator'."

According to Autumn's feedback, the path of a "Body Cultivator" was exceptionally compatible with her Golden Dragon Martial Soul.

Gu Yue herself was quite curious about "Body Cultivators," but unfortunately, her contract permissions did not allow her to view the relevant content for the time being.

That contract was extremely precise. Although she had the means to forcibly erase it, it would inevitably trigger an alarm and carry the risk of exposure.

Settling her mind, she suppressed her curiosity for now and focused her attention on the "Spell Cultivator" theories in her hand.

"spirit rings... so they can be used like this? Stripping remnant Souls, modularization, self-condensation... Truly interesting."

A hard-to-detect purple glint flashed deep within Gu Yue's black eyes, and a thick sense of interest rose within her.

Although she couldn't be sure whose hand these clearly subversive theories came from, her intuition told her that this most likely had everything to do with that "Son of Destiny" who gathered a massive amount of Luck.

Truly, she was becoming more and more curious.

She was looking forward to meeting this "Child of Destiny" more and more.

...

...

As time passed and external events developed, even within the Laboratory, some subtle changes occurred.

Under the cool-toned lights of the Laboratory, a peaceful and harmonious scene was reflected.

A petite young girl dressed in an exquisite white and green dress sat on one side of a cold workbench.

Those small feet covered in sheer black silk stockings swung boredly, her toes slightly intentionally or unintentionally touching the many light blue Energy models emerging beside the youth working at the desk.

The Ice Empress propped one hand on the table while the other unconsciously toyed with a stack of storybooks with slightly curled edges nearby.

These were given to her by the youth in front of her for fear she would be bored. She indeed read them with great interest, but unfortunately, she had already finished them all and read them over several times.

And regarding this, the youth who was immersed in deductions completely forgot to replenish her'stock'.

Unconsciously, the Ice Empress puffed out one cheek, her golden eyes shifting slightly, her gaze finally landing on the profile of the youth working at the desk right next to her thigh.

Hmph.

She couldn't help but let out a soft snort in her heart, her eyes carrying a bit of defiance and resentment, as well as a trace of observation.

The days she spent serving as a guard in place of the Snow Empress had given her a clearer understanding of Kong Mingan's daily routine.

This guy's life was terrifyingly regular. Most of the time, he was like this, writing and drawing on the light screen on the workbench, surrounded by countless special structures made of blue Energy lines that she didn't understand.

Strange fellow.

The Ice Empress muttered in her heart, though she now believed a few parts of what the Snow Empress had said before about "him being different from other humans."

After all, what normal human stays soaked in a Laboratory every day!

Of course, this guy wasn't without his merits; at least he never brushed off her questions.

If she asked, he would answer, never being perfunctory with her.

Guarding this guy every day wasn't exactly boring. At least it was more interesting than waking up to hunt, eating until full to sleep, and spacing out for long periods in the Extreme North Land.

The Ice Empress used that stack of storybooks as a cushion, resting one hand on them with her palm propping up her chin. Her gaze fell slightly, gently tracing the profile of the youth working with downcast eyes.

His long eyelashes cast faint shadows under his eyes, and his slightly pursed lips showed a bit of focus. His already handsome appearance gained a bit more quiet charm when he was immersed in thought.

The Ice Empress watched him, slightly dazed, and had to admit in her heart that the way this guy looked when working quietly was much more pleasing to the eye than when he was performing surgery on her with a carving knife.

The Ice Empress's thoughts wandered, but suddenly, Kong Mingan's movements paused.

The faint blue light in his eyes vanished, and his focused gaze returned to its usual clear, everyday appearance.

The Ice Empress, who was watching somewhat dazedly, felt her heart skip a beat. She immediately grabbed a book by her hand and pretended to lower her head to flip through it.

Then, she finally looked down at the youth with a calm gaze, her tone cold and indifferent:

"...Finished?"

Kong Mingan turned his head, about to speak, but his gaze paused slightly on the book in the Ice Empress's hand.

After a brief silence, Kong Mingan reached out, straightened the book in her hand that was clearly held upside down, and then spoke:

"Elder Yi has come out of seclusion. Come with me to see him."

"Ah? Oh!"

The Ice Empress was first startled, and then her cheeks heated up slightly. She tried to explain, but saw that Kong Mingan had already turned to walk out.

"Wait... wait for me!"

She quickly spoke, jumped down from the workbench, and hurried to catch up.

The figure ahead didn't look back but unnoticeably slowed his pace slightly, allowing the Ice Empress to easily follow by his side.

"Listen to me, that just now was an accident!" the Ice Empress hurriedly explained.

"Mhm, I believe you," Kong Mingan said without looking back.

Ice Empress: "..."

It's obvious you don't believe me at all!

Her fists tightened again.
