Chapter 123 - Recognizing One's Own Kind

Kong Mingan fell silent once again.

He could clearly perceive that Zhang Lexuan's logic was self-contained and impregnable.

Or rather, she had long since actively abandoned normal emotional logic, indulging in the dependent relationship she had constructed centered around him.

Kong Mingan said nothing more, only lowering his head slightly and silently gazing into her eyes in his arms.

Seeing his speechless expression, Zhang Lexuan smiled contentedly.

The hand she had wrapped around his neck tightened slightly, gently pulling his face closer until their breaths were audible to each other, before she whispered softly, "So. Continue?"

Kong Mingan looked at those morbidly infatuated eyes, and finally, he responded with a barely audible sound:

"…Continue."

The smile on Zhang Lexuan's face curled up, like a blooming Datura flower, bewitching and alluring, yet strangely fatal.

Three hours of preparation time; setting aside two hours was more than enough.

For her, this was the only break she had in two weeks, and she yearned to seize every single minute and second...

Three hours later, inside a solemnly and elegantly furnished conference room in the inner court of Shrek Academy.

Ju Zi sat upright at the head of one side of the long table, followed by several core employees of the Chamber of Commerce. They were few in number, but each one had a steady aura and shrewd eyes.

They waited in silence. The conference room was quiet, with no sound other than breathing.

At a certain moment, the conference room door was pushed open, and the delegation from Shrek Academy, led by Zhang Lexuan, filed in.

Ju Zi's gaze instantly fell upon the person leading the group.

Zhang Lexuan was currently wearing a set of extremely well-fitted black academy executive uniform, which perfectly accentuated her tall and graceful figure.

Beneath the skirt of the uniform were a pair of long, slender legs tightly encased in smooth black stockings. Every step she took was steady and rhythmic.

She still maintained her cool, aloof demeanor, carrying the authority of a high-ranking official between her brows, but upon closer inspection, her jade-like skin held a faint, vital blush.

As her eyes shifted, an inexplicable, lazy charm belonging to a mature woman subtly flowed, adding a fatal allure to her originally icy temperament.

Ju Zi's fingers, holding the document, tightened almost imperceptibly, and a trace of understanding and sharpness flashed in the depths of her eyes.

Although Zhang Lexuan concealed it very well, Ju Zi almost instantly sensed a certain "kindred Spirit" aura from the subtle changes in Zhang Lexuan's presence.

Was it really her?

Ju Zi's frown deepened.

Zhang Lexuan sat down in the main seat, her gaze calmly sweeping over Ju Zi. She spoke first, her voice possessing a hint of imperceptible hoarseness and magnetism compared to usual:

"Vice President Ju Zi, I apologize for the wait."

Ju Zi composed herself, putting on a professional, appropriate smile: "Elder Zhang is too polite. We just arrived ourselves."

Without further pleasantries, Zhang Lexuan cut straight to the chase: "May I ask the purpose of Vice President Ju Zi's sudden visit?"

Ju Zi smiled slightly, signaling her assistant beside her to push a thin document toward Zhang Lexuan.

"Naturally, it is to clear some unnecessary obstacles for our future deeper cooperation."

She paused, watching Zhang Lexuan pick up the document, before slowly adding, "This is a small token of sincerity from the Chamber of Commerce, or rather, evidence."

Zhang Lexuan lowered her eyes and quickly flipped through the document in her hands. As she read deeper, her gaze gradually sharpened.

This document clearly recorded evidence of various violations, large and small, corruption, bribery, and abuse of power for personal gain committed by more than ten senior teachers in the outer court in recent years.

The time, location, personnel, amount, and even partial video recordings were all included, making the evidence irrefutable.

For example, the matter concerning Spirit Department teacher Zhou Yi, who leveraged her husband Fan Yu's identity and status within the Soul Tool Department to repeatedly improve the promotion rate of her students by illegally expelling students, which resulted in irreversible physical harm to multiple students.

Zhang Lexuan closed the document, raised her eyes to look at Ju Zi, her gaze carrying scrutiny and a hint of solemnity: "What does your esteemed Chamber of Commerce want?"

With this document in hand, she could quickly conduct a large-scale purge of the outer court, establish prestige, and thus accelerate the recovery of her own power.

Therefore, she did not believe the other party would offer such a great gift for no reason; they must have an agenda.

However, Ju Zi gently shook her head. She gazed at Zhang Lexuan, her eyes seemingly able to penetrate that layer of cold exterior and see some unknown corners deep within her heart.

Her voice was very soft, yet carried a strange penetrative power:

"No need."

Zhang Lexuan frowned slightly, becoming even more confused.

"Why?"

The smile on Ju Zi's face deepened slightly, seemingly containing a certain unspoken understanding.

Chuckling, she slowly spoke:

"It's simple. Because we are the same."

Zhang Lexuan didn't understand why, but looking at the familiar trace of amusement in Ju Zi's eyes beneath her half-rimmed glasses, she seemed to grasp something.

But at the same time, a question couldn't help but arise in her heart:

Just how many people are around him?

...At the Mingmeng Chamber of Commerce headquarters, inside Kong Mingan's room.

He was completely unaware that his reputation was being harmed. Well, Kong Mingan's reputation in this regard had never been good anyway, and even if he knew, Kong Mingan wouldn't care.

If it was already a ruin, why fear collapse?

The Ice Empress, as always, occupied the soft, large bed that originally belonged to Kong Mingan.

Her petite body was nestled in the fluffy bedding, and a pair of delicate jade feet covered in sheer black silk stockings were idly cocked up, lightly moving back and forth, slicing the air.

Beside her, Kong Mingan sat quietly at the desk, his eyes slightly closed. Silver-glowing data streams flowed silently in the depths of his eyes.

His consciousness was immersed in the ocean of information constructed by the Ling Shu Network, rapidly browsing the detailed report regarding Shrek Academy's current batch of new students.

A massive stream of information flowed like a waterfall before his eyes, and the first person highlighted was naturally Tang San.

As expected, Tang San was "lucky" enough to be assigned to Class One, under the tutelage of Zhou Yi, known for her strictness and peculiar teaching methods.

After he had Ju Zi hand over that evidence to Zhang Lexuan, Zhang Lexuan would most likely move against the outer court to establish her authority. Naturally, she would need to kill the chicken to warn the monkeys, and Zhou Yi was very suitable to be that "chicken."

As a side effect, Tang San might also be implicated, especially since the conflict between Tang San and Dai Huabin upon his enrollment was also recorded in this internal Shrek data.

Tags such as "irritable" and "paranoid" were prominently bolded in his personality assessment, meaning he would likely be a key focus of observation.

One could only say that the plane will knew how to play games, tormenting Tang San to the extreme without hindering Kong Mingan's plan or actually killing him.

Truly full of resentment.
