Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Fanaticism

I'm so stupid, really. After transmigrating, I kept thinking I was the protagonist of some Tokyo god story and didn't think about anything else at all, to the point that I completely forgot about a classic anime like Jujutsu Kaisen.

Mahito was so embarrassed he wanted to curl his toes and dig a three-bedroom apartment out of the floor.

But you can't blame me, Mahito complained in his heart, because he didn't have a stitched face at all.

That's right. Although he had confirmed that he was the rather wicked villain from the Jujutsu Kaisen series, his appearance was not entirely consistent with the original work.

The reason was unknown—it might have been due to a difference in self-perception, though that wasn't certain—but he simply had medium-length white hair and heterochromatic eyes, one blue and one yellow, and that was it.

The iconic stitched face hadn't appeared at all. With such a different appearance from the original work, he naturally hadn't realized he was Mahito.

Yoshino Junpei asked timidly, "Um, Mr. Mahito?"

Mahito had just told Yoshino Junpei his name. It wasn't that he hadn't thought about picking another name or using his name from before transmigrating, but in the end, Mahito gave up on those options and decided to use the name Mahito. It wasn't because he thought highly of the name, but simply because it felt convenient. Besides, if he encountered an Innate Technique that used real names for curses, he could use the name "Mahito" as a shield. Whether it would work or not, there was no harm in trying.

"Sorry, I spaced out for a moment." Mahito let out a breath and put his embarrassment aside for now. "Where was I?"

"Yes, you were talking about souls," Yoshino Junpei said.

Upon realizing this person's name was Yoshino Junpei, Mahito understood that he hadn't transmigrated into some Tokyo god world, but into the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. There was no time to continue being leisurely; he had to start considering the future. After all, he clearly remembered that in Jujutsu Kaisen, the Special Grade Cursed Spirit Mahito was a central figure for various factions. If he didn't want to die, he had to find ways to increase his own bargaining chips.

Furthermore, transmigrating into a world he knew gave him a huge advantage—the power system was clearly laid out before him. He could calmly integrate and enhance his abilities without having to grope around in the dark; he could simply copy mature theories.

For example, the half-finished Thought Steel Seal he had just researched had never appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen, but similar theories had. Moreover, he knew exactly what heights Mahito could reach in the future. He could calmly master those skills in a short time; reaching the next level was practically a given.

After learning that he was a Cursed Spirit, his first reaction was: I want to undergo incarnation.

In fact, Mahito didn't know the benefits of incarnation at all, but he clearly knew that only after incarnation could one use Reverse Cursed Technique.

Ordinary Cursed Techniques use negative energy, while Reverse Cursed Technique uses positive energy. Cursed Spirits are beings made of negative energy, so they don't need Reverse Cursed Technique; as long as their Cursed Energy isn't depleted, they can slowly recover even if only their head remains.

Conversely, because Cursed Spirits are beings of negative energy, they simply cannot use Reverse Cursed Technique.

Mahito didn't need Reverse Cursed Technique either, but he needed to experience it personally. He might not possess it, but he couldn't afford not to understand it.

All techniques require the accumulation of knowledge from predecessors. To go further, he needed to understand as many Cursed Techniques as possible. As a highly special technique, Reverse Cursed Technique was of utmost importance. He might not know how to use it himself, but he had to possess the knowledge behind it.

For this, incarnation was necessary.

Aside from Reverse Cursed Technique, Mahito didn't know any other benefits of incarnation. However, those standing at the peak of this world all had physical bodies. Even Tengen, who was currently ascending into a "higher life form," had maintained a human physical body for a long time.

He didn't know the benefits, but following that example certainly wouldn't hurt. He would simply imitate it, and whatever happened afterward could be dealt with later.
