GA: Chapter 136: [Supreme Detachment]— Absolute Rationality

They had never undergone any formal language learning — at most, they'd had limited exposure to humans in the past. And the humans they'd interacted with wouldn't necessarily have been from Huaxia. It could have been any country in the world.

And yet that limited exposure had been enough to learn. That was more than a little frightening.

Or perhaps the mutated killer whale simply possessed the innate ability to comprehend language.

Qin Tian pushed the thought aside. What mattered most right now was eliminating the mutated giant octopus. As for working alongside the mutated killer whale — he wasn't the kind of combatant who craved one-on-one fairness or sought duels on principle.

As long as the enemy was neutralized quickly and prevented from causing greater catastrophe, the method didn't matter.

"ROARRR!"

"Click click!"

"ROARRR!!!"

Under the watching eyes of Huo Yu and the others, a man and a mutated killer whale launched their assault on the mutated giant octopus together.

Individually, neither Qin Tian nor the killer whale was decisively stronger than the octopus — but fighting in tandem, they pushed it firmly onto the back foot.

Violent tremors and scorching fire — the most destructive forces imaginable — crashing against the heaviest darkness.

"It seems like... there's nothing left for us to do?"

Huo Yu watched the fight with a mildly strange expression.

Qin Tian, Chen Bing, and herself — and somehow she was the only one who hadn't contributed anything.

Why did she suddenly feel like the deadweight in a three-person squad?

"You could join in."

Chen Bing had recovered well enough by now. She watched the battle without particular expression.

"Three against one?"

Huo Yu was a little tempted. That didn't sound unreasonable.

"No — four against one."

"Screech!"

The words had barely left Chen Bing's mouth when a clear phoenix cry rang through the sky.

Huo Yu looked at the frozen surface of the ocean and shook her head with mild helplessness — though no matter what she did, she couldn't quite hide the smile tugging at her lips.

"What am I going to do with you two."

"Ganging up on a single opponent? That's basically my favorite thing."

RUMBLE RUMBLE—

Across the frozen ocean surface, countless fire-element summons blazed toward the mutated giant octopus, latching on and unleashing attack after relentless attack.

At the end of the day, Huo Yu was fundamentally a summoner.

And what summoner had ever been enthusiastic about fighting alone?

"ROARRR ROARRR ROARRR!!!"

Hammered simultaneously by Qin Tian, Chen Bing, Huo Yu, and the mutated killer whale, the mutated giant octopus had almost no room to fight back.

Every time the black mist began to spread, the killer whale's Tremor-Tremor Fruit power shattered it before it could take hold.

Huo Yu and Qin Tian's flames, working in tandem, merged into something even more devastating than either alone.

Across the frozen ocean surface, swarms of summons climbed onto the octopus's body and tore into it without any regard for their own survival.

Every time it tried to swing a tentacle, the limb was encased in ice in an instant and bitten off by the waiting summons.

If not for the formidable regenerative ability it had been relying on, it would have already lost the capacity to fight.

Even so — at this rate, it would be ground down to nothing before long.

Meanwhile, in the Douluo Continent world.

A young angel with exquisitely beautiful features — still carrying a certain youthful quality — arrived at Tenshi Hikari's palace.

She stood there looking thoroughly confused, not quite understanding the mission her teacher had given her.

Tenshi Zixin. Disciple of Celestial Base King Hexi. Sacred Right Wing. The one most likely to inherit the title of Celestial Base King in the future.

After the defeat of the Ancient Celestial Scum King Hua Ye, her teacher had suddenly handed her a task.

Go and guide a man from another world — one who was destined to ascend to godhood.

She understood the general idea. But what did "another world" mean exactly?

An unknown universe?

Come to think of it, Queen Kesha and Hikari-jiejie had been producing all sorts of things lately that she'd never seen or heard of before — things that even analysis couldn't fully explain.

Were those things from "another world"?

If so, that would make sense.

But why had her teacher also told her the longer she stayed, the better?

And it wasn't necessarily about guiding him either. If he had already chosen his own path, then the two of them would simply interact as equals.

"Something feels like Teacher didn't say everything she meant to say."

Tenshi Zixin turned the thought over in her mind.

"What's got you puzzled, little Zixin?"

A pair of soft, pale arms draped over Zixin's shoulders. Tenshi Hikari looked at her with amused curiosity.

"Thinking about Teacher's words."

Zixin answered honestly.

"The Celestial Base King — that mischievous Hexi — is basically just sending you out to find yourself a man."

Hikari thought of Hexi and gave a light, dismissive wave.

"98% compatibility. You won't find anyone more suited for you in the entire known universe."

The Sacred Knowledge Treasury's calculations didn't make mistakes. At that level of computational power, it was virtually indistinguishable from seeing the future.

Heaven knew how stunned she had been when she'd first seen that number.

She'd never imagined another universe could produce someone that perfectly aligned with Tenshi Zixin.

And honestly — it was a little frustrating. Zixin wasn't even six hundred years old yet and she'd already found someone this compatible. Meanwhile, Hikari had been fighting for over seven thousand years and...

Angels were beings who longed for the arrival of love.

Nothing captivated an angel more completely than love.

Before, she'd at least had the Galaxy Power to dream about. Now she had nothing.

"A — a man?"

The moment the words landed, Tenshi Zixin's cheeks went red.

Scenes she'd imagined before floated up in her mind — what it might feel like when love finally arrived, how things might unfold with someone like that.

Her face turned a deeper shade of crimson.

"You're already embarrassed and we haven't even started. You really are adorable."

Hikari watched Zixin's flustered expression and couldn't resist poking her cheek.

"Though winning him over isn't going to be simple."

"That person has been developing a tendency toward something divine lately. What was the phrasing he used? [Supreme Detachment]?"

Supreme Detachment wasn't the absence of feeling — not cold indifference or emotionlessness. It was simply absolute rationality.

It meant his emotions would no longer disturb his thinking — no longer compromise the logic of his judgment.

He would still love someone. Still talk with friends. Still experience joy, excitement, sadness, anger. But none of those feelings would influence his thinking, disrupt his plans, or move him to act irrationally without reflection.

Like the way he could lay out arrangements across an entire world — distributing various strength-enhancing items in different proportions across different regions, in calibrated ways. Setting the conditions for an eventual victor in advance, then letting all living things wage their conflicts and accelerate the pace of civilizational evolution.

The casualties that resulted from that — even Huaxia suffering injuries and deaths because of it — would provoke no reaction from him.

Even if people he knew well — former classmates, Huo Yu, Qin Tian — were to die, it would be the same.

For him, this was the most ideal state of mind. Unaffected by emotion. Able to dedicate himself entirely to his plans. Standing outside the world as an observer, in perfect unity of knowledge and action.

Honestly, Tenshi Hikari didn't think there was anything wrong with a mind like that. It was a rare and precious quality — the state of mind most longed for by the leaders of civilizations.

But Tenshi Hikari did not want Bai Xuan to truly become that.
