Chapter 1 - The court of Shiva

Mumbai

Inside a luxurious and spacious room, a 29-year-old man was sleeping on a king-sized bed, lying on his stomach. He was wearing only trousers, his upper body bare, with half of his face hidden under his arm. The cool breeze from the balcony gently played with his hair, while a strange calmness rested on his face. Sunlight slowly filtered through the curtains and fell directly on his eyes, making his brows twitch in irritation. Annoyed, he turned to the other side, and once again, that calm and composed expression returned to his face. Just then, his phone rang. Without even opening his eyes, he picked it up and answered the call, placing it near his ear. It was his assistant.

"Good morning, Boss…"

Before the assistant could say anything further, a deep, cold, and commanding voice interrupted him.

"If you called this early just to wish me good morning… consider your job at risk."

Hearing this, the assistant's throat went dry, and fear instantly crept into his voice.

"B-Boss… I—I called because there's something important…"

The man's tone turned even colder.

"If it's not important… start looking for another job."

The assistant quickly gathered courage and spoke.

"Boss… Ranawat is arriving in India today for his new consignment. It's scheduled for tonight."

Hearing this, the man's expression slightly changed. His brows furrowed, and a sharp seriousness appeared in his eyes.

"The moment he lands, I want updates. Assign two men on him and keep eyes on him every second… like a hawk."

"Y-Yes, Boss…"

There was a brief hesitation before the assistant spoke again.

"Boss… when will you be coming to the office?"

A moment of silence followed, heavy and suffocating.

"Seems like you're bored of your job."

"No, Boss! I'm sorry! I didn't mean—"

Before he could complete his sentence, the call was disconnected. Ignoring everything, the man got up from the bed, picked up a towel, and walked straight into the bathroom. He hung the towel on the hook and turned on the shower. Water streamed down his muscular body, making his already sharp features even more striking. His deep blue eyes carried a dangerous charm, the kind that could attract or destroy.

After twenty minutes, he turned off the shower and stepped out wearing a bathrobe, drying his hair with a towel. He walked into the changing room and soon emerged dressed in a perfectly tailored grey business suit. The suit fit his muscular body flawlessly, enhancing his already commanding personality. Standing in front of the mirror, he adjusted his hair, sprayed deodorant, and wore a branded watch on one wrist along with a trident bracelet on the other. After putting on his shoes, he picked up his phone and slipped it into his pocket. Then, opening a drawer, he took out a gun and tucked it at his waist before walking out of the room.

He came downstairs and sat on the head chair of the dining table. The entire hall was silent, with only servants present. He glanced around once, then leaned back, placing one elbow on the chair and resting his fingers against his forehead before closing his eyes.

Time passed—one minute, two minutes, five… and then fifteen minutes. Exactly after fifteen minutes, the dining table, which was empty before, was now completely filled with family members. He opened his eyes, looked at everyone once with his deep gaze, and spoke in a calm yet intimidating voice.

"You're fifteen minutes late. From tomorrow, I want everyone at the table sharp at 9 AM. Otherwise, consider your breakfast cancelled."

His words carried such authority that no one dared to argue. Everyone silently began eating. His grandmother finally gathered courage to speak.

"Beta… we wanted to talk to you about something important."

Without even looking at her, he replied coldly—

"If it's about marriage, I'm not interested."

A few suppressed laughs were heard around the table. His grandmother smirked slightly.

"Not everything is about your marriage. It could be something else too."

She then continued,

"You have to attend my friend's granddaughter's wedding in Banaras."

He paused briefly before asking,

"When?"

"In two days."

"Fine."

His quick agreement surprised everyone. No one expected him to agree so easily, making the atmosphere slightly suspicious. Before anyone could question further, a sudden commotion was heard outside the mansion. He immediately stood up and walked outside, followed by the rest of the family.

Outside, a crowd had gathered. A middle-aged woman was sitting on the ground, crying uncontrollably. Beside her lay the lifeless body of a young girl, around nineteen years old. Her clothes were torn, and her body was covered in wounds. The sight was horrifying. The woman stood up, folded her hands in front of him, and spoke while crying.

"Look at what that monster did to my daughter… she did nothing to him… she went to college, and when she didn't return, I went searching for her… and found out that he took her… he had been troubling her for days… and today he ruined her… left her like this near the river… she was all I had… and now she's gone… I brought her here to you…"

Hearing her words, his brows tightened, and the veins on his forehead became visible. Anger spread among everyone present. Yet, his voice remained calm.

"Go to the police."

The woman folded her hands again, tears streaming down her face.

"I heard… no one leaves your door empty-handed…"

He looked at her and asked,

"What do you want?"

With trembling lips, she replied,

"Justice."

A faint, dangerous smile appeared on his face.

"Justice…? You will get it. This is Shiva's court… and here, injustice does not exist."

He turned his head slightly and called out,

"Aryan."

"Yes, Bhai?"

"One hour. I want him in front of me. Find him, no matter what."

Then he looked at another man.

"Arjun, go with him."

"Yes, Bhai."

After they left, Shiva sat on the stairs, lit a cigarette, and waited. The entire family stood behind him in silence. After about forty-five minutes, Aryan and Arjun returned, dragging a man along with them. The man was injured, bleeding, and trembling in fear. The moment he saw Shiva, he collapsed at his feet, begging for mercy.

Without any reaction, Shiva grabbed him by the collar and slapped him hard. The force of the slap sent him crashing to the ground. Shiva lifted him again and began punching him repeatedly until his condition worsened. Throwing him down, Shiva pulled out his gun, loaded it, and aimed it at the man's head.

"You enjoy destroying lives? You think you can get away with it? You don't deserve to live."

The man cried desperately.

"Forgive me, Shiva Bhai! I won't do it again! Please let me go!"

But Shiva's expression didn't change.

"You should've thought about that before. It's too late now."

Then, unexpectedly, Shiva walked to the girl's lifeless body. He placed the gun in her hand, held her finger on the trigger, and aimed it at the man. Without hesitation, he fired multiple shots. The bullets pierced the man's chest, and within seconds, he collapsed lifeless on the ground.

Silence filled the air.

But this time, it wasn't fear.

It was satisfaction.

Justice had been served.

The woman folded her hands again, thanking Shiva with tears in her eyes before leaving with her daughter's body. One by one, the crowd dispersed. Shiva calmly tucked his gun back at his waist and turned towards the house.

"Before I come back… everything should be clean."

"Yes, Bhai."

Without another word, he walked inside as if nothing had happened.
