Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Giant Catcher

The middle-aged gentleman looked back in confusion, then turned back to look at Grin in confusion.

Finally, he simply tore the portrait down and held it up next to Grin's face for comparison.

The young man before him did indeed bear a striking resemblance to the figure in the portrait.

"Is this portrait you?"

"It's me."

"Is it?"

"Yes, I was much thinner back then."

"But this is a wanted poster?"

"What?" Grin was dazed. "Wasn't this taken down from the VIP section?"

The middle-aged gentleman shook his head and guessed, "An intern must have posted it in the wrong place. I'm certain the guy in the portrait is a criminal."

Rem pulled Grin back in a panic, covering Grin's mouth with one hand while waving the other dismissively.

"No, Mr. Clerk, Green-kun was mistaken."

Emilia followed up with an explanation: "Right, this guy is my knight. We have a travel permit issued by the Mejereis Household. Please, Mr. Clerk, just register him as an attendant."

The middle-aged gentleman checked the travel permit Emilia handed over and nodded after confirming it was correct.

"Don't worry, I obviously know this young man was joking. The real child agitator was caught long ago."

"Attendant Grin, registered. Guests, please keep your identification documents safe."

Having finally entered the room, Emilia immediately put her hands on her hips and began lecturing Grin.

She reached out her delicate hand and gave Grin's head a firm poke.

"I'm starting to worry about letting you go out on your own. Honestly, how could you try to claim the identity of a wanted criminal?"

Grin looked up guiltily at Emilia's huffy little face.

Damn it, which blind idiot posted that portrait randomly?

Fortunately, because of the [Queen Snow White] entry, his appearance had improved significantly and was somewhat different from before.

Before, he was just a bit handsome; now, he was likely a threat to the existence of those known as Tomato users.

Rem also nodded in concern.

"Green-kun, how about Rem goes with you?"

Poor Green-kun, what if it rains later and he doesn't know where to hide? What if he gets hungry? Rem is so worried.

After Grin repeatedly promised to act with extreme caution, the two girls finally let him leave... "According to Otto's letter, his warehouse should be on the west side of the middle section of Grocery Street."

Grin walked along the capital's main street, cradling his right arm and stroking his chin.

The cries of street vendors rose and fell, and the sounds of merchants and customers haggling wove together into the most vibrant urban symphony.

Several ornately decorated dragon carriages drove slowly past, the profiles visible through the windows carrying the leisure of the nobility.

The vendors beside the carriage tracks stepped aside one after another, their eyes hiding a bit of awe and envy.

This was the first time he had slowed down to appreciate the scenery of the Royal Capital.

In the past, he was always hiding and playing cat-and-mouse with the capital's Guards.

"That Mansion should be the House of Astrea. It looks even more magnificent than Roswaal's Mansion."

A massive complex of buildings was constructed on the gentle hills on the west side of the capital.

It avoided the hustle and bustle of the main street, yet by virtue of its innate sharp edge, it became the most striking presence on this high ground.

The contemporary Sword Saint, Reinhard van Astrea, came from this family.

Just as he approached the edge of the Mansion, a commotion reached his ears.

"Catch him!"

"Don't let him get away, that damned thief!"

Hearing these familiar shouts, Grin reflexively found cover and hid.

"What the hell, is peeping illegal now too?"

He cautiously poked his head out to look.

Grin then realized these Guards weren't there to catch him, but were chasing a big guy about two meters tall.

"Hey! Is that Mr. Grimm? Quick, help us stop that thief! He actually dared to climb into the House of Astrea's Mansion to steal, he's got a death wish!"

Grin was speechless. Why was it this Guard Captain again?

Was the security force in the Royal Capital really this understaffed?

Before he could respond...

The big guy being chased also spoke up.

"This old man is just looking for a relative, I didn't steal anything, you blind tin-men!"

Grin looked closely; this guy was also an acquaintance.

The big guy was actually Old Man Rom. It looked like he had climbed into the Astrea home to look for Felt.

Old Man Rom ran close and finally saw Grin as well.

"Little Grimm, weren't you caught? Never mind that, quickly throw some lime into these bastards' eyes!"

Grin's single-core brain was starting to struggle.

This world was too bizarre; he suddenly Felt like going back to the inn to seek some comfort from Rem.

Watching Old Man Rom run toward him, Grin suddenly remembered something.

The unlocking condition for "Giant Catcher Jack" seemed to be capturing a giant.

Isn't the Old Man Rom in front of me from the Giant Race?

After a brief brainstorm, a perfect plan leapt into his mind.

Thinking of this, Grin quickly reached out and gave Old Man Rom a pull.

"Wait, Old Man Rom!"

Old Man Rom of the Giant Race only Felt a strange force on his arm, dragging him to a halt by sheer strength.

The [beast prince] entry came with a "Taijutsu" ability, which had strengthened his physical body.

Even without Beastification, he had still gained quite a bit of solid muscle.

"Run, Little Grimm! If we both get caught, no one will go to save Felt!"

Grin patted Old Man Rom's shoulder heavily and comforted him: "Don't worry, Old Man Rom, these are all our own people."

At this time, the Guard Captain also ran over with his squad.

Seeing Grin holding Old Man Rom steady, the few of them finally Felt safe enough to gasp for air, using the chance to recover their strength.

"Thank you for your generous assistance, Mr. Grimm."

As he spoke, the Guard Captain wanted to take over the arrest of Old Man Rom.

Grin quickly blocked him: "Wait, what do you think you're doing with your hands? This is my former boss, Old Man Rom."

Speaking of which, Old Man Rom still owed him half a month's wages.

The Guard Captain Felt a pang in his heart; he had finally thought he could earn a great merit, but he had run into someone with connections again.

"This... Mr. Grimm, we also received an arrest warrant issued by the House of Astrea.

Moreover, there are a large number of citizens watching here. If we don't arrest him, we won't be able to give an account."

This Guard Captain was actually quite diligent; whether it was Grin's wanted poster or his judgment, this bastard had been the one to arrange them.

Grin walked over to Old Man Rom and signaled for him to lower his head to communicate, otherwise, with Old Man Rom's height of over 2.2 meters, it was really hard to whisper.

"Old Man Rom, you don't need to worry about Felt. That girl is living very comfortably right now."

Old Man Rom rubbed his large bald head and replied:

"I see, but this old man won't feel at ease until I see her with my own eyes.

I heard she was taken away by someone from the House of Astrea. This family's security level is extremely high; this old man was discovered as soon as I climbed in."

"Old Man Rom, I think you can go to the prison to lay low for a while. Later, I'll notify Felt to come and bail you out."

Old Man Rom immediately refused: "What? This old man isn't going. The Royal Capital doesn't even have a cell suitable for a giant."

Grin quickly added: "You don't have to stay in a cell, I can let you stay in the guardroom. Their food is great, and there's even beer to drink!"

"Beer? Hiss... this makes it very difficult for this old man."

Old Man Rom fell into deep thought.

Grin was now dressed quite impressively, and even the Guard Captain respected him.

This kid had definitely mixed into the upper class of the Royal Capital.

His relationship with Felt had always been good, so he wouldn't go so far as to deceive this old man.

Looking at it this way, he really could get beer to drink.

The Guard Captain overheard a little bit of the content, and a look of terror suddenly appeared on his face.

He suddenly Felt like the sky was falling and quickly took two steps back.

"Actually... actually, we're all a bit exhausted. Mr. Giant, why don't you try running away again!"

"Right, right, right, I sprained my ankle..."

"My stomach hurts, I can't run anymore..."

Grin urged anxiously: "Not good, Old Man Rom, they want to go back on their word!"

"That won't do! Ever since the stolen goods warehouse was seized, this old man hasn't had a beer in a long time!"

At that moment, the giant made up his mind.
