Cherreads

Chapter 44 - Chapter 40

Jay POV

We rushed to the hospital as fast as we could. The entire ride was chaos.

Aum was gripping MJ's hand so tightly that his knuckles had turned white, while Mica was trying her best to stay calm but her face showed how much pain she was in.

The moment we entered the hospital, nurses rushed toward us.

Jay: Can you both walk?

Aum & Mica: No...

Jay: Okay!

I turned toward the nurses.

Jay: We need two stretchers here. Now.

One of the nurses immediately called for help.

Nurse: Doctor! We have two pregnant women whose water just broke!

Within seconds doctors and nurses were moving around us. Aum and Mica were placed on separate stretchers and rushed toward the maternity ward.

Everyone followed behind.

Aum and Mica were eventually placed in neighboring rooms.

I held both their hands.

Jay: Breathe, okay? Just breathe.

Both of them nodded.

The doctor checked Aum first.

Doctor: She's ready. We need to take her in now.

MJ immediately stepped forward.

Jay: Stay with her.

MJ: I will.

Aum was wheeled inside while MJ followed.

The doctor then checked Mica.

After a few minutes he came back.

Doctor: The baby isn't quite ready yet, but it won't be long.

We all nodded.

The waiting began.

I paced around the hallway for what felt like forever.

Then suddenly I remembered something.

The kids.

I quickly walked over to where Keifer was sitting with them.

Jay: Babies, did you all eat?

Kai: We ate, Mom.

Kath: Yeah! Dad gave us food.

I looked at Keifer.

He simply smiled.

I smiled back.

Kyle: Did you eat, Mom?

I froze.

Jay: Umm... yes?

Immediately all the kids narrowed their eyes at me.

Kaya: Don't lie, Mama.

Uh oh.

Kaya: I know you didn't eat. You've been worrying about Tita Aum and Tita Mica all day.

She reached into her little bag and pulled out a foil packet.

Kaya: Here.

I opened it.

A sandwich.

My eyes instantly softened.

Jay: Thank you, baby.

Kaya: You need energy too.

I hugged her tightly.

Jay: You're too sweet.

I returned to the waiting area and finally ate.

Minutes turned into hours.

Everyone was anxious.

Rina was nervously twisting her fingers.

Gorya was pacing.

Kaning kept checking the time.

Angelo, Aries, Percy, Keifer, Ren and the rest of Section E and F4 were all waiting.

Then—

A loud baby cry echoed through the hallway.

Everyone immediately stood up.

The delivery room door opened.

The doctor stepped out smiling.

Doctor: Baby A is a boy.

The entire hallway erupted.

Cheers.

Clapping.

Tears.

Laughter.

The doctor chuckled.

Then he disappeared back inside.

A few minutes later another softer cry filled the air.

The door opened once again.

Doctor: Baby B is a girl.

This time everyone was practically jumping.

But I didn't care whether they were boys or girls.

I immediately stepped forward.

Jay: How is the mother? How are the babies?

Doctor: They're all healthy. The babies are perfect and the mother is doing well, just exhausted.

I finally let out the breath I'd been holding.

Gorya: When can we see them?

Doctor: Soon.

Kaning: Okay.

Rina: She's okay... the babies are okay...

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

We all hugged each other.

A few minutes later MJ walked out.

His eyes were red.

The moment he stepped into the hallway we all rushed toward him.

Everyone hugged him.

Jay: Congratulations.

MJ: Thank you.

Keifer, Angelo, Aries, Percy, and everyone from Section E and F4 joined in.

For a moment it felt like everything was finally okay.

Then—

A scream echoed through the floor.

Everyone froze.

It came from Mica's room.

My heart dropped.

We rushed inside.

Mica's face had gone pale.

She was breathing rapidly.

Sweat covered her forehead.

Jay: REN! CALL THE DOCTOR!

Ren immediately ran.

I grabbed Mica's hand.

Jay: Look at me. Breathe with me. One... two... one... two...

Mica: I-I can't...

Everyone: You can!

Jay: Yes, you can. Come on, Mica.

The doctor rushed in and checked her.

Within seconds nurses began preparing her.

Doctor: We're taking her now.

Mica nodded weakly.

As they started wheeling her away, she suddenly grabbed my wrist.

I looked down.

Jay: Yes, Mica?

She took a painful breath.

Mica: You... will... name... my child...

Tears instantly filled my eyes.

Jay: I will. I promise.

She smiled weakly.

Then they took her away.

The doors closed.

And once again...

We waited.

This wait felt even longer.

Nobody talked.

Nobody moved.

The hallway was silent except for nervous breathing.

Hours seemed to pass.

Then finally—

A tiny cry echoed through the maternity ward.

The door opened.

The doctor stepped out.

A smile spread across his face.

Doctor: It's a girl.

For a second everyone simply stared.

Then cheers exploded through the hallway.

Jay: How is the mother? How is the baby?

Doctor: Both are healthy. The baby is strong and Mica is doing well.

Relief crashed into me.

My knees nearly gave out.

Both mothers were safe.

All three babies were safe.

That was all that mattered.

After a while, Aum and Mica were transferred into the same room.

The moment we entered, everyone rushed toward them.

The room instantly became noisy.

People were crying.

People were laughing.

Everyone wanted to hold the babies.

Aum looked exhausted but happy.

MJ hadn't stopped smiling.

Mica looked tired but peaceful as she held her daughter.

The twins slept peacefully in their bassinets.

The little girl beside Mica and calix yawned.

And everyone's hearts melted.

Then a nurse entered holding a clipboard.

Nurse: We need names for the birth certificates.

The room immediately became quiet.

Everyone looked at Aum.

Then at MJ.

Then at Mica.

Then at calix.

And finally...

At me.

I sighed dramatically.

Jay: Why am I always the one naming babies?

Everyone laughed.

I walked toward the twins first.

The little boy was sleeping peacefully.

I gently touched his tiny hand.

Jay: His name will be... Orion.

The nurse wrote it down.

Then I looked at the little girl.

She had bright curious eyes already staring around.

Jay: And her name will be... Lyra.

Aum: Beautiful.

MJ: Perfect.

The nurse smiled and wrote it down.

Then I moved toward Mica's daughter.

She was wrapped in a pink blanket.

Tiny.

Perfect.

Peaceful.

I looked at Mica.

She smiled softly.

I looked back at the baby.

Jay: Her name will be... Elara.

Mica's eyes instantly filled with tears.

Mica: It's beautiful.

Calix : elara amazing

The nurse wrote the final name down.

Nurse: Done.

The three babies officially had names.

Orion.

Lyra.

Elara.

Three little miracles.

As everyone fussed over the babies, took pictures, argued over who would hold them next, and showered them with love, I sat back and watched.

For the first time all day...

I smiled.

Everything was okay.

And our family had just gotten three members bigger.
