Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: The Reunion of the Brothers

The morning sun spilled golden rays across the living room of apartment 304, waking up a weekend that felt like a miraculous second chance at life.

Over a quick, cheerful breakfast prepared by Rupa, Rahul laid down the law for the day with a gentle, commanding authority.

"Today is Sunday, and neither of you is touching a single spreadsheet, financial report, or chore,"

Rahul declared, looking between Shreya and Rupa with a firm yet affectionate expression. "Your parents gave me strict orders, Shreya, and I intend to follow them to the letter. We are going out to have proper fun, no arguments accepted."

What followed was a day of absolute, unadulterated joy—a rare, beautiful escape from the shadows of their past. Rahul, Shreya, and Rupa hit the city's largest shopping district, laughing as they picked out quirky street snacks and walked side-by-side through the bustling crowds.

From there, they headed to a sprawling amusement park, where Rahul—despite his usual stoic, guarded demeanor—was effortlessly dragged onto high-speed rollercoasters by an enthusiastically relentless Shreya. As the cars plunged down steep drops, both of them screamed and laughed like teenagers who had never known a single day of hardship or betrayal.

They caught a late-afternoon movie, sharing a massive tub of buttery popcorn and whispering commentary like old times, before finally heading back toward the apartment as the evening city lights began to twinkle against the twilight sky.

Throughout the entire day, the heavy air of grief that had haunted Rahul's return was entirely replaced by the pure, golden warmth of friendship. They were healing, stitch by stitch, mending the tattered edges of a timeline that had once seemed permanently shattered.

Yet, as they reached the third-floor corridor and Rahul slid the key into the lock of apartment 304, a subtle, electric sense of anticipation hung in the air. Rahul pushed the door open, stepping inside—and froze dead in his tracks.

Before he could process the dim lighting of the hallway, a familiar figure lunged forward from the shadows of the living room, tackling him in a fierce, overwhelming bear hug that knocked the breath right out of his lungs.

"You absolute coward! You backstabbing, stubborn fool!"

The voice was thick with raw emotion, cracking audibly under the heavy weight of tears and furious relief. Rahul gasped as the sheer momentum pushed him backward against the wall, but as his arms wrapped instinctively around the familiar frame, his eyes went wide.

It was Ravi.

Standing right behind him in the doorway, beaming with tears in her eyes and a radiant, knowing smile, was Ravi's future wife—Rahul's newly adopted sister.

Rahul stared over Ravi's shoulder, completely dumbfounded, his mind struggling to bridge the gap between continents and phone calls. "Ravi?! What... how on earth did you get here?!"

Ravi pulled back just enough to punch Rahul lightly on the arm, his face flushed with a mixture of righteous anger and overwhelming joy. "You think you're the only smart strategist in this city?! You absolute cheater, you called me last night, dropped a cryptic bomb about taking care of her, and hung up before I could even grab my jacket!"

Ravi caught his breath, wiping a stray tear from his cheek with the back of his hand as his voice quivered. "Last night, after your call, I was beside myself, pacing the floor until dawn. But then I talked to Shreya on the phone—she called me right away after you arrived at her place! I realized that after you left my office, you came straight here instead of hiding forever. So I didn't waste a single second. I packed my bags, booked tickets, and brought along my future wife—your newly minted sister—straight to this doorstep!"

Shreya and Rupa stood in the entryway behind them, watching the emotional scene unfold with glowing, tear-filled smiles. Shreya had planned the ultimate surprise, coordinating secretly with Ravi late last night to ensure all the scattered pieces of their broken brotherhood were finally brought back together under one roof, right where they belonged.

Rahul looked from Ravi to Shreya, the sheer magnitude of their unwavering loyalty crashing over him like a warm, cleansing wave. For thirty agonizing months, he had walked alone in the dark, believing he had to carry the crushing burden of his exile entirely by himself to protect everyone he loved. But standing there in the crowded hallway, surrounded by the people who had refused to let him fade into history, Rahul finally understood the ultimate truth.

He wasn't a ghost anymore. He was home.
