"Damn, you are hot."
Leon exclaimed in awe while being mesmerized and gauging every single detail of the extraordinary beauty standing in front of him.
5 minutes earlier—
Leon, after realizing that he was drifted off on an island, began walking along the shoreline, searching for anything useful he could find. He searched for almost an hour, but he didn't find anything useful. Eventually he stopped walking and looked toward the jungle behind the beach. Some scary roars were coming from there. So he decided to take a break.
Leon sat down on the warm sand. He let out a long breath as the exhaustion of walking finally caught up with him. The beach was all around him, the steady rhythm of waves washing against the shore sounding almost peaceful compared to the chaos he had survived only hours earlier.
His clothes were still wet with saltwater and were uncomfortably to his skin, and every muscle in his body was aching from fighting the ocean's currents. For the past hour he had walked too much, scanning every patch of sand and every piece of driftwood for signs of life or anything useful. Yet the result of that search had been painful.
Leon lowered his gaze to the sand beneath his feet, quietly gathering his thoughts. He realized panic would only waste energy, and he had already lost quite some. He needed to stay calm, think carefully, and move one step at a time. The island was unfamiliar, but it was still just land, and land meant resources. Even so, the situation still hurt his mind. Only a few hours ago he had been surrounded by thousands of people on a luxury ship. Now there was nothing but wind, waves, and the sound of strange birds somewhere beyond the trees.
Just as Leon began to push himself up from the sand, a sudden sound echoed clearly inside his mind.
Ding.
A sound came into his mind, it echoed slightly. Leon stood up as a reflex of hearing the sound. Then something of a faint blue glow appeared in front of him.
Some lines started forming in front of him. Finally, a text displayed.
[Island Overlord System Activated]
Leon blinked several times, looking at the floating message. He wondered if the shipwreck had done irreversible damage on his head. He still reached forward and waved his hand through the display.
His fingers passed through the blue light without resistance and the screen did not disappear or change. Instead it remained fixed directly in front of his vision, moving with him in every direction he looked.
Leon made a frown face.
"So… I've officially lost it," he muttered under his breath. "I guess, too many system novels."
Before he could dismiss the strange phenomenon completely, new lines of text appeared across the interface.
[Candidate identified]
[Compatibility confirmed]
[Welcome, Candidate Overlord]
Leon kept staring at those words. He could not comprehend the situation.
"....Definitely, a system novel." He said.
The moment he said this something changed. The interface which was floating before, suddenly started wiggling. Some light passed through it. It formed a ball like structure. Then, that ball of light landed on the sand in front of him and a woman came out from within it.
The woman who emerged had silky red hair. She was wearing a black net see - through dress. Her laced underwear and bra could be seen clearly. Her voluptuous breasts bounced when she moved or spoke while her nipples were just barely covered by the triangle ends of the bra.
Leon raised his gaze.
"Well," he said, "that's new."
"Damn, you are hot."
Leon exclaimed in awe while being mesmerized and gauging every single detail of the extraordinary beauty standing in front of him.
The woman checked out Leon Longwood from up to bottom. She scorned, with disdain and a hint of disappointment in her eyes. Then, she moved forward.
"Greetings, Candidate Leon Longwood," she said and scoffed.. "I am the System Host or spirit assigned to guide you through the Island Overlord System. You have been selected due to exceptional compatibility with the system's requirements."
Leon crossed his arms loosely, studying her movements.
"Selected for what exactly?" he asked.
The Host gestured lightly toward the glowing interface beside her.
"The Island Overlord System exists to cultivate individuals capable of conquering and developing isolated territories," she explained. "Candidates are provided with structured growth paths, system guidance, and rewards in exchange for successfully establishing control over their assigned island."
Leon looked at the jungle behind him then, turned again towards the woman.
"So in other words," he said, "I'm supposed to build my empire out here."
"In simplified terms, yes," the System spirit replied.
A new interface opened beside her, displaying three glowing panels.
"Every candidate begins by selecting a foundational development path," she continued. "Your choice will determine the direction of your growth within the system."
The first panel brightened.
[Territory Expansion System]
"Focus on exploration, territorial control, and infrastructure development," the Host explained. "Rewards include mapping abilities, structural blueprints, and territorial expansion skills."
The second panel lit up.
[Beast Taming System]
"This path specializes in taming and commanding wild creatures native to the island. Successful candidates may form powerful beast armies capable of defending and expanding their domain."
The third panel followed.
[Gardening System]
"This path prioritizes agricultural mastery, resource cultivation, and sustainable food production."
The Host folded her hands calmly.
"You may select your preferred development path now."
Leon studied the glowing panels for a moment. Then, he got lost in thought and started shaking here and the.re
Finally he shook his head slightly.
"None of them."
The Host blinked.
"I beg your pardon?"
Leon pointed casually at the three options.
"They're all too restrictive," he said. "Exploration, beasts, farming… they're basically telling me what kind of person I'm supposed to become." He explained. "I don't like that."
"I mean, I would understand if we are talking about cat girls n stuff but FARMING, are you serious?" He expressed.
The Host's expression changed, it looked like she had not expected anything like that..
"Candidate selection is required," she said carefully.
Leon leaned back on his hands, looking far more relaxed than someone stranded on a mysterious island should be.
"I think I'll pass," he replied. "I'll figure things out my own way."
He paused for a moment before saying with a grin, "Besides, if I'm stuck on an island, I'd rather spend my time enjoying life instead of following some preset development template."
"I JUST WANNA PENETRATE WOMEN THEN." He said loudly in a joking manner.
The Host stared at him. For several seconds she said nothing at all.
The system interface flickered.
Suddenly a series of rapid notifications appeared.
[Warning…]
[Candidate has rejected all initial development paths.]
[Searching for alternative compatibility…]
The screen flashed repeatedly as if struggling to process an unexpected input.
Leon watched the messages with curiosity.
"Well," he said, "that does not look good."
"Are they going to remove my golden finger?" he shifted.
The flickering slowed.
The interface stabilized.
A new notification appeared across the glowing display.
[Island Overlord System acknowledged user preference.]
Leon tilted his head slightly.
"Huh, that was… fast."
Another line appeared immediately afterward.
[Subsystem Initialized: Penetration System]
Silence settled across the beach. Leon glanced toward the System Host. She was in disbelief looking at the System message and was confused about the whole situation.
Leon's smirk slowly returned.
"Well," he said lightly, "looks like the system is more flexible than you expected."
The System Host was baffled by the situation. Leon felt amused watching her looking like a complete idiot.
Whatever this strange system was, it seemed like it was on his side and a journey of never ending stories was about to begin.
