Chapter 44 - Daenerys's Learning Role Model

"Emperor Luo Bao assembled a 300,000-strong army from Yi Land, dividing it into thirteen columns to slaughter their way across the Juggernaut Plains. They came solely to kill, slaughtering everyone they encountered—men, women, and children alike—and taking no slaves. Every Jaha Tribe they encountered was harvested like wheat under a scythe.

Our people were massacred, our livestock plundered, our tribes burned to the ground. The once verdant grasslands were reduced to scorched wastelands by the flames."

The Old Zebra Man paused, and a deathly silence fell over the hall. After a moment, he sighed mournfully, "One million. At least one million died that day—nine out of every ten Juggernaut People. The entire Juggernaut Plains wept, and the Zebra People's blood covering the earth was its tears."

"Ultimately, the great Juggernaut People achieved victory," Daenerys said softly, offering comfort.

To be honest, although Yi Land bore the title of Golden Celestial Dynasty, its people had nothing in common with the Great Celestial Dynasty. Their customs, cultures, races, religions, political systems—almost everything differed.

Even their worlds were different.

She felt no kinship with the Yi Land, and even less empathy for the Zebra People. Her comfort of the Old Zebra Man was merely a matter of hostly courtesy.

Moreover, she found Emperor Luo Bao rather reckless and not particularly bright.

Why had he led the entire nation's army into the Juggernaut Plains?

Was it simply to kill?

The true goal should have been to eradicate the nomadic threat at its root.

He could have easily picked them off one by one, exploiting the Zebra People's sophisticated "Jaha—Jahata" political structure, and cultivating a group of assimilated Zebra People as "horse traitors."

As long as the Juggernaut People remained divided, the nomadic tribes, with their less advanced productivity than the Yi Land, would never pose a serious threat again.

Killing was futile. The vast grasslands would remain, where grass grew, horses grazed, and people multiplied, eventually forming tribes.

When the Huns fell, the Khitan rose; when the Khitan fell, the Jurchen filled the void; then came the Mongols.

An almost endless cycle.

"That time, we truly felt the threat of annihilation. In response, the Juggernaut People united as never before, all tribes submitting to the great Zanzha Jahata." The old man's voice grew impassioned as he reached the turning point of his story.

Daenerys asked curiously, "Why did you only unite under the Jahata after reaching such a desperate point?"

*One million of our people are dead, and your reflexes are still this slow?* she thought to herself.

"Ah, Khaleesi, I must apologize for scrambling the order of the story," the old man said, waving his hand dismissively. "Back then, we didn't have the Jahata system yet. Like the Dothraki today, each Jaha Tribe acted independently, even warring amongst themselves."

"Emperor Luo Bao actually helped us in a way. His ruthless slaughter forced us to abandon our fragmented tribal structure. That's how the first Jahata was born."

Daenerys glanced at the Dothraki in the hall, who were listening intently. She desperately wanted to shout at them: *Remember this! This is the important part!*

"You probably wouldn't guess this, but the first Jahata, Zanza, was a woman! She was a warrior born and bred, with an extraordinary leadership aura. In the shortest time possible, she united over a thousand warring tribes."

Daenerys was both surprised and delighted. *The first Jahata was a woman!*

*You fools! Not only should you be marking this, but you should be circling it in red! After we leave, you'll each write me a post-reading essay of over eight hundred words!* Daenerys's inner demon roared at her Dothraki underlings.

"A remarkable woman—truly a model for all women to emulate," Daenerys couldn't help but reveal some of her true feelings.

The old Jhogosnai man, oblivious to the ambition simmering beneath her words, took her praise at face value, believing she was genuinely admiring his ancestor. His wrinkled, tanned face split into a smile that crinkled like a chrysanthemum in the firelight.

"Emperor Luo Bao was already an unparalleled overlord in Yi Land, but Zanzha Jahata surpassed him in valor and strategy. Facing a multi-pronged encirclement by the enemy, she devised a strategy of 'Disperse and Converge.'

First, she had her people scatter and hide, cutting off the Yi's ability to forage locally. Simultaneously, the dispersed tribes engaged in guerrilla warfare—burning grasslands, ambushing scouts and supply teams, and poisoning water sources to dehydrate the enemy.

Khaleesi, you must understand that the situation was dire. Even if all our tribes united, we could not have defeated even a single one of Emperor Luo Bao's thirteen armies in a direct confrontation.

We might have won against one, two, or three, but our people would have been exhausted, and we could never have eradicated all thirteen armies."

Daenerys nodded. "So, the goal is to disperse the Yi forces again?"

"Yes, the guerrilla forces in various regions forced them to divide their troops, which played perfectly into Zanzha Jahata's 'One-Point Convergence' strategy.

She gathered all her elite Zebra Warriors in one place. No matter how many enemy columns attacked, she focused her entire force against a single one, crushing them with overwhelming superiority and suffering minimal losses herself.

After annihilating three enemy armies in this manner, Emperor Luo Bao finally began preparing to change his strategy.

Soon after, news reached the emperor's tent that the fourth Yi army was being harassed by tribal guerrillas—exactly the same situation as the previous three times.

Emperor Luo Bao deduced that the main force of the Juggernaut People was near the fourth army.

He immediately led his Royal Guard to rapidly approach the fourth army's encampment, galloping through the night like a star.

*Heh heh heh*, Emperor Luo Bao had no idea this was Zanza's true objective.

The Yi sought to exterminate the Juggernaut People, but Zanzha Jahata also craved the sweet taste of revenge. She intended to utterly destroy Luo Bao's empire.

The Great Jugsna Wilderness was riddled with natural traps, and a perfect ambush site lay on the road to the fourth army's position.

In that battle, Emperor Luo Bao's entire army was annihilated, and he himself fell to the valiant Zanzha Jahata.

After that, the tide of the war completely turned. Without their emperor, the Yi army became like a headless dragon.

Whenever the Zebra Cavalry rode before the Yi lines, carrying the crowned head of Emperor Luo Bao impaled on their lances, the Yi warriors' morale would crumble. Half their forces would scatter and flee before our cavalry even charged.

The formation of the remaining half was as loose and weak as an old grandmother's milk paper. After a single charge by the Zebra Cavalry, they would either flee in wailing terror or drop their weapons and kneel in surrender.

Daenerys sighed inwardly. Those Yi people truly...

"Hahaha!" The Old Zebra Man threw his head back and roared with laughter, as if a few cups of wine had transformed him into one of Zanza's Zebra Warriors.

"Not a single one was spared. Those who surrendered on their knees, those who fled on horseback—all were hunted down one by one by the Zebra Cavalry. The Great Wilderness is vast, and they are not natives. Where could they possibly escape?

Initially, they swore to slaughter every herder on the Juggernaut Plains. Now, thousands of miles from Yi Land, that desolate plain has become the graveyard of three hundred thousand soldiers."

The slaughter of the invading Yi was not an end, but a new beginning.

Zanza Jahata led thousands of Zebra Knights across Yi Land, their charge unstoppable as they stormed cities and razed fortresses. The Yi had indeed run out of soldiers.

Over the next few years, Yi Land paid ten times the price for the million Juggernaut People Luo Bao had massacred. With this, the Luo Clan's Crimson Dynasty came to an end.

Weary from slaughter and plunder, Zanza returned to the grasslands with countless slaves and treasures. From that day on, only the Juggernaut People raided others; no other nation dared invade the Great Steppe again.

Ser Jorah scoffed. "The entire Yi Land doesn't have ten million people. Where did you find ten times that number to slaughter?"

Daenerys spoke directly to the Horsemen: "You must remember the glorious deeds of Juggernaut's Zanza Jahata."

This was no longer a matter of highlighting key points or circling important phrases; it needed to be a standalone chapter, a magnificent epic.

Ideally, she wanted all the Horsemen to believe that "Daenerys Khaleesi = Zanza Jahata."

Unfortunately, her idea had come too soon.

The old Jhogosnai continued, "Our Jahata possesses an heirloom passed down through generations—a goblet crafted from the skull of Emperor Luo Bao. The muscle was stripped away, and the skull was adorned with gold.

"If you, Khaleesi, were ever to visit the Juggernaut Plains, I am certain Jahata would use it to host you."

*How very kind of you. Thank you for warning me in advance. I will certainly never visit your lands in the future.*

"Oh, I remember now," Jorah suddenly exclaimed, his eyes turning to the old Zebra Man with a look of realization. "A few days ago at the docks, I encountered an Easterner mother and son. Their sea vessel was about to depart, yet the little boy was clinging to the railing, clamoring to go down and watch the Pyromancer's acrobatics.

"His mother, in a low voice, threatened him, 'If you don't behave, I'll give you to Zanza the Zebra-Face after dark tonight.' The child immediately fell silent, his face turning ashen, and didn't dare make another sound."

"Is that zebra-faced Zanza Jahata one of your ancestors, Your Excellency? Or is it just a coincidence of names?"

"Hahaha!" Old Jhogosnai laughed proudly. "That mother and son must have been Yi people wearing silk robes, right?"

Jorah shook his head. "I've always lived on the Western Continent, so I can't distinguish between Easterner races. But their clothing was indeed different from ours—distinctive and with a noble air."

"They must have been merchants from the Golden Celestial Dynasty. Even after thousands of years, the Yi people still remember Zanzha Jahata. Mothers whisper her name to scare their naughty children with those twisted, terrifying tales.

'Zebra-faced Zanza' was just one of her many epithets. There was also 'Cruel Zanza,' 'Brain-Eating Zanza,' and 'Bride of the Demon.' And because she never bore children, they called her 'Barren Zanza' as well."

The old man spoke casually, showing no anger at these names. Daenerys even caught a hidden pride in his eyes.

Just hearing those names, any man would probably have trouble getting hard when faced with the "Barren Zanza."

*So, she couldn't even get pregnant if she wanted to!*

Daenerys didn't want to be called "Barren Daenerys," "Cruel Daenerys," or "Zebra." *Oh, right, it should be "Horse-Faced Daenerys."*

This was another point worth emphasizing, not for the historians to highlight, but for Daenerys herself to remember as a warning.

*Hmm, from now on, I must definitely establish the position of Historian.*

The Daenerys who was "The World's Most Beautiful Woman," "The Lofty Flower Beyond the Reach of All Men," "The Devout Saintess," "Wisdom Like the Great Sun, Beauty Like the Pale Moon," "The Merciful Mother of God," "Mother of Free Peoples," and "Torchbearer of Civilized Light"—all these could become part of her posthumous title. *Ahem, the kind of title that stretches for hundreds of characters.*

Oh, and "Perfected Elder" and "Eternal Emperor" could also be borrowed.

Thinking of this, a strange smile crept across Daenerys's lips. *Zanza is still no match for me after all!*

*Even with her "zebra face," she still can't match my thickness of skin.*
