The Chimera, currently in the middle of feeding, suddenly stopped.
Its three heads swayed in the night, sniffing constantly, while eyes of different colors peered in every direction, and it spread its wings uneasily.
The Chimera's sense of smell was extremely keen.
It smelled the scent of 'danger'.
Just then, the sky suddenly grew dim, much like when the Chimera's body had obscured the cave lion's vision. It looked up, and in its field of vision appeared a majestic and imposing Dragon, its pitch-black scales shimmering with silver light.
"Chimera, humble subspecies."
"Bend your knees and crawl, kneel down!"
The Red-Iron Dragon's voice, thick and thunderous, rolled from his mouth.
To the Dragonkin, the Chimera's appearance seemed deformed and ugly, devoid of any aesthetic appeal; calling it a 'Chimer-ugly' seemed more fitting.
However, the Chimera before him was quite powerful. If it could be tamed, the Molten Iron Tribe would gain a fierce warrior.
Garros inherited the pragmatism belonging to the Iron Dragon.
He did not mind the Chimera's appearance and was willing to give it a chance to submit to him.
"Get out of my Domain!"
The Chimera spat out some mumbled, indistinct dragon language.
It was a semi-intelligent lifeform similar to the Earth Rampage Bear, possessing a certain amount of intelligence, but not much.
Its three heads stared in unison at the Red-Iron Dragon, their eyes full of burning Battle Intent. There was no look of fear; instead, it was restless and eager to try.
Whoosh—it flapped its wings, and its massive body took to the air.
"Not running away, but charging at me instead."
"How truly foolish."
Garros's Dragon wings tore through the clouds as he dove down. His Frostburn Scales rubbed against the air at high speed, beginning to absorb heat.
The Chimera's three heads roared in unison.
The central red head opened its maw, flames surging between its crisscrossing fangs, and it was the first to spray a scorching pillar of fire from its throat.
Facing the incoming Flame Dragon Breath, the Red-Iron Dragon did not dodge or evade.
Boom!
His strong body forcefully pushed against the Flame Dragon Breath, splitting it apart as he closed in on the Chimera inch by inch.
The flames, capable of melting earth and stone and burning steel into liquid, landed on his body, yet only caused his scales to turn slightly red and crack.
Garros had high fire resistance.
This bit of damage was painless and itchy.
After realizing that the scorching breath was almost ineffective, the Chimera decisively stopped the meaningless expenditure, raised its sharp claws, and charged at the Red-Iron Dragon.
At the moment of closing in.
Garros unfolded his right wing; the blade-wing, like a sharp weapon, tore through the air and slashed toward the Chimera's red head.
The Chimera felt the danger of death and dared not take it head-on. The red head hurriedly retracted to dodge, while the lion head simultaneously opened its maw, its sharp teeth biting toward the wing membrane.
Unexpectedly, Garros's right wing nimbly deflected, and the spear-bone at the tip stabbed toward the lion head.
Riiip!
Although the Chimera's reaction speed was fast, and it turned its head to dodge to the side immediately, the lion head's cheek was still grazed by the Dragon wing, leaving a gash deep enough to see bone, dripping with blood.
Roar!
The lion head let out a mighty roar, its mane flying.
The invisible yet tangible lion's roar soundwave spread at close range and instantly hit the Red-Iron Dragon, causing his movements to stiffen as he entered a stunned state.
The Chimera's sharp claws struck violently, slapping toward the Red-Iron Dragon's neck.
Clang! The claws collided with the scales and spines, sparks flying everywhere. A burst of cold air erupted from between the shattered scales, falling onto the Chimera's claws and forming a layer of frost. Those snapped-off spines, hard and sharp, embedded into its body, drilling into its flesh.
The Chimera let out a painful howl.
Under this blow, Garros only shook his neck slightly; the Frostburn Scales on his neck had some harmless cracking and indentations, while the Chimera suffered from cold erosion and spine damage.
It was furious and desperate; the other claw, already raised, did not retreat and struck heavily against the Red-Iron Dragon's chest.
Clang!
Sparks and spines shot out simultaneously, and the cold air eroded along the bloody holes pierced by the spines, making this fire-attribute Chimera feel the pain of cold needles piercing its flesh.
Two claw attacks.
The one taking the hits was the Red-Iron Dragon, but the one injured was the Chimera.
After about a second, Garros broke free from the stunned state.
Tier 3 Dragon Qi spinning!
Enhanced Claw Attack!
The Dragon claws were wrapped in black-red Qi currents, their attack speed skyrocketing. With lightning speed, they bypassed the Chimera's defense, digging directly into the Chimera's chest and abdomen, tearing flesh and snapping bones.
The Chimera howled in pain, kicking out, its goat hooves scraping harsh sparks against the scales of the Dragon's abdomen.
Its strength was immense.
The Red-Iron Dragon tore off a large chunk of flesh and took the opportunity to retreat. At the same time, he tensed his tail muscles. The scales on both sides of his Dragon tail rose with a metallic clanging, layering and colliding to merge into a red-hot giant blade, and a spear-tip-like structure popped out from the end of the tail.
Tier 3 Dragon Qi spinning!
Enhanced Tail Attack!
Dragon Qi surged and circulated.
The Dragon tail swept out as fast as lightning, at a tricky angle, bringing up a trail of crimson, fire-like afterimages.
Puchi!
After a momentary resistance, the massive lion head flew into the sky. The flesh at the severed neck was charred black like charcoal, as if seared by flames, and not a single drop of blood flowed out.
The Chimera was as if struck by lightning, its body trembling violently, and both the Dragon head and the goat head howled simultaneously.
One head being severed completely enraged this giant beast.
Its four eyes were blood-red; it had been consumed by pain and rage, losing its remaining reason.
Mee-oo—its goat head opened its mouth to emit a strange, layered sound, like some unspeakable incantation. Immediately after, black-purple veins bulged from its body, wriggling like living things. Its body also swelled accordingly; under the skin, it seemed stuffed with asphalt, and with the pumping of its heart, the entire body expanded several times over.
It was worthy of being a Wild Monster Lord capable of lingering in the southwest for so long.
This guy possessed powerful skills that ordinary Chimeras did not have, and it was extremely powerful.
At this moment, the Chimera seemed to have entered a berserk state; both its speed and strength were amplified. It roared, its two heads attacking from left and right, coordinating with its claws and hooves to engage the Red-Iron Dragon in a fierce close-quarters battle.
Dense attacks landed on the Red-Iron Dragon, and the Frostburn Scales cracked one by one.
The biting cold air spread and surged outside his body. The nearby Chimera bore the brunt of it, its body covered in a layer of ice crystals that shattered with the movement of its body, only to re-condense, repeating the cycle.
It was constantly eroded by the cold, making its movements sluggish.
The Red-Iron Dragon's counterattacks, however, were not sluggish and were unaffected by the cold.
He was fierce and sharp; every time the parts of him that were like weapons struck, they left huge gashes on the Chimera. In the blink of an eye, the Chimera was covered in blood, its body riddled with terrifying wounds deep enough to see bone.
At the same time, Garros could clearly feel heat energy constantly accumulating and rising within his body.
"Without needing to accumulate to the limit, I seem to be able to use it to enhance my Dragon Breath as well."
Due to the limited intensity of the battle, Garros was still able to spare some Divided Soul to ponder during the fierce fight.
The first time heat energy accumulated, it wasn't very obvious, but this time, under his careful sensing, he felt that there was indeed an extra organ within his body for storing heat energy, a structure like a jade plate.
When he focused his mind on it, the heat energy accumulated within began to boil, flowing and releasing toward other places.
In an instant.
The Frostburn Scales on the Red-Iron Dragon's body cracked on their own even without taking attacks; high heat rose, turning them a red-hot color.
Just like red-hot iron.
Rolling heat waves escaped from the cracks and the gaps between the scales, colliding with the cold air that hadn't dissipated yet, steaming into thick smoke that twisted and rolled along with the heat waves.
The herds of beasts at Sword Cliff shivered, their legs going weak as they collapsed to the ground.
Whether they were herbivores or carnivorous Vicious Beasts, all of them felt as if their hearts were being gripped by an invisible giant hand, and they dared not move.
"If I hold it back and don't use it to enhance my Dragon Breath, the heat energy will dissipate quickly in this way."
Garros felt hot all over, carefully sensing the state of his body.
The rolling heat waves spread out, forming a Domain of extreme high temperature, but every second of release would lower the heat energy value, weakening the power of the subsequent Dragon Breath.
"If this attack is to have maximum power, it needs to be unleashed at the first opportunity; the timing must be grasped very well."
The Red-Iron Dragon pondered in his heart.
Opposite him, under the influence of the terrifying sense of crisis, the Chimera's gaze suddenly became clear.
It let out a fearful howl, flapped its wings, and began to flee, dragging its scarred body away from the Red-Iron Dragon.
Unfortunately, it made the wrong choice.
If it had directly started begging for mercy and chosen to submit and pledge loyalty, it would still have a chance at life, but for running away, the only result awaiting it was death.
Garros's gaze fell upon the Chimera.
He opened his Dragon maw, and flames surged between his fangs. Immediately after, they transformed into a crimson beam of light that seemed capable of destroying the heavens and the earth. Wherever it passed, it ignited the sky into a sea of fire, sweeping toward the Chimera with an inexhaustible and unstoppable momentum.
If it were the Chimera in its prime.
In the situation where it chose to evade at the first moment, it could have avoided this exceptionally conspicuous and mighty attack.
But now, it was covered and swallowed by the extending Flame Dragon Breath, and after two or three seconds, it stopped struggling.
Whoosh—Garros breathed out.
The scales on his body gradually returned to their normal color.
When the Dragon Breath dissipated, the Chimera's body had disappeared, leaving no bones or remains, turned into ash and dust.
A Wild Monster Lord who had occupied this place for many years just like that ceased to exist.
