Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: One Good Turn Deserves Another

He restrained Sixth Master's movement.

"What? Do you have something else to say?" Mono said.

"I want to go with you."

Staying here alone felt unsettling.

"No." Mono shook his head.

The present situation was different from before. Neither of them was in good condition.

Going out together would only hold each other back, and a larger target would be easier to expose.

"Are you... going to abandon me...?" Sam's lifeless eyes looked at Mono.

Mono was speechless: "What nonsense are you talking again? We're friends. How could we abandon each other?"

How could he possibly abandon Sixth Master?

Not to mention Sixth Master's off-the-charts combat power, she had just saved him.

He wasn't a heartless monster.

"Besides, didn't we agree? To escape this world together."

Mono continued,

"Don't you believe me?"

Hearing this, Sam stopped moving.

"We... are friends?" she said faintly.

Mono nodded: "Of course. Is there any doubt?"

Their goals were at least aligned for now. By any measure, they could be considered friends.

"But, you're weak. Going out is dangerous. What if you die..." Sam's eyes, for once, showed genuine worry.

After all, without a weapon, Mono couldn't even defeat a single Ceramic Figurine.

Mono's mouth twitched, he couldn't help but exclaim: "What are you trying to say!!? Curse me? You idiot, stay put!"

Annoying. He was weak?

So what if he was weak?

Ninety percent of the world is made up of the weak.

Without the weak, how would the strong stand out?

In other words, the strong are merely appendages of the weak.

How ignorant!

Mono comforted himself.

Sam was about to say something more, but Mono glared at her:

"Shut up. One more word and I'll gag you."

Sixth Master's movements halted.

Looking at Mono's frustrated face, a trace of confusion appeared in her eyes again.

Was he angry again?

However, thinking of what Mono had said, she didn't speak up again.

If they were friends, then surely... they should trust each other.

Mono stood up again and walked towards the door.

Sam watched silently.

Mono's back wasn't tall. Compared to the surroundings, he even seemed small and immature.

But...

"Mono..."

Sam unconsciously murmured the word again.

...

Dragging his heavy body, Mono maintained steady steps and finally walked out of the room.

After locking the door, his body suddenly staggered.

He then leaned against the wall.

His head felt fuzzy.

Mono knew this was a symptom of excessive blood loss.

"Hah~"

After adjusting his breathing slightly, Mono stood up again.

Although he felt uncomfortable, he didn't regret it.

One good turn deserves another. This was a principle he always followed.

Mono took steps forward again.

Under his sleeve, a hemostatic bandage was wrapped around his arm.

...

Mono had already carefully explored all the rooms on the second floor.

Besides the Master Bedroom where Sixth Master was, there was a Tea Room, a Study, and a Game Room.

He found a key in the Game Room.

It was the key to the large door in the corner of the first-floor hall.

If he opened the first-floor door, it led outside towards the school Cafeteria.

The Kitchen inside must have food and water.

However,

Mono suddenly recalled the scene inside the Cafeteria from the game.

Groups of frenzied Ceramic Figurines crowded the entire space, a dark, massive swarm.

After only a moment's hesitation, Mono inserted the key into the lock.

"Creak~"

The door slowly opened.

A faint, indistinct clamor immediately came from deep within the corridor.

Mono slowly took steps, walking into the corridor.

The Cafeteria corridor was different from the Teaching Building's corridor.

Tiles covered the walls, and the floor seemed somewhat slippery.

Standing on the tiled corridor, Mono looked around and found the sound was coming from a partitioned area.

The Cafeteria was just on the other side of the wall.

There was no entrance to the Cafeteria on the corridor.

Mono walked forward. Before long, a beam of light suddenly projected from the wall onto the dimly lit corridor.

He looked up.

A square vent was located at the top corner of the wall.

"Is that the Cafeteria over there?"

Mono looked left and right, then silently walked under a Food Cart.

The vent was a bit high; he needed something to stand on.

Placing his hands on the Food Cart, Mono leaned his body slightly and pushed forward with force.

The floor was somewhat slippery, and the meal cart was loaded with a large pile of unwashed dishes, making it quite a struggle for Mono to push.

This made Mono think of Sixth Master once again.

If she were here, she could probably push it easily.

Fortunately, the four corners of the meal cart were fitted with casters, so despite the difficulty, Mono managed to push the cart to the corner of the wall.

After positioning it correctly, Mono began climbing up the metal pole.

Once he climbed onto the meal cart, he continued climbing up the towering stack of bowls and chopsticks.

Finally, he reached the highest point.

However, there was still some distance to the vent window.

He silently calculated the distance in his mind.

"Whoosh~"

Mono slightly bent his legs.

In the next moment, he leaped directly toward the window.

"Thud~"

His hands grasped the edge firmly.

With a burst of effort, Mono flipped himself up.
