Jay's Pov
Mom: "So Keifer how did you know about Jay?"
Keifer: "Well, I heard someone was poaching my clients and I had to know who it was and that's how I found her, and If I am being honest I was totally impressed by her work and wanted to join her just so we could not go out of business."
Almost what he said was almost the truth, he wanted no competition but it was actually him who saved my company but he didn't say that and I know why and a knowing smile came on my face.
Dad: "Ofcourse that's my daughter, she is the best."
Keifer: "Well… it's hard but I'll agree."
And everyone laughed,
Mom: "But why are you guys here? Why aren't you in your apartment or the hospital ?"
Keifer: " Well she was unconscious and I thought it would better here and I can take care of her here."
Jay: "Yeah mom, plus he is actually great even though he behaves like a jerk sometime." I said to lighten the mood because I don't want him remember about the hospital.
Mom: "Hey, I think you are the rude one, he Is actually really well mannered from what I have seen."
Keifer: "I believe you have really good instincts."
I just showed the face at him,
Mom: "So Keifer what about your parents what they do?"
He face instantly losses it's colour,
Jay: "Mom." I call her out and nod my head in a no,
My mom understands and,
Mom: "Ohh, Sorry."
Keifer: "No, it's okay, My mom is .."
When he is about to complete,
Jay: "I forgot my tablets."
Keifer: "I'll bring it." He says and leave the room,
Jay: "Mom, don't ask him about that."
Mom: "Okay"
Dad: "but how was she supposed to know "
Jay: "Now you guys do."
Then Keifer comes in with the juice glass,
Mom: "Keifer, I think she asked for the tablets."
Keifer: "No, Ma'am, I have mixed the tablets in this since doesn't like them or take alone."
My mom's face turned into a surprise smile as soon as he said that,
Mom: "Wow, that's so nice of you and you know what if you want you can call me Mom."
Then Keifer's face changed suddenly, I don't why but it felt like he got accepted by my family and now he is a part of it too,
And I wanted this for him because after hearing what he went through he deserves this, a family that loves him.
Mom: "Now, give me that I'll feed her."
Keifer: "Okayy.. Mo..m." He says with a trembling face with happiness,
He hands over the glass and mother start to feed me,
Then after that the nurse come in for the check up and goes and as usual Keifer kept asking her thousand questions if everything is alright. And I couldn't help but notice my mom observing every moment of Keifer,
Jay: "Mom, what are you doing?"
M: " Jay, do you have feelings for him?"
Jay: "What? What are you talking about?"
M: "Had he ever told you that he like you or something like?"
Jay: "Mom."
M: "What? i think he does."
I scoffed thinking she doesn't even the real reason why we became friends, if she does there is no way she will say this about him,
Jay: "There is nothing like that and why are you talking like this?
M: " Come on he takes care of you by bringing you to his house, mix the tablets in the juice like you are a kid, and asks the nurse a thousand question about you, I mean who does it just for a friend, you'll know one day and that day you will tell me yourself."
I just gave her look and did not reply,
M: "And you know what, I think he is a good guy, he will take good care of you and I think you have my blessings."
Jay: "Mom, please he is going to hear you."
She just laughs it off and then Keifer comes,
Keifer: "Guys the food is ready, please come."
Then everyone leaves the room and I reflect on the words that my mom just said and
I just shake it off just and slowly retire to sleep
Author's Pov
Keifer and Jay's parents are seated in the dinning table,
Dad: "Keifer."
Keifer: "Yes, Sir."l
Dad: "I have to say this, Thank you for taking care of my daughter, I don't know what else."
Keifer: "You are welcome, but there is no need for that, I just did what I had too.
Mom: "No Keifer, You don't understand, she did not have many friends going up and she didn't care about it because she was way too focused on her goals, but I know she just needed someone to be there for her in ways that we couldn't, she just doesn't let anyone take care of her that easily. So I am just happy that she has you now and I know she is just calm and happy with you, I have rarely seen this side of her, So Thank you for that."
Her mom said things without saying it, indirectly saying that he is the one that her daughter needs,
Both Keifer and her mom knew what they were talking but both of them did not acknowledge it.
Then after eating Keifer made them go their room to rest and went to Jay's room, she was still sleeping.
He went and sat beside and took her hands in his and started talking,
Keifer: "Your mom said, that you are calm and happy here, I don't know if that's how you feel but if you do, then I need nothing else, because that's what I want, I want you to be happy with me, I want you know that I love you."
He says and slowly caresses her hair and place a soft kiss on her head.
Mom: "Yes!!, I knew it." Her mom who was peeping outside squealed silently, realising she was right and her daughter has someone who genuinely cares and loves her.
