In the Yaoyorozu family's limited edition Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Togata Mirio was like a total country bumpkin, touching the seat cushion that was even softer than a sofa, and patted his chest. "Man, I'm so nervous. This is my first time riding in a car this fancy."
The driver in the front seat tried hard not to laugh out loud.
He still muttered "hick" to himself with contempt.
Unlike other students who flew off to various pro internship locations, the "Nighteye Agency" Arthur was going to wasn't far from U.A.
So he just let Togata Mirio drive them there.
"By the way, do you take that thing everywhere with you?"
Togata Mirio pointed at Pet Shop, who had a fierce expression, sitting on the combination lock box containing Arthur's hero costume on the side of Arthur's seat.
"Is there a problem?"
Arthur shot back.
"Ah... no, not really."
Togata Mirio awkwardly scratched his face and explained, "Actually, don't think of the teacher as a super serious guy. He actually values humor a lot and doesn't really like things with scary expressions..."
Before they knew it, the car had arrived.
According to the special rules for this work experience, students were allowed to wear their combat suits, so he'd brought the combination lock box.
Pet Shop stood on Arthur's shoulder, and with Togata Mirio leading the way, they walked up to an office building.
There was no sign of a typical agency outside the door.
'Is this really okay...'
Remembering his teacher's eccentric personality, Togata Mirio thought to himself.
Still, he quickly led the way, bringing the guy and the bird up to the top floor.
Click.
"Teacher, I brought Arthur."
After the door opened, Togata Mirio called inside.
In the dim room, only a tall, thin figure in a tight suit could be seen, sitting cross-legged in front of a computer, staring at the screen.
Arthur could see the U.A. Sports Festival broadcast playing on the computer.
"You're here? The media's praising you like crazy now. 'The World's Strongest Quirk,' it's honestly over the top."
The man stood up from the swivel chair and turned around.
He was tall and thin, wearing a tight suit, with slicked-back hair, rimless glasses, and a very serious expression.
All Might's former sidekick, Nighteye.
The first impression Arthur got was that this guy wasn't easy to get along with.
But the moment he saw Arthur and Pet Shop standing on his shoulder, Nighteye's expression changed completely.
Even Togata Mirio and another female assistant dressed like a cat girl were stunned.
They'd never seen Nighteye make a face like that.
Arthur didn't have telepathy, so he had no idea why Nighteye reacted that way the second he saw him.
After nearly half a minute, Nighteye's expression barely returned to normal.
He adjusted his glasses and said, "Arthur, right? Let me introduce myself. I'm Nighteye, the president who personally invited you to this agency."
"Yeah."
Arthur responded.
"For this work experience, your specific tasks are already set."
Nighteye continued. "Lately, in this city, there's a yakuza group called the Shie Hassaikai. They've been pretty restless, and according to investigations, they seem to be involved in some shady deals. Your main task is to investigate with Mirio and look for this group's criminal activities. I've also heard about your time-stopping Quirk."
Nighteye paused briefly, took out a listening device the size of a fly, and said, "After you find members of the Shie Hassaikai, use your time stop to plant this listening and tracking device on them. Do not engage them at all."
"Are you helping me get stronger, or are you using my Quirk to solve your own problems?"
Arthur crossed his arms, already looking annoyed.
He didn't mind doing stuff for other people, but only if it benefited him.
Nighteye had been talking for a while, and all he talked about was his own problems.
In Arthur's opinion, there was zero benefit. He might as well go lie down and play in Hawaii again.
Nighteye habitually adjusted his glasses again. "In my 'sight,' I've already helped you a great deal."
Arthur raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Nighteye fell silent for a moment, then said, "I can't tell you that yet. You'll experience it yourself very soon."
"Teacher... has never lied. At least not since I started interning here."
Togata Mirio cut in.
Arthur's gaze sharpened slightly. "Fine. All Might's old sidekick probably wouldn't stoop to some boring lie like that."
Nighteye turned and took a photo out of his desk drawer, throwing it toward Arthur like a dart.
The World appeared, caught it, and held the photo in front of Arthur's eyes.
It was a man who looked under thirty-five, wearing a weird long-beaked mask.
"This is Chisaki, the current head of the Shie Hassaikai."
Nighteye said. "Same thing as before. Just plant the tracking and listening device on him, and do not tip them off."
Arthur had The World hold the photo up for Pet Shop to see for a moment.
Nighteye then said, "I'll leave it to you and Mirio. Go change into your combat uniform. You'll have combat permission for now, but if you can avoid using your Quirk, don't use it."
After Arthur and Togata Mirio left, Nighteye suddenly sat down, crossed his hands under his chin, and thought for a long time.
The female assistant beside him blinked. "Sir? Sir?"
Nighteye lightly raised his hand, signaling her to leave.
Then he slowly took out his phone and dialed a number he hadn't called in who knows how long.
"Hello... All Might? There's something I'd like to discuss with you in detail. It's about... One For All."
All Might, on the other end of the call, also looked seriously surprised.
After listening to Nighteye, he agreed to the meeting with a tense expression.
Twenty minutes later.
Arthur, wearing his self-designed Dio and Jotaro fusion outfit, and Togata Mirio were walking through the city streets.
Just as they were about to pass the first intersection, Arthur suggested they split up.
