The forest was kind of different now. They saw the changes as they walked past into it. The air felt lighter and older. It was like walking into a place that knew more than it was showing them.
Ashbound was walking ahead of them now. They were like guides. You could not see them all the time. They were always there.
Garrick said "Valtheris would not attack here in the forest." He was walking beside them for the time. "Not yet." he added.
Kael looked at him "You sound so sure about that." he said.
Garrick did not look at Kael.
"Every nation are careful near the Elven borders." Garrick said.
"That implies they're not afraid?" Lina muttered.
Garrick said "They are not…" and "They are just waiting for the right moment."
That did not make them feel any better. They kept walking. The trees were not as close together now. The path was easier to see.
Then Ronan stopped walking. He just stopped for a moment.
Elira noticed and said "What is it?"
Ronan did not say anything.
Something was wrong. It was not outside. It was inside him. He heard a voice. It was a familiar voice. It called to him "Ronan."
His hand closed into a fist. Then he saw a flash of light. He saw a hand reaching out to him. He felt tears. Then everything was gone.
Ronan took a breath and said "It's nothing."
Elira walked closer to him. Said "It didn't look like nothing."
Ronan said "It was memories…", after a pause. "Someone is calling my name." he added.
Tomas leaned in a little. Said "So, fragments of memories?"
Ronan nodded.
"Do you know whose?" Elira asked.
"No." Ronan said.
That was not entirely true, he knew something, but not enough to talk about it.
Garrick was watching Ronan. "It gets worse, doesn't it?" he said.
Ronan didn't deny it.
He looked on the holy crest symbol on his right hand "Every time I use this, I lose something." he said.
Kael looked confused. "And you still hold use it?" he said.
Ronan looked at him. Said "In times that I really needed it." he said.
He did not explain anything. He just told the truth.
They walked in silence for a while.
Then the trees started to move
They saw a town, it was small, but it was alive. It was built at the edge of something
"This town is near the border of Sylvaris and Kaelmyra…". Garrick said "This is the last town before we reach the Elven territory".
Elira took a breath and said "At last, we're safe, aren't we?".
Ronan's gaze lifted slightly toward the sky. "Not yet." he said.
The wind blew strong. Something moved far above them.
