Susan's POV
Seven years ago, there was a rogue attack that had killed my mother along with Luna and Beta. I was enslaved after that because the alpha, Roman Hernandez, believed that if my mother had done a better job, then his mate would still be here. Even though my mother was one of five wolves who tried to protect the Luna. The other four wolves managed to survive but were badly injured. When the alpha Roman learned of their survival, he had them executed in front of their mate and children so that they could feel what he felt.
My father hadn't even grieved my mother before he started a new life with a new woman right away. Which, even though I don't like to admit, did hurt me a lot to see him happy and taking care of the other kids. When he wouldn't even hang out or do stuff with me when I was living with him. I was snapped out of my thoughts when the door to the attic opened. I looked up and saw Ethan Hernandez, the soon-to-be alpha. He walked in and closed the door behind him while saying, "You are supposed to be in the kitchen right now.
So what are you still doing up here?" "I'm sorry I woke up with a bit of a late start. I will head down there right now," I responded to him. But as I walked by him, he punched me in the head and left without another word. Getting to the kitchen, I see all the other servants and slaves already working. Mrs. Hansen is waiting for me by the sink, which is where I normally work. Since no one likes to see my face when they are in the kitchen, along with the fact that no one likes me. As the water is warming up, I look around and don't see Alpha Roman.
I sighed in relief because if he were here right now, he would be hitting me. Ever since the attack seven years ago, my dad hasn't paid me any attention, and the Alpha hits me. While allowing the warriors and other pack members to abuse and rape me, I wish that my mom and Luna were here, because if either of them were here, they would try to protect me. Especially Luna Raven, since she was a victim herself. "Susan!" I heard someone yell, so I turned around and saw Stacy.
She is one of my dad's step kids and has never been nice to me. Stacy likes to bully me along with Ethan and a few other wolves. Everyone says that Stacy and Ethan are destined to be mates because of how they act around each other. I put a smile on my face and walked over to her while saying it. "Hi Stacy, what do you need?" "I need you to clean your bedroom and bathroom before Ethan goes in them." "Why can't you clean your own room?" She slaps and dumps water on my head while saying. "You dare talk back to me, you bitch."
After I finish washing the dishes, I head to Stacy's room and start to clean. I strip the bedding from the bed and bring it to the laundry room before continuing to work on cleaning up the floor. Once the floor is vacuumed, I head back to the laundry room to put the bedding in the dryer. Then I make my way into the bathroom and start to clean the toilet and bathtub before finally moving on to the sink and mirror. After checking to make sure that I cleaned everywhere. I head back to the laundry room to get the bedding.
Before going back to the room and making the bed, after leaving the room, one of the guards grabs my arm; he drags me to my basement cell. I head to one of the corners after being thrown into my cell and think about whether I would ever be able to escape his nightmare of a pack. After being in the corner for a bit, I headed to the bed and lay down. After about two or three hours, I get let out to clean the guest bedroom. Because apparently Stacy's friend from the Wind Winder Pack is coming to hang out for the weekend. I start by doing the same thing I did in Stacy's room, which is the laundry.
I then started to clean up the garbage from the last person who was there. After getting all the garbage out, I vacuumed the floor before moving to work on the bathroom; the sink is now clean. So I headed to the laundry room to get the bedding before heading back up and making the bed. I then do a double check to make sure everything is clean. Once I confirm that everything is cleaned, I put the cleaning supplies away and head to the kitchen to wash dishes once again."Susan!" I heard Alpha Roman yell my name, so I turned towards him, and he slapped my face before saying.
"Why did you not clean the guest room?!" I replied with, "I cleaned it like five minutes ago." "Really? Because Stacy and Megan said that you didn't. In fact, you made it messier than it was before.""They're lying," I say, trying to defend myself, but it was no use because he didn't believe me. "You will receive ten hard whips to your back." "You are to go to your cell without dinner tonight and tomorrow morning." "What! Why!" "Because you have been dishonest, and you tried to disobey an order from your future Luna."
I get grabbed from behind by two men who drag me back to my cell. I went over to one of the corners and pulled my knees to my chest as I started to cry. Because I lost the only food that I would get for the day. After a while, I go to lie on the bed and try to fall asleep. While I am lying down, I start to think about if my mate would want me or if he would treat me like everyone else does. I fell asleep with those thoughts on my mind. "Mom, what's going on? Why are people running and screaming?" "You need to run and go hide. We are under attack."
I took off running to do as Mom said. Then, nowhere, a wolf came and jumped on me. So I started screaming as it scratches me and rips my clothes, then another wolf shows up and attacks the wolf that was on me. Once I am on my feet, I start to run, but I don't get far because of my injuries. I ended up falling. Looking up, I see that I am in the woods. One of the wolves that was attacking came at me, but the same wolf that saved me earlier saved me once again and brought me back to the pack house.
Where the workers came rushing towards me and took me to a room before I passed out.
