Chapter 1 - The Price of a Life

The night belonged to him.

Zeke leaned low over his motorcycle, the engine roaring beneath him like a living beast straining against its chains. The road stretched endlessly ahead, city lights smearing into streaks of gold and white as his speed climbed higher with every passing second.

Wind screamed past his ears.

His heart pounded—not in fear, but in exhilaration.

This was freedom.

Not the quiet kind people talked about.

Not comfort. Not safety.

Freedom was this—riding the edge between life and death and daring the world to push back.

"Let's go a little further…"

His fingers twisted the throttle.

The engine howled.

The road curved sharply ahead, the asphalt still slick from earlier rain. Any rational person would slow down.

Zeke didn't.

He leaned into the curve.

Perfect.

For a split second, everything aligned. Control, balance, speed—it was flawless.

Then—

The rear tire slipped.

Just a little.

But a little was enough.

The world tilted violently.

Metal shrieked as the bike lost grip, sparks exploding into the night. Zeke's body slammed against the asphalt, tumbling, skidding, the world spinning out of control—

Pain flashed.

Then silence.

Darkness.

No body. No breath. No sound.

Only emptiness.

Zeke drifted in it, unable to tell how much time had passed.

Seconds.

Minutes.

An eternity.

Then—

A voice.

Cold. Mechanical. Completely out of place.

"Ad System initializing…"

"…What?"

"Binding host…"

"Compatibility confirmed."

Before he could process it—

Light tore through the darkness.

Heat slammed into him.

Smoke filled his lungs.

Screams echoed all around.

Zeke's eyes snapped open.

Fire.

That was the first thing he saw.

Flames devoured everything in sight, wooden homes collapsing into embers as the night sky burned crimson. The air was thick with ash and blood, the smell so heavy it made his stomach churn instantly.

"What… the hell…"

His voice came out weak.

Too weak.

Zeke froze.

These weren't his hands.

Small. Thin. Covered in dirt and scratches.

"…No way…"

A scream cut through the chaos.

Zeke turned.

A massive wolf-like creature tore into a woman, its jaws ripping through flesh as blood sprayed across the ground. Other creatures prowled the burning village, dragging bodies, crushing bones, feasting without restraint.

His chest tightened.

This wasn't Earth.

This wasn't anything close to it.

This was a world where the strong devoured the weak.

And right now—

He was weak.

"Move…!"

Zeke tried to stand.

His legs buckled instantly.

The body he was in couldn't even support its own weight properly.

"…You've got to be kidding me…"

A shadow loomed over him.

Zeke slowly looked up.

A beast stood before him, its muscles coiled, eyes glowing with hunger as it locked onto him like prey already claimed.

"…Seriously?"

The creature stepped forward, claws digging into the dirt.

Zeke's mind raced.

No strength.

No weapon.

No chance.

"…So this is how it ends again?"

The beast lunged.

And then—

[Action detected: Imminent Death]

Zeke froze.

"What…?"

Time felt like it slowed.

The creature was mid-air.

The voice continued, calm and absolute:

5s → Instant Evasion (No Cooldown)

15s → Enhanced Reflexes (15 min cooldown)

"…Are you serious right now?!"

The claws were inches from his face.

"5 SECONDS—GO!"

A bright screen filled his vision.

Completely absurd.

A cheerful voice rang out:

"Want fast results without the effort? Try QuickFlex™ today!"

Zeke nearly lost his mind.

"THIS IS NOT THE TIME—"

Ad complete.

Reward: Instant Evasion

The world snapped back.

His body moved on its own.

Zeke rolled to the side just as the beast's claws slammed into the ground where his head had been.

The impact shook the earth.

"…What the hell…?!"

He scrambled back, heart pounding wildly.

It worked.

It actually worked.

The beast turned, irritated.

Zeke's breathing steadied slightly.

Then—

[Action detected: Counterattack Opportunity]

5s → Minor Strength Boost (No Cooldown)

15s → Power Surge x3 (15 min cooldown)

Zeke stared at the options.

Fast.

His mind clicked.

The short ones had no cooldown.

"…So I can spam this?"

A grin flickered across his face.

"5 seconds again!"

"Build strength instantly with PowerSnap™!"

Reward: Minor Strength Boost

Power surged into his limbs.

Not overwhelming.

But enough.

Zeke grabbed a broken wooden plank nearby, forcing himself to stand despite the trembling in his legs.

The beast lunged again.

This time—

Zeke moved forward.

A reckless step.

A desperate gamble.

He swung.

The sharpened edge of the wood drove straight into the beast's eye.

It howled.

Violent. Agonized.

Its body thrashed wildly before collapsing to the ground with a heavy thud.

Silence followed.

Zeke stood there, chest heaving, staring at the corpse in disbelief.

"…I actually… survived…"

Then—

[Action detected: First Kill]

5s → Basic Loot (No Cooldown)

15s → Reward Multiplier x5 (15 min cooldown)

Zeke's eyes sharpened.

"…So that's how it works."

He looked at the dead beast.

Then at the burning village.

Then back at the prompt.

"…No rush."

For the first time since waking up—

He chose not to press immediately.

A slow smile formed instead.

"Let's think about this one…"

Ad System bound successfully.

The voice returned.

Final. Absolute.

Cooldown system active.

Higher-tier ads grant greater rewards.

Cooldown applies per tier.

Zeke let out a quiet breath.

Then he laughed.

Low at first.

Then louder.

"…This world…"

His grip tightened around the bloodied plank.

"…is insane."

In the distance, more beasts roared.

Stronger ones.

Faster ones.

More dangerous.

Zeke looked toward them—

Not with fear.

But with something far more dangerous.

Interest.

"If strength decides everything…"

His eyes gleamed.

"…then I don't need talent."

The system flickered faintly in his vision.

Waiting.

"…I just need ads."
