"And what if I do? Mum I've spent years pleasing this family. The one time I get to choose something very important for myself you still want to do that for me too?"
"Safi enough!" Layla Alvi snapped.
We only want what's best for our only child. Now look at the bright side, he's a young handsome man and a billionaire. What more do you want?"
"I don't even know him mum."
Have you bothered to find out who he is?
"No, and I do not care!"
Xain stood up and walked close to Safiya.
"Dear daughter of mine," he raised her chin with his hands slowly. "No one objects the instructions of Xain Alvi. You know what that means. He looked at her directly in the eye at the drop of his last words and goes upstairs."
Tears flowed down Safiya's eyes freely. She faced Layla bitterly.
"Mum are you sure he's my Dad?"
"Heyyy don't utter such abomination my dear. He's your Dad, and he only wants what's best for you."
"Mum he clearly doesn't know what's best for me. And I don't think you do too. She slumps in the Sofa and weeps more."
Layla just stood there. She didn't know how to console her only daughter. She knew her husband very well and his words were final.
Safiya suddenly stopped crying. She looked at the room weirdly.
"I'm not marrying that man." She started..." If he forces me I'll run away." She blurted.
"What? Are you out of your freaking mind?"
"Yes mum. I'm out of my mind, as a matter of fact, I'm going insane. Can't you see?."
"Run to where Safi? You know your father too well. He'll comb all nook and cranny to find you. He has the connection, he has the power! So don't even try anything stupid."
She brooded over her mum's last statements and realized she's right. Her Dad is that man. She stood up as if she had gone psycho.
"Then I'll kill myself."
"You must be out of your mind."
"Watch me." she said and ran into the kitchen to get a knife. Layla ran after her.
Before Safiya could get into the kitchen Layla had already slipped and fell.
"Ouch..." she screamed loudly enough to alert Xain who was upstairs. He ran down as soon as he heard Layla's scream. safiya on the other hand turned and saw her mum writhing in pain on the floor. She panicked. She never really wanted to kill herself. She just wanted to scare them. Now see what she has caused.
"Safiya!" Xain shouted in anger.
"What the hell have you done?"
Sayifa started trembling. "She.. sh.. she just slipped." She stuttered.
Layla was already loosing strength. Call the ambulance she managed to say.
"Ah mum please, I didn't mean to kill myself."
Xain ignored the both of them and called the security to rush Layla to the hospital.
Two guards rushed in and carried Layla out. Safiya just stood there speechless.
Xain was already enraged in fury. He faces Safiya with disdain. "No daughter of mine commits an abomination. Pray your mother survives this, else, you'll have me to contend with."
"Papa!" Sayifa cries out loudly holding Xain's robe
"Don't Papa me, he shrugged off her hands from him. Just pray nothing happens to my wife." He said and went out.
Safiya just stood there, she wished the ground should open and swallow her entire being. She felt so bad for her mom but she didn't know what to do at that moment. Should she rush to the hospital, or should she just sit and think about how her life is going to become miserable if she dares marry a man she knows nothing about. All these thoughts ran through her mind. No one could answer her questions. She just stood there without getting any answers. She felt betrayed and she felt being used by her own family. Now her action of trying to kill herself has landed her Mum in the hospital bed. Ronnie's call jotted her back to reality
"Hey bestie, how is it going?"
"Ronnie, she said camly, her eyes gathering tears and full of built up emotios. The worst has just happened, my mum just had an accident all because I attempted to kill myself and now I just pray nothing happens to her. Father is really angry with me."
"How come?"
"I threatened to kill myself and she wanted to stop me but unfortunately she slipped and fell."
"Geez, this is not sounding good at all"
"They wanted me to marry a man I know nothing about, just to save the failing company."
"Don't worry hold on right there. Where are you currently?"
"At home."
"Wait, aren't you supposed to be in the hospital?"
"See girl, I'm so confused right now, I don't know what to do. I hate to see my father's face right now."
"Okay just hold on, I'll be there in 30 minutes."
"Okay thanks" she dropped her phone and slumped on the sofa
After 40 minutes, Ronnie got to their compound and made way to see Safiya.
Her face was already crimson red. She suddenly felt pity for her. As soon as Safiya saw Ronnie, she got up to hug her.
"Can we quickly go to the hospital now? Ronnie asked impatiently. You know it's not good you are here, seeing you are the cause of her accident."
Safiya nodded and they both rushed out of the compound. They boarded a cab straight to the hospital.
"She had a hip Fracture, she needs to undergo surgery within the next 48 hours."
They heard Xain Alvi say to someone he was on call with outside the hospital.
Safiya and Rooney exchanged glances.
