Mother's scythe swept the trench as Juna feinted at its joint, dragging the torso's attention after her and off Hajin. He flung the Chain along their shelf, curling three sections beneath Cassie, Jonas and Toby before the edge reached stone.
"Grab something, and I mean something that isn't my sling!" he bellowed, hauling through his left hand.
The scythe bit where the contractors lay one breath earlier, splitting stone and spraying chips against Jonas's raised shield.
Hajin dragged all three under the overhang while his bent knees ate the recoil running up through his left grip. His right arm stayed strapped against his ribs, useless in its sling, while the shelf bucked and shuddered beneath him.
"Shit, okay, everybody still attached?" he wheezed.
"Mostly, Sir!" Jonas yelped, wedged beneath his shield.
