Cessy's fingertips touched the offered links while the caught scythes dragged against his loops, spitting violet fire across his glove. Hajin snapped the joining length shut around her wrist without loosening the brace, taking the contact straight through bare skin.
The first contact stung both their hands hard enough to make her fingers curl.
"Ow, mind the skin," Cessy hissed, turning her wrist inside the loop while her fire stayed gathered above it, "I agreed to lend you power, not leave my hand behind with the furniture."
"Keep it out of my core and you'll leave with every finger you brought," he shot back, feeding the tether through his left grip while the sling stayed pinned to his ribs.
She laughed through the sting and opened a channel beneath suppression, threading force through the links without eating their light. The power ran into his brace and sharpened its pull before he could judge what else rode in behind it.
