The world rejoiced and raised a glass at the death of the world's only calamity-class villain.
The kid had been in his mid-twenties when he became a problem the world couldn't handle.
He had an unknown, unique category-growth rank gift—it hadn't taken long for him to destroy half the heroes. In fact, the world stood close to zero chance against this villain.
Thankfully, even villains are human in the end, and he didn't fall to any outsider or heroic underdog—he fell to his own family.
Calamity-class villain Rail Opius stood in a pool of his own blood, burned and charred to a crisp. Barely alive and with a massive snowflake in his chest, even his blood was starting to freeze.
Before him stood the heroes who had come to stop him—his own family. His own blood. His own siblings. The cute little sister.
EX-rank hero Selene Opius—commonly referred to as Snow White and Pale Edge—her hair was cotton-white, her skin pale, and her eyes dark blue and puffy. As she looked at her older brother at death's door and knew it was her fault, no matter if she saved the world, this shadow would haunt her for the rest of her existence.
And then there was the annoyingly popular younger brother he secretly adored.
SSS-rank hero Leon Opius—commonly known as Red Scales—his dirty-blond hair moved in the wind as the flames around him flickered and dimmed from sadness. Even on death's door, he knew his older brother would never truly try to kill him, let alone blame him—tears streamed down his face.
"Big brother, why commit all this senseless slaughter of civilians?" asked the melancholic Leon.
"Why do this, brother? These deranged actions—slaughtering millions of innocent civilians and hundreds of heroes… Just… why? You could've been the best hero. You could've saved the world. You were the reason I wanted to be a hero in the first place," confessed the trembling Selene Opius.
A chuckle escaped the mouth of the half-dead corpse. His originally white hair had long since turned red, his organs and blood spilled everywhere. Ice and snowflakes surrounded him and were inside him. His skin, so charred that his originally handsome features were unrecognizable, was disfigured—he had lost his left eye. He was surrounded by the corpses of dead heroes and civilians he had personally sent to the afterlife.
"You wouldn't understand, my little brother… and my little sister…" Rail Opius, the monster in human skin, spoke. "Even after maxing out your levels and gear, you still have the mindset of noobs. Luckily, I'm not a loser who bullies noobs."
In just a few years, he had gone from a neighborhood thug to the world's only calamity-class villain
.
Many in the world had wondered why he had started what could only be described as an apocalypse.
With a gift like his, he could've had anything in this world. He could've been a king—no matter what crimes he committed, he'd ultimately be able to roam free with power like his.
So why? Why would he do all of this? All who met him and asked this question came to the same conclusion: he was insane
. Delusional. He wasn't living in reality the same way as they were.
Even before Rail had walked this disastrous path, he had been broken. In fact, people always said Rail was already broken long before he became a villain.
At age seven, he disabled a ten-year-old's left arm because the kid bullied him for being the shortest and youngest in his class—simply because he'd skipped a few years ahead. Rail's defense? "He played the game longer, and we were the same level. The mob shouldn't have provoked me. If he sucked at PvP…" These words landed him in therapy for five years.
At age eight, he started seventh grade—that may not make sense to you, but let's just say Rail is a super-genius in academics. He somehow always knew the answers to everything.
At age nine, he beat a girl his own age senseless and threatened to hang her with a fake suicide note just because she'd picked on him a little during lunch. That same year, he was arrested and sent to a juvenile correctional facility for killing four dogs
.
At age thirteen, he graduated—then took over a small gang. No one who wasn't there knows how, and no one knows why. The only confirmed fact was that he did
.
At age sixteen, he founded a large, deranged, cult-like group of followers—known simply as The Party Members.
It was at age nineteen that Rail was abducted and taught by the SSS-class villain, Telekinetic Witch—who had a telekinetic-growth-type gift and was Rail's first tutor. Rumors circulated in the underworld that Rail called her Sensei.
At age twenty-one, he became America's ninth S-class villain—and that same year, he killed S-class hero Beatrice.
At age twenty-three, he became a calamity-class, unchecked monster.
At age twenty-four, he rampaged across the world, indiscriminately killing heroes and civilians alike. Four nations fell to the chaos Rail created: North Korea, South Korea, China, and Venezuela. Civilians trembled at the sound of his name. Luckily, countries collaborated to nurture heroes and begin forming a unified strike force.
At age twenty-six, the villain fell—not because he felt wrong, but because he was disappointed and had grown bored with this world.
"Why is everyone always so dramatic? Death just means I get to start a new playthrough," said the monster before his remaining eye closed and he breathed his last.
