Chapter 1 - THE DAY SHE WAS REJECTED

The sky above Silvermoon Pack was painted in shades of gold and crimson, as if even nature knew something important was about to happen.

Aria stood at the center of the grand hall, her hands tightly clenched in front of her dress.

Today was supposed to be her bonding ceremony.

Today, she was supposed to meet her mate.

The bond ceremony was sacred. Every werewolf dreamed of it—the moment the Moon Goddess revealed your destined partner.

But as Aria looked around, something felt wrong.

Whispers filled the hall.

"Is she really his mate?"

"She doesn't look strong enough…"

"Maybe it's a mistake."

Aria swallowed hard.

Her heart was already racing before he even stepped forward.

Then he appeared.

Alpha Jason.

Tall, confident, and surrounded by his warriors like he owned the world.

Aria's breath caught in her throat.

He was her mate.

She could feel it—the invisible pull between them, like a thread tying her soul to his.

But his eyes…

They were cold.

No warmth. No recognition. No joy.

Just disappointment.

A silence fell over the hall as he walked closer.

Every step he took echoed in Aria's chest like a warning.

When he finally stopped in front of her, he didn't smile.

He didn't even hesitate.

"Mate," he said flatly.

The single word should have been beautiful.

Instead, it felt like a blade.

Aria's lips parted slightly. "Yes…"

But before she could say anything else, he raised his hand.

"I, Alpha Jason of the Silvermoon Pack…"

The hall went completely silent.

Aria's body froze.

"…reject you."

For a second, she didn't understand the words.

Reject.

The word echoed in her mind like a storm breaking apart her thoughts.

Gasps erupted around them.

Aria felt her knees weaken, but she forced herself to stand.

"This… this is a mistake," she whispered. "We're mates. You can't—"

"I can," Jason interrupted coldly.

His eyes flicked over her like she was something beneath him.

"And I just did."

A painful silence followed.

Then came the laughter.

Soft at first… then louder.

Whispers turned into mocking voices.

"She was really his mate?"

"No wonder he rejected her."

"She's weak… useless."

Aria's chest tightened.

Her wolf whimpered inside her, hurt and confused.

But what hurt most… was not the rejection.

It was the way he looked at her like she was nothing.

Like she didn't exist.

Aria stepped back slowly.

"I never asked to be your mate," she said quietly, though her voice trembled.

Jason's jaw tightened slightly, but he said nothing.

That silence hurt more than words.

Aria turned away.

She walked—slowly at first—then faster.

She didn't look back.

Not when the whispers followed her.

Not when the laughter grew louder.

Not even when her eyes filled with tears she refused to let fall.

Outside the hall, the wind hit her face like a slap.

She finally stopped running.

Her breath came in uneven gasps as she leaned against a stone wall.

Rejection.

It wasn't supposed to feel like this.

Her wolf stirred weakly inside her.

Why did he reject us?

Aria pressed a hand to her chest.

"I don't know," she whispered.

But deep down, something felt… off.

Because just before Jason spoke those words, she had felt something else.

A strange pressure in the air.

Like the world itself had shifted.

A low growl echoed in the distance.

Aria straightened immediately, wiping her tears quickly.

Footsteps approached.

Heavy. Controlled. Dangerous.

She turned slowly.

And that was when she saw him.

A man stood at the edge of the forest path.

Tall. Cloaked in dark armor. Eyes like cold silver fire.

Even from a distance, his presence made the air feel heavier.

Every instinct in Aria's body screamed one thing:

Power.

Not ordinary power.

Something ancient.

Something terrifying.

The guards behind him didn't speak.

They didn't even move.

They just stepped aside… like they feared him.

The man's gaze locked onto Aria.

And in that instant…

Everything inside her went silent.

Her wolf stopped moving.

Her breath caught.

And for the first time since her rejection—

Aria felt something she couldn't explain.

Not fear.

Not pain.

But recognition.

The man tilted his head slightly.

Like he was studying her.

Then, in a low voice that carried through the wind, he said:

"So… this is her."

Aria frowned. "Who are you?"

The man took one slow step forward.

The ground beneath him seemed to react—like it was aware of him.

"I was told," he said calmly, "that I would find something… interesting here."

His eyes darkened slightly as they scanned her.

"And I was right."

Aria's heart pounded.

Something about him felt dangerous… yet familiar.

Like a storm she had somehow survived before.

"I don't know you," she said firmly.

A faint, almost invisible smile touched his lips.

"You will."

A pause.

Then he added quietly:

"And soon… neither will they."

Aria felt a chill run down her spine.

"Who are you?" she asked again, more firmly this time.

The man stepped closer.

Close enough now that she could feel his presence pressing against her like gravity itself.

And finally, he said the words that changed everything:

"I am the Alpha King."
