Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : Two Souls

In the Second Star Galaxy, there existed a planet known as Aetherion. Within this planet lay a small nation called Velmora, a quiet land where most lived simple and humble lives. Among them was a couple who owned nothing but their love for one another, and on one fateful night, the wife was on the verge of giving birth. At that same moment, far away in the Eighth Star Galaxy, a war between gods erupted. Two beings clashed with power that shattered existence itself—Seraphel, the God of Heaven, and Noctyra, the God of the Abyss. Their battle tore apart stars, destroyed entire worlds, and ultimately annihilated the Eighth Star Galaxy. In the end, Noctyra fell. His divine body was shattered, his power nearly extinguished, and even a low-level Immortal could have ended his life. With the last remnants of his strength, he tore through space and fled, arriving at Aetherion. But the moment he entered the planet, his existence began to collapse. With no time left, he performed a final ritual—The Pass—an ancient method to transfer his power and will. Yet he had no disciple, no successor, no one. In desperation, he entrusted everything to fate. The ritual began, but it failed. His soul was too damaged, his power too weak, and instead of passing on his inheritance, his essence became sealed within a drifting spiritual vessel. At that exact moment, a newborn child entered the world, and the vessel, as if guided by instinct, descended silently and entered the infant. From that moment on, two souls began to intertwine.

Years passed, and the child was named Kael Vareth. He grew up in poverty, in a fragile home that held more warmth than wealth. His mother's gentle hands always healed his wounds, while his father's quiet strength shaped his understanding of the world. "You must endure, but never lose who you are," his mother would say, and his father once told him, "A man is not measured by how hard he hits, but by how much he can endure without breaking." Those words became the foundation of his life. However, the world outside was far from kind. Kael was mocked, beaten, and ignored by others, yet he never fought back—not because he was weak, but because he refused to become like those who hurt him. Sometimes, he dreamed of something dark, something watching him, a presence he could not understand, but every morning, the memory faded. As he grew older, a strange feeling lingered within him, a quiet disturbance he could not explain, but he chose to ignore it. Life was already difficult enough.

Kael spent years searching for work, only to be rejected again and again. Shame grew within him, not for himself, but for his family, as debt slowly consumed their home and creditors came with threats that echoed in silence. He could do nothing but stand there, powerless. Then, one day, an Immortal arrived—a distant relative from his father's lineage—recruiting candidates for the Velmora Royal Immortal Program, a path of power but also danger, with no guarantee of survival. Without hesitation, Kael stepped forward and said, "I want to go." His mother trembled at the thought of losing him, and his father remained silent, but Kael stood firm. "If I stay, nothing will change," he said quietly. In the end, they agreed, not because they were ready, but because they believed in him.

Days later, three were chosen from their district—Kael Vareth, Darian Sol, and Mirel Thorne—and they were brought to the Velmora Royal Qualification Trials. Hundreds had gathered, each carrying hope and desperation. Then, the Grand Captain Aldric Veyron descended from the sky and began the trials. The first test measured endurance and mana channeling. Darian and Mirel passed, but when Kael stepped forward, nothing happened. He was about to be declared unqualified when suddenly a surge of dense, unnatural mana burst from his body before disappearing just as quickly. Far away in the royal palace, the heir of Velmora, Eryndor Valen, opened his eyes, sensing something unfamiliar for the first time in over a thousand years. Kael was allowed to pass. In the second trial, where candidates had to release their mana, Kael again showed nothing detectable, but in truth, his mana could not be sensed. Just as he was about to be dismissed, Eryndor intervened from afar, forcing his mana into visible form and allowing him to pass. The third trial required one year of endurance without food or water, and as time passed, most candidates fell until only six remained, including Kael.

They were welcomed and celebrated, given food and rest, and for the first time, Kael felt hope. The following day, they were assigned to squads within Velmora. There were seven squads in total, from Squad 1, the weakest, to Squad 7, the strongest, but only Squad 5 and above received true teachings, while the rest were merely placeholders. When Kael placed his hand upon the Origin Stone, it emitted only a faint glow. "Squad 2," the result was announced. It was a low and insignificant rank, yet the stone trembled ever so slightly, as if it had sensed something beyond its understanding.

A year passed within Squad 2. To Kael's surprise, his teammates treated him kindly, and for the first time in his life, he experienced a sense of belonging. During this time, his body changed, growing stronger and more refined, though he never trained in any special way. Within the Immortal domain, natural mana existed everywhere, yet no one could absorb it—except Kael. Without realizing it, his body continuously absorbed this energy, evolving silently. One night, however, everything changed. Kael woke up gasping for air, his entire body burning with unbearable heat. Panicked, he ran until he found a river he had never seen before. Without hesitation, he jumped in, and for a moment, he felt relief. Then, the water began to boil. Unbeknownst to him, the river was a High Spiritual Vein, a source of immense energy capable of restoring broken souls. As the energy flowed into him, something deep within his soul began to awaken. A shattered existence slowly reformed, and a dark, overwhelming presence emerged before him. A figure, incomplete yet undeniable, stood within his consciousness. It was Noctyra. "So… you are the vessel," the voice echoed within him. Kael froze, and for the first time in his life, he understood—he was never alone.
