Chapter 1 - Professor Samuel Oak

"Hello there! Glad to meet you! Welcome to the world of Pokémon."

"My name is Oak. People call me the Pokémon Professor."

"In this world, creatures called Pokémon live all around us."

"People and Pokémon play together, battle together, help one another… and live side by side."

"However, there are still many things about Pokémon that I don't know. Their secrets are far from fully understood."

"That's why I conduct research every single day!"

"..."

Rei Akagi pressed the Enter key, confirming that the final segment of the game assets had been successfully imported.

This was a personal project he had been tinkering with during downtime at work—an indie game that was nearly finished.

In the video playing on the screen, the energetic old man delivering the opening speech was none other than the famous Professor Samuel Oak.

A leading authority on Pokémon research, the inventor of the Pokédex, the guide for countless Trainers—and… Rei Akagi's current boss.

He stood up and walked to the window, pulling open the curtains of his room at the research institute.

Soft moonlight poured in silently, gently falling across his sharply defined, handsome face.

Outside lay the brightly lit streets of Eterna City.

Gazing at the hazy glow of the city lights, he stretched his body and let out a satisfied yawn.

This was the world of Pokémon…

More precisely, a fusion world that was both familiar and strange to him.

As a lone transmigrator, he had once traveled to an ancient Pokémon world. But when he finally returned, he discovered something shocking—

His original world had been "stolen."

The worlds had merged.

The good news: it was patched together.

The even better news: everything had been patched together.

Every Pokémon region he knew existed on the world map—Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and more.

Not only that, but compared to the real world he remembered, almost every aspect of this world was now connected to Pokémon in one way or another.

He had lived here for three years already.

The city he was currently in—Eterna City—was a first-tier metropolis under the jurisdiction of the Sinnoh League , complete with an official Pokémon Gym.

As for why he didn't continue being a Trainer?

Come on—since the moment he transmigrated until now, he was already twenty-one years old.

The golden age of retirement and lazy living!

Wasn't slacking off as a researcher great?

Wasn't it even better to spend that slack time making games he personally enjoyed?

Hadn't he already been through enough in life?

Pulling his wandering thoughts back, Rei Akagi sighed and lowered his gaze to the bracelet on his wrist.

The bracelet had a white base with golden patterns. Its shape resembled the elegant ring around Arceus's waist—

The Azure Flute.

Simple, understated, and extremely beautiful.

This was the reward he had received for saving that ancient world…

But aside from looking good, it had been basically useless for the past three years—like nothing more than a decorative accessory.

Just as he sighed again—

A familiar, gentle power suddenly surged quietly from within his body.

Pure white light radiated a sacred glow, faintly flickering around him as if it had pierced through the barriers of time and space.

"This is… the Power of Aura?!"

Rei Akagi's pupils shrank as he instantly recognized the contract ability that had mysteriously disappeared after his return.

At nearly the same moment, the bracelet seemed to respond.

A strange light composed of eighteen colors flashed briefly.

Buzz—

The bracelet trembled softly.

Immediately afterward, a holographic interface projected directly onto his retina without warning.

"Azure Flute System v1.0 Activated"

Contract Holder: Rei Akagi

Confirmed Function Modules:

AppraisalShopStorage SpaceSmart AssistantOath of Reunion

Assistant A Reminder:

"This assistant exists to help the contract holder develop comprehensively, oppose the cross-dimensional villain organization—Team Rainbow Rocket—and save the world."

"Click to expand for detailed instructions."

Hold on. I'm working here.

Seriously? You absorbed my Aura power for three years just to activate now? That's pretty useless, isn't it?

And fighting Team Rainbow Rocket to save the world—wasn't that my job in the previous world?

Your timing is a little too "perfect," don't you think?

So the system only shows up after the game is finished?

Assistant A Reminder:

"System busy. Please try again later."

...Nice.

So you're not even pretending anymore, huh?

Complaining aside, Rei Akagi quickly used the Appraisal function on himself.

Contract Holder: Rei Akagi

"So I'm the superhuman here?"

Rei Akagi leaned back slightly in disbelief as he looked at the panel.

"Expand the instructions."

"Instructions expanded."

"The Azure Flute System will generate customized missions based on the contract holder's current situation. Completing them grants corresponding rewards to support the holder's development."

"Additionally, when sentient individuals receive positive Pokémon-related feedback through the contract holder (such as knowledge inspiration, emotional value, practical benefits, etc.), the contract holder will receive a proportion of Battle Points. Repeated identical feedback will grant significantly reduced BP."

Battle Points Usage:

Can be exchanged in the Shop module for various items, services, and special permissions.

Note:

"This mechanism encourages the contract holder to actively spread Pokémon knowledge and promote harmonious coexistence between humans and Pokémon."

"I get it—mission system plus feedback system… perfectly tailored to the storyline of my previous world. The problem is, I already retired and came back home!"

Then Rei Akagi suddenly realized something important.

"Let me confirm—if the positive feedback happens indirectly because of me, I still get Battle Points, right?"

Assistant A Reminder:

"You will still obtain Battle Points. The difference lies in the proportion. The higher the correlation between the individual's positive feedback and you, the greater the Battle Points you receive."

"In that case… this might actually work."

Rei Akagi perked up and continued browsing, his gaze eventually locking onto the final function.

"Assistant A, what exactly is this 'Oath of Reunion'?"

Assistant A Reminder:

"By consuming a large number of Battle Points, you may summon Pokémon from other worlds with whom you once formed deep bonds, bringing them to the current world."

"This allows unfinished companionship to continue, new adventures to be fought side by side, and regrets of parting to be resolved."

Note:

"The BP cost is directly related to the target Pokémon's power level and the difficulty of adapting them to the world's rules. Divine-authority Pokémon are unique within each world and will face certain restrictions after crossing over."

"Restrictions don't matter at all!"

A glint flashed in Rei Akagi's eyes as he asked hesitantly:

"You mean… Rayquaza and the others can come here?"

The greatest regret of his life had been parting with his former partners.

If possible, bringing those old companions here and lazing around together didn't sound bad at all.

He held his breath.

"How many Battle Points would it take to summon Rayquaza?"

Assistant A Reminder:

"100,000 Battle Points."

One, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand…

One hundred thousand?!

Does that mean…

Do I actually have to become a Pokémon Trainer again?

In an instant, Rei Akagi recalled the bloody chaos he experienced during his transmigration—and the world-level crises that might erupt in this world in the future.

He shuddered, his face turning slightly pale.

Whoever wants to be a Trainer can do it. I'm definitely not!

There's no way I'm becoming a Trainer in this life!

The moment that thought crossed his mind, his eyes involuntarily drifted toward the computer screen.

Displayed there was the half-finished game he had casually assembled using existing game assets on a whim.

The crude program's file name was the temporary title he had typed out at random:

"Pokémon: FireRed / LeafGreen."
