Cherreads

Chapter 2 - One Last Try?-2

"What the actual heck?" The words came out of his mouth in shock, as he saw the broken monitor lit up.

A crystalline and familiar status panel blinked into existence on the broken screen.

Alex, exhaled loudly. Then, cautiously he moved towards the screen. Avoiding the sharp shards on the floor, he closed in on the monitor.

Crouching down, he read the text on the cracked screen. His eyes widened as he read it.

[Would you like to try one last time, to reach the perfect ending?]

[Yes/No]

"Am I hallucinating?" He spoke out loud, as he pinched himself lightly. The pain came immediately confirming it was all real.

He looked at the screen, confused yet contemplating something.

"Do I want to reach the perfect ending? Sure, I would love to, however this whole thing is a bit creepy. So, let's just get away from it." He moved back from the screen, wanting to turn off the whole system.

However, something on the screen shifted.

[Yes. Choice Confirmed.]

"Huh? W-what wait—Agh!" Alex breath hitched, in an instant his vision blurred as he felt his chest tightening uncontrollably.

Only a choked groan came out of his mouth as the pain hit him, like a furious wave. He fell on the floor, the shards of glass and plastic digging into his skin each sending sharp pain.

'Fuck, w-what is happening?'

His phone fell on the ground, he tried to grab it once again to call the ambulance however the pain in his chest flared even more.

He writhed in pain, as blood came out of his eyes and mouth. His vision darkened and felt his consciousness flowing like sand.

He felt it, Death was close.

'Damn it, am I going to die?'

This was the last thought before he took his dying breath…

Alex was dead.

[Transmigration Successful.]

Sunlight flickered through the window lazily, as it hit the eyes of a young boy who lay on his bed.

His black hair shimmered like darkness and velvet as the sunlight caressed them gently. Each strand was smooth as silk and pure obsidian as they fell on the boy's forehead.

His was a perfect example of excellent and exquisite craftsmanship, as half of his face was illuminated by the serene waves of sun.

Moments later, the boy's eyes twitched. Then, they fluttered open lightly as azure pupils saw the world in front of it in a hazy blur.

He blinked a couple of times. The world cleared, as the wooden ceiling of the room came into view.

This young man was Alex…

With a strong jerk, Alex pulled himself up from the bed. His head moved throughout the room confused and shocked as he saw the unfamiliar surroundings.

The room in which he was in was illuminated by small candles and the light radiating from the stones which were etched on the ceiling.

It was a modest room, neither too big nor too small. A small table was beside his bed, where water was kept, while a longsword leaned on its wooden edge.

A window was in the middle of the room, lighting up the room from the morning rays coming through it.

"What the hell? Where am I?" Words came out of Alex's mouth in shock. He couldn't believe what was happening.

However, just then, as if recalling something. He hurriedly touched his chest and neck. It felt…normal. There was no pain in his chest, just a haunting trauma of phantom pain.

Though, just then Alex noticed something. His hands no…his whole body. It felt different. He couldn't explain it however it all felt different.

And now wide awake, he also noticed how different his voice sounded before.

Slowly, he looked at his body.

His hands were pale white, as rough callous told the story of hardwork and dedication. The old scar that always remained on his arm was also gone.

A realization struck him.

"Common dude, ain't no way this is happening." He muttered, his voice trembling. Pushing his body away from the bed, he moved towards the bathroom quickly.

There, he saw a mirror and moved towards it.

"I will be damned." Words came out of his mouth unrealised as he saw a whole different person in the mirror.

"Damn it, it's a fucking transmigration. Is this because of that system window? Ugh, I should've kept my mouth shut." He spoke.

To be honest, for him the problem wasn't the transmigration. After all, like many he had also thought about reincarnating in another world.

Gain different mystical and transcendent powers. Adventuring throughout the world, exploring beautiful and enigmatic places, meeting different people of different different races and all.

Now that he had been transmigrated it should have been like a dream come true. However, it wasn't. Rather, he was horrified.

This shitty world was hell. Here, there was no concept of laws and mercy. Only power reigns supreme here.

Just as his mind was in chaos. A familiar sound dinged into his head.

Before Alex could even understand what was happening, a warm feeling rose in his chest. In seconds, the warmth rose, turning into unbearable heat.

"Agh." Alex groaned as he clutched his chest tightly, so much that his nails dig into the flesh. The heat was searing, it felt as if someone had poured lava into his chest.

He fell down on the floor, writhing with pain. Clenching his teeth he tried to bear with it however it rose even more.

"Ackkk." He screamed not being able to hold it in any longer.

The pain continued, each second felt like hours as he suffered in continuous pain. Then after a few minutes, something changed…

The heat in his chest began to settle down. Relief filled through his whole being, as the pain continued to dwindle. However, just as he felt that it was finally over.

"S-shit what now?" He wheezed.

The pain returned, this time not in his chest but his head. Severe pain buzzed in his head, as he felt like someone was hammering nails into his brain.

The pain was so immense, that clutching his head tightly. He bashed it into the floor…obviously that didn't do anything, just added more to his agony.

As the pain continued, unknown memories began to fill in his head. Memories of people who were familiar yet unfamiliar. Some were warm while the others were cruel.

Alex though, not being able to bear it anymore finally lost his consciousness.

*****

Alex's eyes opened.

The same ceiling which he had seen before came into his view once again, as instead of the cold hard floor. He found himself laying on his bed.

'Ah, yes. I lost consciousness from the pain and memory transfer.' He thought as he closed his eyes for a moment and took some deep breaths.

Memories flashed in his mind, not of his own but of someone different. The one whose body he had taken.

Raymond Sylvaris.

That was the name of the boy he had taken over. Or rather got after the original Raymond committed suicide.

Truth be told, Alex didn't judge him. The guy had just gone through too much for someone his age.

In the beginning, he had a good childhood. He was a noble's son. His family was extremely caring. He had a nice father, not the typical cold noble type…but someone who cared about his children.

He also had a big brother, who loved and cared about him. Not to forget, he also had a sister, who used to play with him.

However, sometimes fate has a cruel habit of destroying beautiful things. When he turned ten disaster fell.

His whole family died and he was barely able to live because of his father. However, now away from the caring warmth and shelter of his parents.

Life was extremely harsh and cold.

At the age of ten, he had no idea how to survive. Yet, the boy held on and did everything he could to survive from begging to stealing.

All in hopes of taking his revenge when he awakened. However it was wishful thinking.

Hope is the deadliest poison for the weak.

On his awakening day, Raymond awakened the ability to manipulate ice. It could have been an extremely powerful ability however the boy's potential was pitiful.

Even after practicing and training, his ability for three cruel years. The most he could do was create some blocks of ice.

It was useless.

The only good thing that one could say happened to Raymond after his house fell. It was him meeting…Alariv.

He was the man who saved Raymond when was about to by the hands of the monster and took him under his wing.

He was a kind man, who took Raymond in his guild even though he was weak and frail. However even here at the guild his life wasn't smooth.

Weak always suffers after all.

Facing the daily bullying and beating from some of the guild members not to mention him being a fallen noble. He was utterly tortured.

Thus, not being able to bear anymore, The guy committed suicide and died, after that Alex took over his body.

"What a pitiful guy." He said.

Click.

Just then, the gate of his room opened.
