Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

After Wang Zijin left, Yang Wu found an empty private room and sat down.

As the head of security at the bar—and an advanced martial arts student—no one would disturb him.

Sitting alone, Yang Wu quietly pondered.

Having lived two lives, he clearly understood Wang Zijin's intentions.

Yet he felt no resentment.

Wang Zijin was, in truth, a good man.

Three years ago, when Yang Wu had first transmigrated into this world, he woke up in a hospital.

At the time, while working security at the bar, he had clashed with thugs from another establishment and been severely injured. The scar on his face was a remnant of that incident.

Wang Zijin had personally visited him several times, covered all his medical and recovery expenses, and even compensated everyone involved—giving Yang Wu the largest share.

Because of this, after recovering, Yang Wu chose to stay rather than leave.

Joining the Wang family would undoubtedly bring better benefits—but also far greater restrictions than his current, relatively free arrangement.

More importantly, it would inevitably drag him into conflicts—something that clashed with his desire for a stable, low-risk life.

In the end, it all came down to one thing:

His lack of talent.

If he had the strength of a War God, none of these concerns would matter.

After thinking it over for a long time, Yang Wu still couldn't reach a decision.

He could only take things one step at a time.

After all, Luo Feng's rise had only just begun. If he truly encountered a problem he couldn't solve… then he would simply have to shamelessly ask Luo Feng for help.

---

At nine in the evening, Yang Wu finally left the bar and headed home.

Three years ago, his family had lived in low-rent housing. But with the compensation and rewards he received from Wang Zijin—along with his own savings—they had managed to move into a mid-range residential complex.

Lanta Residential Complex.

Compared to the old housing blocks, it had lower density, greenery, and even small gardens.

Taking the elevator, Yang Wu soon arrived at his apartment on the 26th floor.

Click.

He unlocked the door and stepped inside.

"Brother!"

A boy doing homework in the living room looked up and called out happily.

It was Yang Wu's younger brother, Yang Fan, currently in his final year of junior high school. Yang Wu also had an older sister, Yang Yun, who was already married.

Hearing the call, a middle-aged couple emerged from their room.

"Ah Wu, you're back! Have you eaten? There's still food in the kitchen—I'll heat it up for you," his mother said warmly.

"Dad, Mom—I haven't eaten yet. I'm starving," Yang Wu replied with a smile, looking at his parents, Yang Yuande and Liu Yuhua.

"Sit down and wait. I'll warm it up right away," Liu Yuhua said as she hurried to the kitchen.

Their current comfortable life was entirely due to their eldest son. While she couldn't help him in cultivation, she could at least make sure he never came home to a cold meal.

Yang Wu smiled softly.

After three years, he had completely integrated into this family.

Their care and warmth felt… real.

For a moment, he thought of his parents from his previous life.

He wondered how they were doing.

Fortunately, he had an older brother back then—so they wouldn't be left alone in old age.

---

"A Wu, didn't you go see Xiaofeng take the college entrance exam today? How did it go?" Yang Yuande asked.

Yang Fan also perked up, listening closely.

Aside from his second brother, the person Yang Fan admired most was Luo Feng.

Coming from an ordinary family, yet becoming an advanced martial arts student during high school—something even Yang Wu hadn't achieved at that age.

Luo Feng was his goal.

If Yang Wu knew that, he'd probably find it both amusing and a bit absurd.

"Afeng ran into some trouble," Yang Wu said calmly. "He fainted during the math exam."

"What?!" Yang Fan exclaimed. "Second Brother, is Brother Feng okay?"

"He's fine. By the time I left the hospital, he had already woken up and was preparing for discharge."

"That's good…" Yang Fan sighed in relief, then hesitated. "But if he fainted during the exam… he probably didn't finish it. What about his results?"

"You're worrying about others now?" Yang Yuande laughed, lightly tapping Yang Fan on the head. "Even if he missed one exam, his grades would still be better than yours! Look at you—always training, never focusing on your studies. At this rate, you won't even make it into a vocational college!"

"Second Brother didn't go to university either, and he's doing just fine!" Yang Fan shot back. "I don't want to go to college. I want to become a martial artist!"

"Oh? You don't want to study?" Yang Yuande immediately raised his hand and gave him a few light smacks. "Go finish your homework! If it's not done today, I'll deal with you properly!"

Grumbling, Yang Fan retreated to the side—but his ears remained sharply tuned to the conversation.

After chasing him off, Yang Yuande turned back to Yang Wu.

"Wu… Xiao Feng's situation should be alright, right? Didn't he want to apply to a military academy? I wonder if this will affect him."

Military academy? College? Yang Wu thought inwardly.

In four years, Luo Feng will obtain the Golden Horned Beast. What's a college degree compared to that?

Of course, he couldn't say that aloud.

"Don't worry, Dad. It shouldn't be a problem. And even if it is, Luo Feng is still young—he can always repeat a year."

---

"Yuande, the food's ready! Come help bring it out!" Liu Yuhua called from the kitchen.

Yang Yuande immediately got up, and Yang Wu followed.

In the dining room, a table full of dishes awaited them.

Though his family had already eaten, more than half of each dish remained. There was also plenty of rice left.

They always left extra for Yang Wu.

Cultivation consumed a great deal of energy, and he needed to eat more.

Yang Fan, being young, also ate quite a bit—but his parents deliberately ate less, even going slightly hungry at times.

If Yang Wu didn't come home to eat, the leftovers would simply become breakfast the next day.

Even now, with improved living conditions, they still refused to waste food.

After setting everything on the table, and once his parents declined to eat any more, Yang Wu began his meal.

Yang Fan quietly did his homework nearby.

Yang Yuande and Liu Yuhua exchanged a glance, their faces filled with quiet satisfaction.

Moments like this—

Simple, ordinary, and warm—

were more than enough.
