Chapter 1: The Completely Normal Morning (That Was Not Normal Later)
Sunrise School looked normal that morning. The gates creaked open like they always did, pigeons fought over invisible crumbs like always, and students dragged their feet like it was part of the school uniform.
Ravi walked in with his best friend Aman.
Aman said, "Today feels weirdly peaceful."
Ravi replied, "Don't say that. That's how movies start before something explodes."
They both laughed and went to class.
Inside, the teacher was already writing on the board. The chalk squeaked dramatically, as if it had emotions. "Today," the teacher said, "we will study discipline and quiet behavior."
Someone in the back sneezed. The ceiling fan stopped for half a second… then started spinning in the opposite direction, but nobody noticed.
The school bell rang for morning assembly, but it rang twice, like it couldn't decide which version of reality to choose.
Still, everything continued normally.
Ravi sat in class thinking about lunch.
Aman whispered, "I heard today's lunch is special."
Ravi frowned. "Special how?"
Aman shrugged. "Canteen uncle said it's a surprise."
At that exact moment, the lights flickered once… very softly… like the building itself was smiling.
Nobody noticed.
But something in the school had already gone slightly wrong.Lunch time arrived, and the school canteen announced proudly, "Today's special meal is SYSTEM MIX MENU!"
Nobody understood what that meant.
Five minutes later, chaos arrived in trays.
Ravi opened his lunchbox and stared at it.
Inside was a strange combination: spicy noodles, chocolate ice cream, pickles, and one boiled potato wearing salt like armor.
Aman opened his box and screamed. "WHY DO I HAVE ONLY GREEN GRAPES AND A FISH SANDWICH?!"
Across the classroom, students were reacting like a comedy show:
One student got 17 bananas and no mouth
One got soup in a bottle labeled "DO NOT SHAKE REALITY"
Another got air… just air… in a fancy container
Ravi cautiously took a bite of noodles.
Immediately, the ice cream melted violently.
"WHY IS IT SPICY AND COLD AT THE SAME TIME?!" he shouted.
The pickles replied.
Yes… they replied.
"Because you deserved it," said the pickle jar in a deep voice.
Ravi dropped the spoon.
Across the room, the principal entered and opened his lunchbox proudly.
It was empty.
He blinked.
"This is… spiritually healthy," he said, pretending nothing was wrong.
From the canteen loudspeaker came a panicked voice:
"I PRESSED THE WRONG BUTTON ON THE FOOD MACHINE!"
And that's when everyone realized—
Lunch was not just wrong.
Lunch was broken reality. After the first bite, something strange happened to the students.
The food was alive.
Ravi's noodles whispered, "Don't trust the ice cream. It lies."
The ice cream immediately replied, "He is jealous because I am cold and famous."
Aman's fish sandwich blinked at him.
"Stop looking at me like that," it said. "I have feelings."
Aman dropped his lunchbox.
"WHY IS MY FOOD ALIVE?!"
Even the water bottle spoke softly:
"I contain secrets of the universe… and electrolytes."
The classroom turned into chaos. Students were arguing with their meals.
One boy shouted at his banana, "STOP JUDGING MY LIFE!"
The banana replied, "Then improve it."
Ravi slowly stood up. "We need to report this."
But the teacher was already eating calmly.
When asked, she said, "My food is not talking. It is just giving motivational speeches."
Her sandwich suddenly said, "You are doing great, ma'am."
She smiled. "See?"
Ravi realized something terrifying:
Not only was the food alive… but everyone was reacting differently to it.
Aman whispered, "I think the food is reading our thoughts."
At that exact moment, Ravi's noodles said, "No we are not."
Ravi froze.
"Okay," he said slowly, "that makes it worse."The principal, Mr. Dutta, decided to "handle the situation professionally."
He walked into the playground with authority.
"I will restore order," he announced.
Then he accidentally ate someone's experimental banana batch.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then his eyes widened.
"I feel… unstoppable."
Within minutes, he was running around the field, assembling what he called the Banana Safety Squad.
He gave bananas to students like weapons.
"These are protective fruits," he declared seriously.
Teachers tried to stop him, but he was too fast. Extremely fast. Like a man powered entirely by potassium and bad decisions.
Aman whispered, "He's gone full banana mode."
Ravi nodded. "This is officially the worst school day in history."
The principal started assigning ranks:
Banana Captain
Peel Commander
Fruit Lieutenant
Even the school gardener joined the army accidentally.
The bananas, strangely, seemed to approve.
One even said, "Finally, meaningful leadership."
Ravi backed away slowly. "I never thought I'd be afraid of fruit."
Aman replied, "I miss normal homework."
At that moment, the school bell rang again.
But this time… it rang backwards.
