Chapter 2 - The Drunk Blacksmith and the Miserable Youth

After persuading the village chief, Mo Bai immediately found paper and pen and began to draw blueprints for the hunting crossbow.

Fortunately, the village chief is the most educated person in the village. Whenever someone in the village has an event, they ask the village chief to write a gift list. So the village chief always keeps paper and pen at home, otherwise he would have to go out to find paper and pen to draw the production diagram.

The village chief was also very shocked to see that Mo Bai started drawing with his bare hands without using any other tools.

As the village head, Old Man Li often went to Nottingham City. He had seen that the best blacksmiths in the city not only had to use various tools to make blueprints before forging an unfamiliar piece of iron, but also had to compare and even modify it many times during the forging process before it could be successfully forged.

But now, the village chief saw that Mo Bai, such a young child, could casually draw all the parts he needed on paper without even doing any calculations.

Mo Bai's actions even made the village chief feel that he could also be a good blacksmith, but the village chief knew that this was just an illusion.

The village chief couldn't resist his curiosity and asked Mo Bai, "Xiao Bai, did you learn drawing or something from someone before?"

Mo Bai noticed the village chief's curiosity and shock, and explained, "Grandpa Village Chief, I have never learned this from anyone, I just vaguely remember that it is drawn like this."

After a pause, Mo Bai continued to explain, "I should have been born with a photographic memory, but I damaged my brain in the fall before, which is why I forgot a lot of things."

After hearing Mo Bai's explanation, the village chief couldn't help but feel regret and pity.

Before long, Mo Bai finished drawing the blueprints for the beast-hunting crossbow. "Grandpa Village Chief, let's go find the blacksmith tomorrow," Mo Bai said immediately, looking as if he was afraid the village chief would change his mind.

"Alright, Grandpa will go to Holy Soul Village tomorrow." The village chief was somewhat helpless.

The next morning, the village chief and Mo Bai arrived at Holy Soul Village from Hundred Pigeon Village.

"The smell of alcohol is so strong, Grandpa Village Chief, have we come to the wrong place?" As he spoke, Mo Bai waved his hand somewhat awkwardly in front of his nose. If he hadn't seen the blacksmith's tools in the yard, he would have thought the village chief was lying to him.

The village chief smiled awkwardly upon hearing this. This man named Tang Hao was indeed a blacksmith, but also a drunkard who was drunk all day long. Despite being an adult, he had to be taken care of by his young son.

Originally, the village chief did not plan to bring Mo Bai along, but Mo Bai said that he had to watch the blacksmith make the crossbow to ensure its quality, otherwise he would not feel at ease, so he came along.

Just as the village chief was about to say something to Mo Bai, a little boy who was about the same age as Mo Bai walked over from a distance. The little boy clearly saw Mo Bai and the other person standing outside his yard, but he didn't pay any attention to them. He went straight back to his yard, opened the door, skillfully stepped onto a wooden stool, lifted the pot lid, and saw that the rice in the pot was cooked. He then picked up a bowl and began to scoop out rice porridge... no, it should be rice water.

"Is this the blacksmith?" Mo Bai asked the village chief instinctively.

"Of course not, this is the blacksmith's son," the village chief corrected.

Indeed, the person busy in the room was Tang San, the son of the blacksmith Tang Hao.

At this moment, Tang San had already ladled out the rice soup and called out to the inner room. Immediately, a middle-aged man who looked somewhat malnourished came out of the inner room. He seemed to still be under the influence of alcohol, as his steps were somewhat unsteady.

It was probably due to malnutrition that the man's aura was more aged than that of his peers.

"This is the real blacksmith," the village chief said helplessly.

Upon hearing this, Mo Bai's eyelids twitched.

"Grandpa, you're not lying to me, are you? This obviously malnourished drunkard is a blacksmith?" Mo Bai whispered to Village Chief Li. Suddenly, Mo Bai's eyes flashed; this drunkard was interesting.

"He is indeed a blacksmith, but he also has a great capacity for drinking. I came here today to see if he can forge it for you. If not, I'll wait until I go to town next time and have a blacksmith there for it," the village chief said.

"This Tang Hao, all he does is drink. He's not a young man anymore, yet he needs children to take care of him," the village chief said indignantly.

Although a herd of alpacas seemed to run through Mo Bai's mind, he still waited with the village chief outside the courtyard for Tang Hao and his son to finish breakfast.

A short while later, Tang Hao finished eating and went straight to the inner room. Tang San also started clearing away the dishes. Seeing that they had finished breakfast, Village Chief Li strode into the yard and shouted, "Tang Hao, stop spending all your time drinking. If you don't think about yourself, you should at least think about Xiao San."

Upon hearing this, Tang Hao stopped his planned walk back to drink and turned around to ask, "What is it?"

Seeing that Tang Hao didn't go back to drink, Village Chief Li's expression softened considerably. "Take a look and see if this thing can be used."

As he spoke, the village chief took out the drawings drawn by Mo Bai and handed them to Tang Hao. Tang Hao took the drawings, glanced at them, and a glint of light flashed in his eyes before disappearing in an instant.

The change was so rapid that Mo Bai hadn't fully noticed it yet, only vaguely sensing that Tang Hao's aura had been somewhat different just a moment ago.

At this moment, the village chief put the half-bag of grain he had brought into the house and said to Tang San with some concern, "Little San is at the age where he is growing, so he can't go hungry. If you don't have enough food at home in the future, come to me and Old Jack." Tang San hurriedly stepped forward to thank him and said, "Thank you, Grandpa Li," and took out a clean bowl to pour a bowl of water for Grandpa Li.

After looking at the drawing, Tang Hao glanced at Mo Bai casually and thought to himself, "This kid seems to have an extraordinary physique. This kind of drawing is not something that people without even soul power could produce. Could it be that this kid produced it?... It shouldn't be, no, it's definitely not."

When Mo Bai was complaining about Tang Hao, he clearly sensed that the blacksmith named Tang Hao was secretly watching him. Although he quickly used a secret technique to conceal his aura, Mo Bai was certain that Tang Hao had definitely noticed his abnormality.

At this moment, Tang Hao was secretly observing him, so Mo Bai naturally pretended to be an ordinary child, showing fear in the face of the particularly fierce-looking adult, while also not hiding his disdain for the drunkard.

Although he was puzzled, Tang Hao didn't pay much attention to it since he hadn't observed anything. After all, there were very few people on this continent who could threaten him, so why would he pay too much attention to a child whose physique was different from others?

"This one's good," Tang Hao said, putting down the blueprints and walking towards the forging furnace. He picked up an iron ingot and threw it into the furnace to heat it up.

As a disciple of the Tang Clan, Tang San also came over when he saw his father preparing to forge something.

In the past, some people asked my father to forge tools, but they were either farm implements or commonly used tools, and blueprints were not needed at all.

Today was the first time he had ever seen someone bring blueprints. Tang San initially thought they were new farming tools invented by the villagers, and took a look out of curiosity. But just one glance was enough to shock him.

The drawings didn't depict farm tools, but rather a series of intricate components. Not only were the dimensions extremely precise, but many components also had their performance specifications clearly marked. Perhaps the draftsman was worried that the blacksmith wouldn't understand, so he provided a detailed explanation for each performance indicator.

In Tang San's eyes, the tool used to draw the blueprints should be a crossbow, and Tang San even had a vague feeling that the power of this crossbow was stronger than the Zhuge Repeating Crossbow of the Tang Sect.

Just kidding, the hunting crossbow is definitely more powerful than the Zhuge repeating crossbow.

The Zhuge Repeating Crossbow has been continuously improved by generations of Tang Clan members, and its production process even requires the use of unique Tang Clan techniques. It is indeed powerful, but no matter how powerful it is, it is still a hidden weapon, and it is a purely empirical creation, so its power is ultimately limited.

The term "beast hunting crossbow" is just a common name used on Earth; its proper name is the compound heavy-hitting crossbow.

Unlike the Zhuge Repeating Crossbow, which was created based on empiricism, the hunting crossbow's technology and structure were built upon modern scientific theories of Earth.

Tang San glanced at Village Chief Li and Mo Bai, seeing that their expressions hadn't changed, and then stared intently at the blueprints.

As a disciple of the Tang Clan, Tang San believed that such blueprints were definitely top secret, even though he knew that if he really mastered the production method, he might face endless pursuit in the future.

However, Tang San, who was obsessed with the Tang Clan and hidden weapons, could not ignore the blueprints for the Beast Hunting Crossbow.

Half a day later, Tang San sighed inwardly and looked away from the blueprints with great reluctance.

The drawings are very comprehensive, but there are a few key components that are missing.

Without those key components, even Tang San would have a hard time replicating it.

Tang San didn't ask Village Chief Li or Mo Bai. He didn't believe that the blueprints were made by Mo Bai and Mo Bai. Even if they were, given the value of the crossbow, they wouldn't tell him about the key components.

Although it cannot be replicated, Tang San, as a master of hidden weapons, can confirm that although this crossbow has a simpler structure than the Zhuge Repeating Crossbow, its power is stronger.

Moreover, even though it was impossible to replicate this crossbow, its structure still greatly inspired Tang San.

Noticing Tang San's expression in secret, Mo Bai breathed a sigh of relief. Although the beast-hunting crossbow was just something that people in the mortal world of Blue Star made for hunting when they had nothing better to do, Mo Bai did not know what this thing meant to this world. On a whim, he left behind the blueprints for the key components and instructed the village chief not to say that he had drawn them.

Although Mo Bai's current methods cannot compare to the modern assembly lines on Blue Star, it does not affect normal use. In fact, Mo Bai could also forge the parts himself, but without suitable tools, forging all the parts would be too time-consuming. Right now, he still needs to focus on his cultivation.

At this moment, the iron ingot had been heated to the appropriate temperature, and Tang Hao had already picked up the hammer to prepare for forging, attracting the attention of everyone.

Mo Bai thought to himself, "I hope this drunkard doesn't smash himself to death with the hammer."

  ...

"Interesting, this father and son are really interesting."

At this point, the forging process was nearing its end.

Although he didn't pay attention to Tang San at first, Mo Bai secretly kept an eye on him after noticing Tang Hao's unusual behavior. He discovered that Tang San's breathing was long, deep, and his aura was strong.

That alone wouldn't have been enough to shock Mo Bai. What truly shocked him was Tang San's unique breathing rhythm, which also changed the rhythm of his entire body. This indicated that Tang San must have practiced Qi cultivation techniques.

Tang Hao shocked Mo Bai even more. He looked weaker than an ordinary person, but he had hidden amazing power.

Although the forging process was deliberately disrupted, Mo Bai still noticed something and realized that it was a rather good forging technique.

After hammering and forging for a while, Tang Hao finally finished forging all the parts on the blueprints.

After Mo Bai inspected it, Tang Hao asked for twenty silver soul coins. Village Chief Li didn't say much. Having been the village chief for decades, Old Man Li had some discernment. Although they provided the blueprints and technology, he could still tell that what Tang Hao had forged was no ordinary item.

With the payment settled, Mo Bai packed up the parts and left with Village Chief Li.

  ...

After returning home, Mo Bai spent most of the day making the remaining parts. By the time he assembled the beast-hunting crossbow, it was already dark.

"Damn, we were really careless this time, but this drunkard probably didn't notice anything."

Before his rebirth, Mo Bai practiced the Qi Refining method. Although he also practiced some Qi Refining methods, they only strengthened his body and did not change his true nature.

This is also a characteristic of Qi cultivation. Relying solely on cultivation, one cannot improve one's essence until a certain stage is reached, and one's essence cannot undergo a qualitative leap until the later stages.

However, the blood refining method that Mo Bai is currently practicing is different.

This is a miraculous cultivation method that Mo Bai created after being inspired by the vampires of Blue Star in his early years. However, at that time, Mo Bai was practicing the Qi Refining method. After developing this Blood Refining method to a certain stage, he abandoned it and left it to gather dust, without even giving it a name.

The unique feature of this method is that as long as one's cultivation improves even slightly, one's inherent nature will also improve accordingly. Or, to put it another way, this method is to directly cultivate one's inherent nature, only it requires starting with the blood.

The Blood Refining Secret Technique is both wondrous and dangerous. It is wondrous because it can directly enhance one's own essence, and dangerous because it can turn a cultivator into a walking elixir.

If targeted, it might be ground into powder and used directly in medicine.

"That drunken blacksmith probably didn't see much today. I have to be more careful in the future. I never thought I'd actually run into a legendary reclusive master in this world." Thinking of this, Mo Bai felt a bit overwhelmed.

Back on Earth, Mo Bai often encountered so-called reclusive powerful figures in novels. Although the mortal realm of Earth was completely unaware of the existence of the transcendent realm, the transcendent realm constantly influenced and shaped the mortal realm.

Even if some extraordinary individuals engage in so-called seclusion, they are actually just staying at home; their quality of life hasn't declined at all, and their connection with the outside world hasn't been severed.

Mo Bai never expected that the reclusive big shot he had scorned in his previous life would be encountered just a few days after arriving in this world.
