Chapter 1: The Beginning of a Great Destiny
Long ago, in the ancient land of India, there lived a powerful dynasty known as the Bharatas. Their kingdom, Hastinapura, was filled with wealth, glory, and strong warriors. But behind this greatness, destiny was slowly preparing a story of love, betrayal, war, and dharma.
The story begins with King Shantanu, a noble and wise ruler of Hastinapura. One day, while walking near the holy river Ganga, he saw a beautiful woman. She was none other than Goddess Ganga herself. Mesmerized by her beauty, King Shantanu fell in love and asked her to marry him.
Ganga agreed, but she had one condition—Shantanu must never question her actions, no matter what she did. Blinded by love, the king accepted.
After their marriage, they had a child. But to Shantanu's shock, Ganga took the newborn baby and drowned him in the river. The king was heartbroken but remained silent, remembering his promise.
This happened again… and again… seven times.
When the eighth child was born and Ganga tried to do the same, Shantanu could not control himself. He stopped her and questioned her cruel act.
Ganga then revealed the truth. The children were actually divine beings cursed to be born on earth, and she was freeing them from their curse. But since Shantanu broke his promise, she had to leave him.
She took the eighth child with her and disappeared.
Years later, Ganga returned and gave the child back to Shantanu. That child grew up to become Devavrata, later known as Bhishma—a warrior of unmatched strength and a man bound by a terrible vow.
This was just the beginning.
A destiny was unfolding…
A war was waiting…
And the world would soon witness the greatest story ever told.
