Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: The Ash of the Heaven

The fall from the Heaven was a nightmare. We tumbled back through the Genesis Abyss and the violet sea I had corrupted was being cleaned by the Creators light. My army was dissolving into mist. My General, Drakonis was disappearing before my eyes.

We landed hard in the ruins of the Silent Orchard, where the Heavens started. The ground was cold. My skin once covered in obsidian scales was now pale and human with faint grey cracks where my power used to be.

I tried to stand. My legs felt heavy like a humans. I looked for my weapon, the Sovereigns Spine. It was gone, broken by the Creator. I looked at Isabella, Elara and Lilith.

They didn't glow anymore. The connection was silent. Lilith, the Original Sin looked at her hands with horror; without my power she was fading. Elara held her Ledger. The pages were blank.

Isabella moved first. She crawled over the cracked earth her dress torn her touch barely working. For 44 chapters she followed me out of fear, loyalty, then desire.. As she touched my cold shoulder something changed in her eyes. It wasn't submission; it was kindness.

"Alaric " she whispered, her voice shaking. "Your heart... I can hear it beating. It sounds human again."

She pulled me into her arms holding my head against her chest. For the time there was no System message about power transfer. There was no submission level rising. There was the warmth of a woman holding a broken man.

"I hated you for long " Isabella said, tears blurring her vision. ". Seeing you like this... Stripped of that scary mask... I realize I don't want the Sovereign. I want the man who survived the poison in Chapter 1."

In this moment Isabellas brand didn't glow; it melted into her skin becoming part of her soul. She wasn't loving a God; she was starting to love the monster who had fallen.

The 12th Heavens New Order

High above the 12th Heaven began rebuilding. The Creator wasn't satisfied with defeating me. He sent "Sentinels of Logic" down to the heavens to clean everything.

The Plan: The Creator is rewriting the history of the 1 to 11 Heavens. He is erasing all memory of "Alaric the Usurper" from the minds of the inhabitants.

The Execution: Anyone with a "Shadow Brand" is being hunted and "Formatted." The Creator wants to turn the Heavens into a boring machine again.

"We can't stay here " I said, forcing myself to stand leaning on Isabella. My voice was weak lacking the bass of the Void. "The Sentinels will find us. In this state a single low-tier angel could kill me."

"Where do we go?" Elara asked, her eyes darting to the sky where white streaks of light were already descending.

"The Forbidden Realms " Lilith answered, her ink-black hair messy but her mind sharp. "There is a place below the Heaven. A place the Creator never finished—the Basement of Chaos. That is where the Primal Seed is hidden. It is the source of all 'Virility' and 'Creation' that the Creator rejected because it was too wild to control."

"If I find that Seed," I said, my eyes flashing with a spark of my ruthlessness "I don't just get my power back. I get Infinite Stamina. I'll be able to fuel the Bedchamber System for years without stopping. I'll turn the Heaven into my personal brothel."

* [ALERT: SENTINEL OF LOGIC DETECTED WITHIN 50 METERS.]

"Hide " I whispered, pulling Isabella and the others behind a fountain of white marble.

A Sentinel of Logic floated past. It was a nightmare—a floating octahedron of white light with a single unblinking mechanical eye. It emitted a low-frequency hum that made my skin crawl. This thing was a "Deleter." If it scanned us our current low-level Divinity would be. We would cease to exist.

"Alaric, your leg..." Isabella whispered, her eyes wide with fear.

My calf was bleeding from the fall and the crimson blood—no violet—was staining the white grass. The Sentinel stopped. Its geometric body rotated, the "eye" locking onto the stain.

"ERROR DETECTED: BIOLOGICAL WASTE," the Sentinel droned, its voice a synthesized monotone.

"Its coming for us " Elara whimpered, clutching her Ledger. "We have no power to fight it!"

I looked at Isabella. She was terrified. For the first time she wasn't looking at me for a command. She was looking at me like she wanted to protect me.

"Isabella " I whispered, my hand reaching for the shard of the Sovereigns Spine that remained in my pocket—a jagged piece of black glass. "I can't use the System. I still have my mind. I need you to be the bait."

She looked at me a flicker of her pride crossing her face replaced by a deep new devotion. "Anything. Just tell me what to do."

"Run toward the Glow-Vine thicket. When it follows you it will have to pass the fountain. I'll do the rest."

Isabella took a breath stood up and bolted. Her lithe naked body was a streak of ivory against the wasteland. The Sentinel instantly pivoted, its octahedron edges spinning like blades.

"ANOMALY DETECTED. COMMENCING FORMAT."

The Sentinel sped after her. As it passed the marble fountain I didn't lunge with power. I lunged with physics. I used the bit of my physical strength to jam the jagged shard of the Sovereigns Spine directly into the Sentinels central iris.

The black glass, still holding a trace of the 7.8% Deletion Mandate acted like a virus. The white light of the Sentinel flickered, turning a violet.

"SYS...TEM... ERR...OR..."

I didn't stop. I climbed onto the floating machine my fingers bleeding as I tore at its shifting plates forcing the shard deeper into its core logic. With a pathetic spark the Sentinel shattered.

I fell to the ground gasping for air my chest heaving. A months ago I would have blinked this thing out of existence. Now I was covered in grease and dust struggling to breathe.

Isabella ran back to me collapsing on the ground and pulling me into an embrace. "You did it! You killed a God-tool with a piece of glass!"

She began to kiss my face her lips warm and desperate. I felt a microscopic spark in my gut—not the System but something human.

"We need to move " I said, looking at the grey scar on my arm. "The Primal Seed is in the Chaos Basement. Once I have it I won't just kill these machines. I'll make the Creator watch as I dismantle his logic, piece by piece."

* [Condition: Alarics mortal body is exhausted.]

* [Relationship Update: Isabellas 'Forced Brand' is being replaced by 'Genuine Affection'.]

"This is it " Lilith whispered, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and nostalgia. "The Creator called it the Waste-Bin.. It is actually the Basement of Chaos—the realm where the blueprints for 'Desire' and 'Blood' were hidden when the Heavens became too sterile."

I looked down into the abyss. At 4.0% Divinity I couldn't see the bottom. The Eye of the Origin was dim, a flickering candle in a hurricane. I felt a soft hand slip into mine. It was Isabella.

"We go together " she said firmly. She wasn't the princess I met in Chapter 1 nor the submissive brand-slave of the 5th Heaven. She was a woman choosing to follow her man into hell.

We jumped.

The fall felt like sliding down the throat of a beast. We landed on a floor made of pulsating moss. The walls weren't stone; they were giant throbbing veins of mana. This was the Primal Source, the material of existence before the Creator added "Logic."

* [ALERT: YOU HAVE ENTERED THE 'ZONE, OF VIRILITY'.]

The moment we landed a wave of heat hit me. Not the fire of the Sovereign but a deep strong throb in my blood. My Bedchamber System icon, which had been grey and dead flickered with a red light.

"I can feel it " I growled, my voice getting a bit deeper. "The Primal Seed. It's nearby."

The downside of this place was immediate. The Zone of Virility didn't care that I had lost my power; it targeted my instincts. I looked at Isabella. In the red pulsing light of the Basement she looked more beautiful than ever. Her skin shiny with sweat the curve of her hips the look of devotion in her eyes.

Without my power the need was coming back sharper and more painful than before. It was torture. To feel like a God but be a man.

"Alaric..." Isabella whispered, her face turning red. "The air... Its making my skin burn. I want... I need you to lead me again."

"I can't... Not yet " I hissed, holding my stomach. "If we do this now we will both die. We need the Seed first. I need the Infinite Stamina to survive what this place will demand of us. The Primal Seed is what we need to survive."

From the shadows a guardian emerged. It wasn't a Sentinel of Logic. It was a Succubus-Primal. A creature of raw lust her body a mix of wings, horns and changing feminine forms.

"A King, without his power?" she laughed, her voice making our groins vibrate. "You want the Seed? You have to prove you can handle it. The Primal Seed is not easy to get."
