The lawyer continued to move from slide to slide

The lawyer didn't hold back
"Well, the conclusion from the IT department and the legal team is that the investigation into Mrs Maguire was compromised", he said firmly
There was silence instantly
Scarlett's chest tightened because for weeks the board had accused and humiliated her and now the truth was finally beginning to come out
One of the directors leaned forward
"If the investigation was compromised, then somebody inside this company deliberately targeted her", she said calmly
"That's very possible", the lawyer replied quickly
"That's possible? No! At this point it looks very obvious", another director snapped
Several other directors nodded in agreement
The room felt very tense instantly
Nobody seemed to care about defending the original accusations anymore
