Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Chapter 1

The mysterious voice she had heard countless times in her dreams sounded once again. The originally deep and quiet dream world suddenly lit up with a strange, brilliant light.

Her name wasn't Truth, yet every time she heard that call in her dreams, a strong sense of familiarity welled up from the depths of her heart. Ever since she could remember, this voice calling to her in dreams had never stopped.

In the first few times, she felt some fear. But after it happened many times, she realized that this repeated calling didn't seem to harm her at all. So she gradually let down her guard and faced the unknown directly.

However, years of searching and gathering clues had failed to unravel the mystery of this voice, nor could she understand its meaning. Still, she remembered the name that haunted her dreams — Truth.

But in all her previous dreams, there had never been any memory except darkness.

Yet now… what was this light?

She looked up inquisitively. Perhaps this light could give her an answer. Then, she suddenly felt her consciousness being pulled by invisible threads, involuntarily drawing her soul toward the dazzling center of the light.

The moment she fell into the light, she lost consciousness and plunged into a dark abyss.

—————————————————

After an unknown amount of time, her consciousness and body felt as if they had been crushed and kneaded together. Even the simple action of lifting her eyelids took a lot of effort.

She rubbed her eyes hard, trying to dispel the soreness and swelling, but it had little effect.

Waves of pain kept coming from her forehead. When she tried to sit up from the bed, dizziness hit her as well. She held her head, wanting to go to the bathroom and use cold water to wake herself up.

Following her memory, she walked to the usual position of the bathroom in her room, but instead of touching the familiar doorknob, her hand met a thick wooden wall panel.

Instantly, her whole body broke out in goosebumps. Forcing herself to ignore the discomfort, she looked around and was shocked to realize: this was not her room!

The walls were made of somewhat old wooden boards that looked aged. The slightly dim room had only one window, covered by a shabby curtain. The bed near the window was extremely crude — built from simple wooden frames and planks, with a sheet casually laid on top.

She looked around in astonishment, then quickly lowered her head and felt her own body. Her clothes were intact, but they were definitely not the pajamas she had worn the night before.

Strange…

While looking around, she noticed a stack of paper documents on the bedside table and a slightly worn travel bag on the floor not far away. She quickly walked to the bedside table, picked up the documents, and flipped through them. They recorded the identity information of a woman.

The first thing she saw was a striking ID photo.

In the photo was a woman of devastating beauty — skin as white as congealed fat, delicate and charming brows and eyes. Her eyes were sky-blue, shimmering with watery light, as if the ocean itself resided within them. A small, exquisite pink nose and slightly upturned red lips… The exceptionally outstanding yet perfectly harmonious features formed an incredibly beautiful face.

"So beautiful… and this is just an ID photo. I wonder what the real person looks like… But why is her ID photo here…? Could it be…?"

A strange thought rose in her mind. Realizing something, she rushed into the bathroom.

Sure enough, she saw the exact woman from the ID photo in the mirror. In the mirror, the woman's face looked even more vivid and lively… Shoulder-length black hair cascaded down like a waterfall, making her small face appear even smoother and more radiant. The person in the mirror had her mouth wide open in shock. When she made any expression, the beauty in the mirror copied it exactly.

Although she doubted how real this idea was, she had no choice but to accept this reality…

"I transmigrated???!!!" ━Σ(Д|||)━

She ran back to the bed and sat down, holding the documents in her hands and examining them carefully. Only then did she learn the detailed situation of the body she was now in.

The owner of this body was named Truth. In English: Truth. Height: 180 cm. Age: 20. A civilian girl from the East Blue…

Truth…?

She frowned. Wasn't this the exact name the mysterious voice had been calling her in her dreams for years?

But the next second, she noticed the words "East Blue origin."

"East Blue origin? Where… exactly am I?" She put down the documents and walked to the window, pulling open the curtain.

After looking around, she realized this room seemed to be a guest room in an inn, because downstairs was a noisy street market, and combined with the furnishings inside, only an inn would fit these conditions.

The inn was close to the sea. Leaning out, she could see a wide and stretching coastline at a glance. The dock was nearby, and various ships were anchored along the calm shore. Among them was a huge warship. Its patterns and colors were exactly the same as the Marine warships in her favorite manga, One Piece…

She rubbed her eyes and stared at the warship even more carefully for a long time.

Then she was certain — this was truly a Marine warship from the One Piece world. Although this ship's specifications couldn't compare to those of a Vice Admiral or Admiral, the identical patterns left her with no other reason to deny it.

No, there was still another way to verify.

She checked her clothes and, finding nothing wrong, took the room key from the table and went out. After going downstairs, she headed straight to the inn's front desk.

The counter was somewhat quiet, with only an old woman sitting in a rocking chair, leisurely reading a book.

"Auntie, may I ask what date it is today?" She paused, then added, "And the year this year."

The old woman put down her book upon hearing the question and looked up at her with some confusion.

"Let me see," the old woman picked up the newspaper on the counter and glanced at it. "Today is Sea Calendar Year 1512, April 5th. It's now… two o'clock in the afternoon."

The moment she heard the exact date, goosebumps instantly spread across her entire body… She quickly thanked the woman and flew back upstairs under the old lady's strange gaze.

"This really is the One Piece world?!"

Back in the room, her mind went completely blank… At this moment, she didn't even know what she was feeling inside.

In the real world, she was just an ordinary university student. Besides reading manga and novels every week and attending classes, she was a total shut-in. Only those strange dreams made her feel slightly different from others, but that didn't mean much. At least for many people, dreams had no special meaning.

Yes, the dream. That dream.

She vaguely remembered that in the last dream, a bright light had appeared, and then… her consciousness had been sucked in. When she woke up, she was here.

It seemed she hadn't been given even the slightest choice.

Sitting silently on the hard bed, she suddenly thought that if she had disappeared from her original world, her parents would definitely be extremely worried. Since this seemed to be soul transmigration, if her soul was gone, her original body would probably… die, right?

She lay down on the bed in some panic, able to hear her own increasingly loud heartbeat.

After lying there for who knows how long, she finally sat up straight. Since she couldn't know why she had come here or how to go back, she could only face this fact head-on.

As a newcomer in this dangerous and unfamiliar world, choosing a faction was very important.

The One Piece world was balanced by three major powers: the Marines, the Four Emperors, and the Seven Warlords. If she chose the Four Emperors or Seven Warlords, it would mean becoming a pirate, drifting on the sea, and living an extremely unstable life.

Not to mention how few good people there were among the Seven Warlords and Four Emperors, she had never liked making a living by robbing others of their survival resources. So the pirate option was ruled out.

However, on second thought, although the Marines claimed to be the embodiment of justice, they sometimes did shady things… but overall, they were still a relatively upright faction. Pirates were basically unscrupulous and immoral. Except for Luffy's group and a very few others, most were not good people — they burned, killed, robbed, and committed every evil deed.

After thinking for a moment, she made her decision. She wanted to join the Marines.

According to the usual conventions in transmigration stories, the protagonist would obtain some special item or ability after crossing over. She wondered if this body had any special abilities… like a Devil Fruit power or something?

Beep——

As if sensing her thoughts, some kind of device activated with a sound.

She felt a tingling electric current flowing through her left arm. Looking down, a holographic electronic screen had appeared on her arm. It displayed rows of character information:

Name: Truth Age: 20 Race: Human Beauty: 50 Stamina: 40 Strength: 40 Speed: 40 Spirit: 20 Self-healing: 20 Innate Ability: Conqueror's Haki Abilities: Armament Haki, Observation Haki Points: 0

It seemed this body's name really was Truth. She didn't dislike the name. On the contrary, after being called it countless times in her dreams, she had already become used to and adapted to it.

From now on, her name would be Truth.

"Huh? Such a beautiful face only gets 50 points? What would 100 points look like? The kind where people die from beauty the moment they see it?" Truth couldn't help complaining as she scrolled through the screen. In her opinion, this face was already devastatingly beautiful, yet the system only rated it 50 points?

Hm? What did this 'Ability Exchange' option mean? She swiped to it and tapped it open. Truth's eyes instantly lit up! It was full of different ability exchanges!

Strengthen Self: Strength, Speed, Stamina, Spirit, Self-healing, Beauty… These looked quite useful, requiring 4000 points to upgrade. Hm? There were also domestic skills? Cooking, Housekeeping… quite practical. Let me check the points… needs 2000.

She opened the business section — it was full of commercial negotiation, economics, and other headache-inducing abilities. Skipping those, she reached the tab labeled 'Other Abilities'. When Truth saw these, her breath caught. There were actually abilities from other manga!

Super Saiyan bloodline, Zanpakuto, Ninjutsu… all kinds of powerful skills that made one's heart itch!

The required points were also extremely high, starting from 200,000 each… The more powerful ones even demanded up to 500,000!

"I wonder how to get the points for exchange. Usually it's by beating people up, right? I can try it when I get the chance…"

She poked her head out the window again and saw that the distant warship seemed to be resupplying in this town. Some Marine personnel were carrying box after box of cargo onto the ship. It looked like they would set sail soon. If they were heading to Marineford, she could catch a free ride and save herself the trouble of finding another way.

So Truth went to the bathroom, washed her face clean, and checked the items in the travel bag. There were some Berries, a few clean and simple clothes and pants, and underwear. It was so plain it hardly looked like the belongings of a great beauty… At least she should have brought a few bottles of skincare products, right?

After putting on her shoes and changing into the clothes from the bag, Truth looked at the mirror. Even in extremely ordinary clothes, her perfect figure still gave off a unique charm. She couldn't help sighing. The difference between people is really too big…

She closed the door, went downstairs to check out, and walked onto the street. Truth quickly felt the benefits brought by her beauty. The 200% rate of people turning their heads made her feel very good, and her steps became light and floating.

The inn wasn't far from the coast — just a five-minute walk.

"Excuse me… Officer, are you heading back to Marineford?" Truth walked straight up to a Marine who looked slightly higher in rank and asked.

The Marine, who had been impatiently checking the supply list, looked up. Just as he was about to give a perfunctory reply, he froze the moment he saw her appearance.

Her fair and charming face, ocean-blue eyes looking at him with what seemed like a smile in their depths… Such a beautiful face made the words he was about to say stop in his throat. He put down the record book in his hand and answered the woman's question seriously: "Yes, we are on a prisoner escort mission and preparing to return to Marineford."

A sailor beside him couldn't help but interrupt: "Officer, why are you telling everything to a stranger?!"

The Marine glared at the person beside him, then turned back with an eager face and asked Truth what she needed. When she expressed that she wanted to go to Marineford to enlist, the Marine gave her an incredulous look.

"Beautiful miss, joining the Marines is no joke. Please don't joke around. A beauty like you — how can you go to a place like that and endure the wind and sun?" The Marine spoke with a serious face, and the white coat draped over his shoulders seemed to start emitting the light of justice…

Truth rolled her eyes internally. Mind your own business. Although she felt a bit annoyed inside, she spoke in a slightly coquettish tone: "Officer~ I really want to join the Marines! Just take me with you~" Since heaven had given her such an outstanding body, she was going to make full use of it!

The Marine looked troubled, but he couldn't withstand the gentle and charming attitude of the beauty before him. He quickly surrendered and agreed to her request.

After verifying her identity documents, Truth followed the Marine's arrangements and moved into a small guest cabin on the huge warship.

The tiny room had extremely simple furnishings — just one bed and nothing else. Truth casually tossed her travel bag aside and carefully lay down on the hard, crude wooden plank bed.

She stared at the ceiling in a daze. Her mind was sorting through everything that had happened today, organizing it one by one. She shook her head and pinched her own cheek again to confirm that this really wasn't a dream.

Life is but a dream when awake. Perhaps this was simply fate's arrangement.

"Whatever… since I'm here, I'll just settle down and make the best of it," Truth muttered to herself.

Woo————

The warship's deafening horn sounded, slicing through the sky and signaling that they were about to set sail.

"Marines… Marineford… I'm coming!"
