He finished the document review.
All forty-seven pages of it. Every clause, every addendum, every flagged inconsistency noted and drafted for Legal with the same precision he brought to everything. His handwriting was steady. His voice, the two times Caelan asked him a direct question, came out even.
He did not look at the wrist again.
He was aware of it constantly.
The review ended at four-twelve.
Caelan closed the digital file, gathered his copy of the physical documents, and stood.
"I'll need the Legal notes by end of day tomorrow," he said.
"They'll be ready this evening."
A pause.
The specific quality of it, the half-second longer than a pause needed to be, that Seren was now reading with entirely different eyes.
"Tomorrow is fine," Caelan said.
He walked back into his office.
The door settled to its two-inch open position.
Seren looked at his screen.
