Dr. Yuen had a way of looking at a scan image that was entirely clinical and somehow also entirely human.
She looked at this one for a long time.
Longer than usual.
Seren was on the examination table. Caelan was in the chair beside it, the one that had appeared at his second appointment and had presumably been placed there specifically given that he'd come to every appointment since.
Dr. Yuen was very still.
"Is something wrong," Seren said.
"No." She looked up. "Nothing is wrong. I'm looking at something I want to show you." She turned the screen. "Come and see."
Eighteen weeks.
Both of them healthy. Both of them growing at the rate they should be growing, taking up the space they should be taking up, doing the things eighteen-week twins were supposed to do.
That was the clinical picture.
