Chapter 26 - A QUIET BREAK?

ANDREW'S POV

I left the rehearsal room almost immediately, closing the door behind me before another Year Eight student found a creative reason to start another argument.

I ignored them and continue walking till everywhere went quite almost immediately which is very strange.

I paused, without looking or turning back.

Then their silence turned into a whisper and I knew I head whimpering so I turned back.

Then rushed to the scene.

A student laid unconscious on the floor while other student gather round.

"What happened?" I said as I reached out for the girl.

"It was a mistake." A younger girl, Sabina replied. His eyes dripping with tears and his body shaking.

"Arnold and Sanina come with me." I said then carried the girl to the clinic.

Miss Temi was on seat while Miss Sharon, her sister wasn't.

The boy was taken to the ward while Sabina and Arnold were with me at the reception.

"What happened?" I asked.

The two of them spoke together..

"Hold on. One after the other. Sabina."

"Senior, what happened is that they were fighting and I hit something on his head then he fell and did not stand up."

"Thank you. Arnold is that true." I said looking at him but he kept avoiding eye contact.

"Yes senior."

Soon, the Doctor entered.

"Andrew." Miss Temi called. "He is fine. Though we still have to leave him here to study him." She added with a smile.

"Alright ma. Can we see him?"

"I wont advice that. Let him rest, come back after your break." She added then walked back to her position.

"You've heard the nurse. Lets go."

We stepped out together.

"I think she is gone." Arnold said sadly.

"The doctor didn't say that. Let go for break, then we will have our rehearsal then come back to check up on her, okay."

"Okay." They both replied and went their way.

As I walked to the school cafeteria, I felt like I should have asked what caused their fight but I nodded it off.

On like normal school days where by the corridors were crowded with students carrying books but now, with students carrying decorations, chairs and banners from one building to another, while teachers barked instructions that nobody seemed interested in following. Founders' Week always turned the entire school into organized chaos. So stressful.

Since it is the only time where by regular students get to interact with the outside world.

I slipped both hands into my pockets and made my way toward the cafeteria.

Maybe food would help.

Or maybe it would simply give my brain something else to think about besides although, everything seems to have been more stable.

No letters, no weird occurrence,

Did the culprit give up and just go home?

Doesn't make any sense.

What could this person be thinking?

I thought as I collected my food before choosing one of the empty tables near the window.

Just me, my food and the big fan blowing.

I had barely taken my second spoonful when someone pulled out the chair opposite me.

"You really enjoy disappearing, don't you?"

I looked up.

Vivian.

She balanced a tray in one hand before dropping into the seat opposite mine as though it already belonged to her.

"I was looking for you." She said.

"Were you?"

She nodded.

"I checked the graduation hall."

I continued eating.

"Then the music hall."

I raised an eyebrow.

"I even checked outside."

"You make me sound like a missing person." I replied.

She grinned.

"You practically are."

I laughed quietly.

She leaned both elbows onto the table before resting her chin on her palms.

"So..."

"So?"

"I saw what you did."

I frowned.

"What exactly did I do?"

"You gave Jane your medal."

I looked back at my food.

"Oh."

"So that's where it went."

She laughed.

"I won another one."

I shrugged.

"That's not the point."

"It isn't?" I asked

She sighed dramatically.

"I swear you're emotionally challenged."

"I've been told worse."

"I'm serious."

She pointed a plastic fork at me.

"Do you know what that medal meant to her?"

I stopped eating.

"I had an idea."

"No."

Vivian smiled softly.

"You don't."

She rested comfortably in her chair before speaking again.

"That girl has never won anything before."

I looked up.

"Nothing? " I asked surprised.

"Not once."

Hearing that made me understand why she kept staring at award.

"I figured she'd appreciate it."

Vivian began to eat.

"IT been over a week now, nothing strange had happened." Vivian said happily.

"Yeah. Also I met someone, Sanig, he looks so much like Nathan."

"Really?" She asked.

"Like facial structure, they are similar." I added then drank from the cup.

"Maybe he is Nathan's reincarnation?"

I nearly choked on my drink.

"Well, I so much doubt he is." I added then wiped my mouth.

"You wish he was?"

"Yeah."

After that, we didn't talk much, though when I was done I had to wait for her to be done so we can leave together.

Then back to rehearsal.

We did the rehearsal the way Sanig advised- divide the group into teams, one for the opening ceremony a d the other for the drama.

I taught them the songs according to their parts. It was really strenuous and at some point annoying.

The sad part is that every part of it reminded me of Nathan.

After the rehearsal, Arnold, Sabina and I went to the hospital on the way I asked what cause their fight.

"She knows so well that I like him and she collected a letter from him."

"So, all these because of a guy?" I asked but she fell silent. "What letter?"

"You really don't want to know." Arnold said.

"What is your own? Is it because nobody likes you because you are weird. Sooo as I was saying, I wrote a letter to him and he wrote to her. Can you imagine that?" She said sounding so frustrated.

"Who is he?"

"A guy in our class. He is so quiet" She replied blushing.

"Oh please." Arnold replied rolling his eyes.

"So what is his name?"

"I cant tell you" She replied still smiling.

When we got to the entrance of the clinic, Arnold paused.

"Something is so wrong." He replied looking so worried.

"What's wrong Arnold?"

"Don't mind him, he is weird. He claims he can feel bad energy." She said then laughed.

"Nevermind." Arnold said then opened the door.

We entered but he refused to.

Inside, Miss Temi was not on sit, just the receptionist. We asked her for direction of the ward Demma's, Sabrina's friend was.

We checked around then find ward as she described.

We opened the door and

we saw that she was covered.
