Silas and Madam looked around at their surroundings. The cave area opened up and there was fractured sunlight getting through. In the middle of the massive open area was a similarly massive hive. There were dozens of trees all around it with Weedle and Kakuna on them.
There were 2 other smaller hives around the larger one in the middle.
When Silas scanned the pokemon, he was surprised to find the Weedle at levels 22-29 and the Kakuna all ranging from 30-49. Silas deduced that for some reason these Weedle evolved at level 30.
Bug pokemon are normally in their final evolution by level 15. The potential of these pokemon were high too. The lowest here was C and the highest was B+.
Silas wanted to take away a few of these special Weedle and Kakuna but he knew that would be risky to incite the wrath of a swarm of powerful Beedrill.
While considering how to kidnap one of the baby pokemon, Silas noticed that one of the Beedrill was coming over but it was from one of the smaller hives. He quickly scanned it
Beedrill (F) — Level 39
Ability: Swarm

Moves: Rank B Harden, Rank B Twin Needle, Rank C Agility, Rank C Toxic, Rank C Venoshock, Rank C Poison Jab, Rank C Drill Run, Rank C Fury Cutter, Rank C Solar Beam
Silas' team was now at the Intermediate level, he was confident he could defeat this lone Beedrill. The swarm was another story.
He wanted to lead this Beedrill away from the swarm so he could defeat it without suffering the wrath of 100+ Beedrill.
Madam allowed Silas to attempt this on his own. She stood ready to intervene if things got dangerous.
Silas had his pokemon use Flamethrower and Thunder Shock but with weaker power to enrage Beedrill into following them. Adding on Silas throwing rocks at it, the Beedrill was infuriated and decided to hunt down Silas and his group itself. Most groups in the cave feared her clan for its strength so being challenged like this enraged her. DId they think she was weak?
Once a safe enough distance away, Silas had Electabuzz use Thunder Wave and it was a direct hit, paralyzing Beedrill. Monferno defeated it by using Flame Wheel repeatedly. Being paralyzed, Beedrill sometimes couldn't move so it fell easily to Monferno.
Unfortunately, Beedrill was a petty pokemon. Before being knocked out, it let out an ear piercing cry. Instantly, the air was filled with the sound of buzzing. Silas quickly caught the defeated Beedrill.
"Was a mere captured Beedrill worth this trouble?" Madam was clearly angry with Silas.
"There is something special about them, I know it. I am sorry for the trouble." Silas looked very guilty.
"Let us get out of here as soon as possible." Unfortunately, the first several Beedrill arrived. They had spammed Agility to arrive quickly.
Jolteon had recovered some strength so it covered the team with a powerful Discharge attack, defeating the 4 Beedrill that had arrived. Silas expertly caught them too. Luckily, pokemon in pokeballs could be stored in a storage pouch.
The full Beedrill swarm was frantically chasing them. Occasionally, explosive purple beams would be shot at them. Jolteon would have to block the attacks with Protect or Thunderbolt.
This was the Beedrill combining Sludge Bomb and Hyper Beam. Silas shuddered at the thought of being hit with such a deadly move.
Mount Silver pokemon were clearly fond of combining moves. First the Rhyperior and now the Beedrill.
Electabuzz used Light Screen, limiting the Beedrill swarm firepower by half. Arcanine and Nidoqueen used Fire Blast while Monferno used Flamethrower. They were starting to push back the Beedrill. Electabuzz joined in with its Charge Beam. After stacking buffs to its current limit of 3, Electabuzz was becoming a real factor in the battle.
Realizing that the Beedrill weren't giving up, Madam and Silas saw the situation worsen. The Beedrill were getting stronger. Then Combee started to appear.
They were of similar levels to the Beedrill. The problem with Combee was that their team work was nearly unmatched in the pokemon world. They could connect to each other like blocks. When connected, they could combine their attacks creating powerful synergy.
Now with 3 or 4 Combee, the combat power wouldn't be overwhelming. Once there were more than 20, then there would be trouble. For instance a wall of that size made up of level 50 pokemon could decisively take out a level 60 pokemon or significantly damage a level 65 pokemon.
There were 10 level 40 Combee, so far but their levels weren't unbeatable. Monferno and Electabuz focused on attacking this group so they couldn't form a Combee wall.
Charge Beam and Flamethrower terrorized them.
Silas had scanned several of the Beedrill when they arrived and the strongest was at level 57, so Arcanine had the absolute advantage.
Arcanine combined Extreme Speed and Flare Blitz to instantly knock out the 4 strongest Beedrill. The other Beedrill began to attack less aggressively after seeing this.
However this timid demeanor wouldn't last. After several minutes of this, the Beedrill and Combee suddenly retreated and formed an ordered group. They looked like an army awaiting their general. Then they parted and in the middle were a Beedrill and a Vespiquen!
Even Arcanine grew serious after seeing these 2 pokemon. The Vespiquen's wings were about double the normal size. The Beedrill had an extra stripe on its mid section and the stinger was the same color as its arms. There were 4 additional Beedrill following behind the king and queen. Silas scanned the new arrivals.
Beedrill (M) — Level 70

2 Elite class pokemon represented strength most trainers could only dream of having. The 4 Beedrill behind their leaders were all level 65.
The 2 elite pokemon would be trouble. The pressure ability is a terrifying power, especially in group battles like this. A pokemon can exert its pressure on any pokemon that is a lower level. Weaker willed pokemon would lose the ability to use their moves and could only run away.
Vespiquen suddenly glowed with golden light as a giant mist came out of its honeycomb-like lower half. This mist was actually one of Vespiquen's unique abilities. It could create these extensions of itself that took the form of tiny Combee. It would use this mist to execute moves like Attack, Defend, and Heal Order.
The tiny combee landed on and covered the swarm of bee pokemon. Most of the injured and knocked out pokemon were beginning to heal and the tiny bees merged into their bodies.
At the same time, one of the level 65 Beedrill used Agility and appeared in front of Madam instantly. It thrusted the stinger arm at her. Jolteon reacted first and got between the 2 and used Thunderbolt. The bolt of lightning struck its mark. Then Nidoqueen used its Iron Tail and sent it flying back into the swarm.
Vespiquen released additional mini combees that converged on the defeated Beedrill while several more Beedrill advanced aggressively. With Vespiquen here, they began to fight with reckless abandon knowing their queen could revive them.
"Nidoqueen, use Sand Storm. Arcanine, use Fire Blast on the Sand Storm."
Both pokemon jumped into action immediately. The rocks and ground around Nidoqueen began to break down into sand before swirling around Nidoqueen. Soon a tornado made of sand and wind formed around Nidoqueen before she directed it at the swarm. Arcanine released a giant man shaped flame that merged into the Sand Storm. Inside a cave, Sandstorm was less effective which is why they needed the added power from Fire Blast.
The blazing Sand Storm sucked in all the Beedrill that had aggressively attacked. The storm effectively walled them off while doing major damage to the bug pokemon.
"Nidoqueen, use Rock Slide within the Sand Storm."
Hearing the command, Nidoqueen raised both her hands at the Sand Storm. Then several stones fell from above. These stones were massive and they were now inside the storm with the numerous Beedrill doing considerable damage to them.
After a minute or so, this area of effect attack was devastating. Once the attack fully got going, it was hard to stop. Seeing this, the Vespiquen shrieked in anger.
She ceased healing her subjects. The mist of tiny combee converged around her and then combined into a spear-like object. It shot towards and was rotating at the same time.
When the attack struck, it blew apart the Sand Storm. Through the smoke, Jolteon launched a surprise attack Thunder at Vespiquen but several of the Beedrill used Agility to intercept the attack with their own bodies. This swarm was fiercely loyal to their king and queen. It wouldn't be easy to defeat an organized swarm of pokemon.
