Chapter 4. War is Hard and Love is Complicated
Before the carriage even stopped, a joyful voice was heard from outside.
"Raviel!"
As Haven moved to open the door, it swung open wide. A head with pink hair peeked into the carriage, beaming with a smile.
"Raviel, welcome! It was a long journey, right?"
I grabbed Edwin's hand as he pushed Haven away and then stepped out of the carriage.
I had intended to pinch his cheek as soon as we met, but the crowd welcoming the empress was too large.
Even though the empire's military commanders knew enough about our sibling dynamics, it wasn't appropriate to pinch Edwin's cheek in front of Haven's family.
I responded to the kneeling crowd with smiles and encouragement, then whispered to Edwin, audible only to him, "Didn't I tell you to wait patiently?"
"I was being patient?"
"Raiding Gripton's old palace was being patient?"
"Ah, did Duke Dehart already spill? Didn't expect that. Duke, no loyalty."
