Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Plan

Compared to before, her limbs were nearly three times as thick. Visible tendon groups bulged at the joints of her forelimb wings, her hind limbs had lengthened, and her claws were more curved, making them better suited for gripping and kicking.

Her Torso was no longer the rounded, streamlined shape of a bat; instead, it had distinct chest and abdominal contours.

It was a physique formed by high-intensity muscles covering densified bones.

Her weight had increased at least fivefold, but Lilith didn't feel the slightest bit of heaviness in her body.

Flapping her Bat Wings, Lilith's figure moved ten meters horizontally like white lightning, only stabilizing after snapping several thin branches.

It was too fast; her newborn muscles hadn't yet adapted to the sudden increase in power output.

Lilith slowly landed on a thicker main branch, hung upside down, closed her eyes, and adjusted her breathing.

Deep within her consciousness, a more subtle change was occurring.

It wasn't an intuitive data increase like an attribute boost, but rather a reset of her life state.

Like a tree that had stopped growing suddenly being injected with the potential to sprout and bud again. Her adult physiological limits were broken, and she had returned to a juvenile stage where she could continue to develop.

Her lifespan had increased.

The room for growth had reopened.

Lilith opened her eyes, a hint of a smile flashing deep within her crimson pupils.

Because this also meant her estrus period could be delayed.

Although she didn't know much about bats or if they even had a so-called estrus period, the thought of cats and dogs being controlled by it in her previous life made her shudder involuntarily.

Get stronger! Keep getting stronger! Regardless of whether it existed, she would put a stop to it first!

"Open panel."

Reciting it in her heart, a blue light screen unfolded in the darkness, presenting new data to Lilith.

[Player: 10086]

[Faction: Hunter]

[HP: 51]

[Strength: 4.9]

[Speed: 10]

[Spirit: 9.2]

[Constitution: 5.1]

[Talent: Gene Dominator (SSS)]

[Current Gene Bank: Iron Beetle, Giant Bowback Ant]

[Mutated Parts: wing membrane, Torso and Limbs]

[Comprehensive Evaluation: None]

Her Strength and Constitution had doubled. Her Speed had reached the current limit of a human, but with her current wingspan and muscle power, her actual maneuverability could still be improved by at least 30%.

More importantly, Lilith looked at her powerful forelimb claws and then at the ring of bone-white keratin blades along the edges of her wing membranes.

Now, her attributes had reached the standard of a normal adult, and her Speed and Spirit had even surpassed them.

And this was only the result of completing two Mutations. Lilith couldn't imagine how exaggerated the boost would be once she completed the third Mutation and underwent an evolution in her life level.

Once she completed a life evolution, her growth cycle would be further enhanced.

"Boom—!!!"

A loud explosion came from the southeast, followed by the ear-piercing noise of breaking wood and a shockwave. Even from several kilometers away, the sound waves still penetrated the layered barriers of the rainforest, startling a sky full of birds.

Lilith flapped her wings and rose into the air, climbing to a height of a hundred meters.

The scene below was clear at a glance. The river broke into a waterfall at a cliff, and an old-fashioned steamboat was capsized on the rocky beach at the bottom of the falls, its hull breached and thick smoke billowing. Further upstream, another plume of black smoke was rising in the forest; that was the supply ship that was blown up later in the original plot.

The plot line had already progressed to the middle stage.

The Bloody Mary had crashed. The survivors of the protagonist group would assemble here, then build a raft in the indigenous village to head toward the blood orchid cliffs.

Lilith hovered in the air currents, scanning downward with ultrasound. She quickly locked onto that disheveled team of humans.

Eight or nine people were helping each other climb ashore. Among them, three Asian faces were particularly conspicuous—three adult males with efficient movements and a level of alertness far higher than the other panicked plot characters.

Reincarnators.

They had indeed mixed in. But the numbers didn't seem right.

The system prompt said there were six players, but there were only three here. Excluding herself, where did the other two go? Dead? Or did they choose a different route?

Lilith didn't care about that. Her gaze moved past the human team and toward the deeper parts of the jungle. The muddy river flowed north, ending at a vertical cliff.

The ultrasound reflected a unique signal off the cliff surface. The plant root structures were abnormal, and there were clusters of flowers emitting faint energy fluctuations.

blood orchids, and the Blood Python packs that lived and bred near them.

Lilith didn't go to pick them immediately; instead, she assessed her current state.

A giant Vampire Bat with a one-meter wingspan was still like a sparrow facing a hawk in front of a Blood Python. She had experienced the ambush speed of those mutated pythons; their ten-meter-long bodies could erupt in short-range lunges, making everything within ten meters a death zone.

Going alone would undoubtedly increase the risk of injury, so she needed to wait for the humans to act and fish in troubled waters.

Besides, she needed the Blood Python's genes. Even though she knew it was unlikely she could collect them all, Lilith still harbored a glimmer of hope.

Her gaze fell back on the human team. In the plot, they would encounter multiple Blood Python attacks on the way to the indigenous village. With the Reincarnators joining, they could at least kill one or two on the way.

"Perhaps."

Lilith's crimson pupils flickered with red light, and a cold glint flashed from her sharp teeth.

"I can follow behind them and collect the Blood Python's genes."

...In the last rays of light before nightfall, the survivors and indigenous people camped on a relatively dry highland.

The three Reincarnators occupied a position at the edge of the camp. The leading burly man, Lucas, was using a whetstone to sharpen a machete found on the ship. The blade was stained with dark red blood, but it wasn't human.

"That's the third one."

The tall, thin young man sitting opposite him pushed up his glasses. He held a notebook and was recording something.

"The bile from that eight-meter-long female python this afternoon has been extracted. According to the prompts on the system, we only need to add some blood orchid samples to create a Enhancement Potion."

The Enhancement Potion was a benefit given to novice players by the Main God Game. It couldn't be traded or exchanged. To obtain this benefit, one had to break into this rainforest, kill a Blood Python, and get a blood orchid.

Hearing "blood orchid," Lucas's sharpening movements paused for a moment.

He looked up at the protagonist group and the indigenous people in the center of the camp, who were distributing compressed biscuits.

"Those indigenous people won't let us near the blood orchids. Given their reverence for the blood orchids, they'll turn on us the moment we head for the sacred ground."

With them joining, not only did the plot advance to arriving at the indigenous village a day early, but they also happened to encounter and save one of the indigenous people here.

But even so, these indigenous people were still unwilling to let them touch the sacred ground.

From the eyes of these indigenous people, he saw fear and dread. Clearly, if the blood orchids could allow the Blood Pythons to grow so large, even more terrifying creatures must have been spawned here.

Once the blood orchids were disturbed, it would likely alert the dangers hidden in the depths. After all, the blood orchids had existed for an unknown number of years; they were definitely not as simple as they appeared on the surface.

At least these Blood Pythons they saw were only what the movie showed them. In the unknown depths of the rainforest, even larger Blood Pythons likely existed.

This was the true root of what these indigenous people feared.

"In that case, we'll make our move tonight."

The Enhancement Potion was enough for them to take this risk.

Li Wei closed his notebook, his eyes extremely calm. After the Blood Python attacks, he finally realized that fear would only push him into the abyss.

Rather than that, it was better to fight for a future. Thus, the three of them officially formed the prototype of a team—a Reincarnator squad led by Lucas.
